No one is stopping you or anyone else from using SVN. There is limited
access to it while it is undergoing some maintenance and instructions
for accessing what is currently available has been discussed in great

Yep, I'm sure Eric.

Circumvented the problem for the moment - downloaded PrettyBetty
with my notebook and transferring it with a usb drive.

However, I will continue to investigate the problem as I would
like to have SVN capability on the main computer.
Lots of reports of similar crash behavior on the Tortoise list.
Looks like it is always some program incompatibility as you
suggested. Just need to find out which one. I have several
shell things on here like Mingw and msys used in C++ development.
However, since Tortoise runs fine on the notebook, I can compare
the context menus and see what program is not installed on the
notebook and maybe that will be the culprit.

Wayne,

I'm wondering if you installed the x64 version on a 32-bit OS or vice
versa

(win32 on 64 bit machine). If I were you, I would uninstall tortoise,
reboot, then reinstall (making sure you have the right version for your
OS),

and reboot again. I suspect that will fix you up.

If that isn't the issue, it may be some kind of conflict with another
shell

integrated program. Look to see what else shows up in your context (i.e.
right click) menu while tortoise is uninstalled.

Gwyn,

There is no need to delete the old TortoiseSVN before installing the new
one. When you get the message in SVN telling you there is a new version,
simply click the link to go to the TortoiseSVN web site, download the new
installer, and install the new version. The new version will install
seamlessly over top of your old installation, leaving all of your previous
settings intact.

Re: [Flexradio] tortoise menu items

Ned,

Your TortoiseSVN is working correctly. TortoiseSVN integrates with the
Windows File Explorer (or whatever it's called) and provides svn-related
options in the form of extra menu options. When you're not on an svn
working directory on your machine, you'll have fewer options available
-- exactly as you've noted.

A short tortoisesvn menu item has been added to every file on

PowerSDR has the appropriate long SVN menu, and it works.
I've looked at the tortoise help file and tried the "remove"

Re: [Flexradio] Tortoise Problems

2006-09-09 Thread Tim Ellison
David,

Your problem (and from what I can tell from everyone else that has
problems with SVN) is that you are using the wrong URL. You should be
using:

svn://206.216.146.154/svn/repos_sdr_windows/powerSDR

But please, only use this URL so that you download only the binaries
since you have no need for the source.

svn://206.216.146.154/svn/repos_sdr_windows/powerSDR/trunk/bin/Release

Using SVN is very simple if you *follow* the directions available from
the Flex web site.

BTW, SVN is not a "programmer based system", it is a document management
system.

I'm trying to reinstall Tortoise SVN and, when I right click the desk
top icon and go to SVN Checkout I get the following option.

svn://206.216.146.154/svn/repos_sdr_windows/power.sdr

When I 'OK' that, I get "Error: URL

Can anyone help please? I used to have Tortoise SVN running but, to be
honest, I'd prefer to be able to just download a raw version 1.6.3 plus
updates as zip files.

I'm never going to be a programmer, and these programmer based systems
will, to my mind, put off the people who have a little knowledge, let
alone the people who just want to buy a rig and use it...

Re: [Flexradio] Tortoise Down?

2006-08-24 Thread Dale Boresz
Dale,

Try this:

1. From your Windows Explorer (the File system explorer -- not Internet
Explorer), click on:
File > TortoiseSVN > Repo-browser

2. Paste the following URL into the URL textbox on the small dialog box
that pops up:
svn://206.216.146.154/svn/repos_sdr_windows/PowerSDR/trunk/bin/Release

3. Click the OK button.

4. You should see the directory tree, and the 'Release' directory
should be highlighted, with a "+" node expander next to it.

5. Click the "+" icon, and you should see all of the files in the
release directory.

6. If you've gotten this far, you've successfully connected with SVN.

7. At this point, you're just browsing. To actually get the files,
create an empty directory someplace on your hard drive, right-click the
directory, and Select "SVN Checkout ..." from the context menu that
appears. Paste the same URL as you did in step (2) above into the "URL
of repository" location, and confirm that the "Checkout directory"
textbox below it indicates the desired target directory on your machine.
Just click the "OK" button, and the download to your directory should begin.

8. When the download has completed, you can actually run the code right
from your target directory simply by double-clicking the PowerSDR.exe
file, though you should probably double-click fftw_wisdom.exe first, and
let it run it's tests which only take a minute or two.

Hope this helps.

Jerry,

The SVN url is case sensitive. Using the binaries only url as listed in the
document will work provided the case is preserved. The result is a single
folder with what you have in trunk/bin/Release. Glad that you got it up and
running. Thanks for the comments. Have fun.

[Flexradio] Tortoise page need updating

2006-08-23 Thread Jerry Harley
I finally got around to loading Tortoise and running it. Very easy with
the instructions, but now your hanging a little. You need to know that
you have to go toYOUR_DIR/TRUNK/BIN/RELEASE in order to run the
current executable.

This wouldn't have happen but it didn't like the URL
.../trunk/bin/release. So I down loaded everything. Therefore working
my way through the directories, top down, I found 1.6.2 and ran this -
svn555 hum mm not what I wanted, no new features. Bottom line, tell
us to go to TRUNK/BIN/RELEASE

Still exploring the new console, very very good. I'm finding the things
the have been talked about for the past weeks. Having SR (Spur
reduction) in easy reach is very nice for me. I use 10m a lot and
sometimes you need SR on and other times you need if off. So far I
haven't found a spur that I could not get rid of. This is really a non
issue that got a lot of press.

I hope this gets a few more people to jump in a join the daily fun.

Re: [Flexradio] Tortoise SVN

2006-08-19 Thread Ken N9VV
Hi Jim, Y*E*S it can be very intimidating at first, but the fellas
at Flex have put together a real nice tutorial on how to use
Tortoise. It even has screen dumps of what you will see. And at the
bottom of the document, it shows 5 different links for the 5 kinds
of info you might be interested in (latest binary, source, and so
on...).

check it out here:
http://flex-radio.com/download_files/PowerSDR/Docs/TortoiseSVN.pdf

The wonderful benefit at this time is that you get just the portions
that you are interested in. For example, the fellas who are lucky
enough to afford the Microsoft Visual Studio can download the source
code and to build the whole console. However, many of us do not have
the compiler, and so Flex has gone the extra mile and made sure that
we can just download PowerSDR.exe and the necessary program
execution time files (thanks Eric KE5DTO and Bob N4HY who's names
appear in the logs each week).

This is a real neat capability that NO OTHER HAM RADIO MANUFACTURER
HAS ANYWHERE ON THE FACE OF THE EARTH!! Honestly, it is a brand new
way of looking at your SDR-1000. With each new program revision, you
get a "new" radio. It is true that the competition has knobs (lots
of knobs) but lets see YaeComWood-TT match this new code
distribution method!

all the best,
de ken n9vv

[Flexradio] "Tortoise" equivalent for Linux

2006-04-21 Thread Robert McGwier

YES, this is a hint.

Dan has recommended Esvn as a tool like Tortoise for Linux. It does
appear to be close. For those following the Ubunto path, using
synaptic (not sure which repository since I use them all) search for,
download, and install Esvn to try it out.

There is one bug. When adding an active svn directory to a new
workspace, you will need to add a SPACE at the end of the directory.
Somebody went -1 on their strlen. It chops off the last character in
the pathname! Just add a space at the end of the name and you will be fine.

[Flexradio] Tortoise SVN and Putty don't always make beautiful music together

2006-04-19 Thread Bob McGwier N4HY
If you are one of those poor souls who gets "Invalid Putty Port" when
attempting to use TortoiseSVN (which has made my productivity level from
my office just about zero) the fix is beyond simple. I finally whined
in enough places that the correct answer was retrieved (in my opinion A
BUG that needs fixing).

You may review the whining that got me the answer:

or

Right click, TortoiseSVN, setting, network and REMOVE the entire
contents of the line that sets putty as the ssh. When you do this,
TortoisePlink will run instead of using the putty interface and all will
be well. We have become very paranoid here as only SSH gets in and out
and only if all of the permissions are set on the remote end to protect
the keys, etc.

Sigh of relief,
Bob
