Re: [Flightgear-devel] some models updates available

2013-07-13 Thread grtuxhangar team
Hello, Stuart

No, it is not your mistake, it is only the wrong process we are using,
regarding the Flightgear fgdata content , regarding how it must be used.
Unfortunately we are working with 56000 kbs speed communication line
when we can :(

To us fgdata is a "monster".
Downloading data from it is only possible with the process described there
( tricky but working ):
http://www.flightgear.org/forums/viewtopic.php?f=4&t=10420

Thus a merge request to fgdata which would be easier for you is not
possible.

Thank

Ahmad

Ah, that's my mistake.

To avoid .git files corrupting each other, I downloaded your new version as a
tarball from gitorious and then copied it over the existing aircraft.
Of course,
that wouldn't have deleted the removed files.

I'll do another clean up when I get a chance over the weekend. No problem.

A merge request to fgdata would be easier for me to handle, but that would
mean you have to download the full fgdata.

Hi,

What I always do when I get update packages instead of merge requests is to
delete the aircraft locally (not in Git) and then add the new package. That way
you will clearly see all deleted files, renamed case-insensitive files etc.

Hello,Stuart

Sorry for the huge mistake, thank a lot for the fix, and the time you spent on
it.
However, when looking at the
http://www.gitorious.org/fg/fgdata/trees/master/Aircraft/F-8E-Crusader

I notice there is a lot of old outdated files which are longer there (
especially textures.rgb files ).

Our updated versions within the https://gitorious.org/eekpo, do not contains
these old files.

The process we are working with are surely wrong to you.

When we are working on updates what is the best way to help you ?
How could we help you to synchronize those updates within fgdata. ?

I guess there is not any way, within git, to create a link which point to our
git repository (a dream, which would be the easiest process )

BTW:
The Models features are not mistaken with the remaining wrong outdated files,
the trouble is only with the size of the models package.

I made a couple of small corrections to the PBY-Catalina in passing

as there were some references to "Aircraft/PBY6_Catalina" that needed to be

changed to "Aircraft/PBY-Catalina"

Hello, Stuart ,

Thank for your kind effort about it.
Since we have again uploaded a new version within our Git Project
https://gitorious.org/~eekpo, and since we can't check the actual content
of your official fgdata Aircraft directory ( like said we don't have any
high speed communication line so too much large for downloading ,), it
could be better to update both aircraft with the entire content from:

git clone g...@gitorious.org:eekpo/f-8e-crusader.git
git clone g...@gitorious.org:eekpo/pby-catalina.git

Sorry for the difficulty that we are introducing there , as long as the
fgdata is not split in part with individual aircraft ( there was a
project, is it given up ? ), we can't be helpful.

Hello, Gijs

In order to get a cleaned ( i hope ) version within our Git repo, i will
tryto get in touch with our Guy who made that Git version.
he should be able to work on it.

You may prefer to wait for it.

Thanks a lot for checking and spotting these errors.

=>Getting some erros on starting:

   - Cannot find image file "Images/particle.rgb"
   - Cannot find image file "Images/smoke.rgb"

those message are "Ghost" messages

It came up 2 years ago when the osg format"model.osg" was
deprecated replaced by "model.osgx" and or "model.osgt"

Look at osg plugins: osgdb_deprecated_osg.replaced
by osgdb_serializers_osg...

We tried to understand the cause no success .

We only know, none of our models are requesting Images/particle.rgb and
others.. at the FG root ( with Images directory).

The texture which are are required are at the right place within the
Aircraft model and perfectly used.

Is it an OSG bug ? , Is it a FG bug when it is using some native osg
format ? We don't know.

=>There are some weird filenames, eg. there's the three of these; and a
whole lot more similar to these:

   -

Aircraft/F-8E-Crusader/Instruments/Models/Textures/turn3d-niveau.rgb..png.png<=

Sorry it should not be , those weird files should not be there.

We have probably a script which do not work correctly.

Whatever, what it is the best way to give you the good Textures directory
content? What can we do to help you ?

My thanks especially, since it causes me terrible problems on Mac - git thinks
my tree is always dirty, so I can't rebase, which I how I normally pull.

If I had the script-fu I'd write a pre-commit hook for our Git which checks for
files differing only in name-case and rejecting the commit. (And assuming
Gitorious supports custom pre-commit hooks)

Hi Ahmad,

Well, that's all nice, but there definitely IS a fault with it. If you take the
time to actually check the Gitorious link I sent (I didn't sent it because I
love copy&pasting links into emails), you'd have seen it for yourself. It
doesn't neccessarily affect your own development machine, if that's where you
made the move. But it ended up wrongly in Git. If you can tell me which one of
the files is supposed to be kept (afterburn.png or AfterBurn.png) I can remove
the other, to fix the issue.

Next to that (and unrelated):
Every texture seems to have a .rgb duplicate, which can probably be
removed. There are some weird filenames, eg. there's the three of these; and a
whole lot more similar to
these:Aircraft/F-8E-Crusader/Instruments/Models/Textures/turn3d-niveau.pngAircraft/F-8E-Crusader/Instruments/Models/Textures/turn3d-niveau.rgb.pngAircraft/F-8E-Crusader/Instruments/Models/Textures/turn3d-niveau.rgb..png.pngGetting
some erros on starting:Cannot find image file "Images/particle.rgb"Cannot find
image file "Images/smoke.rgb"Cannot find image file "Images/continous_smoke.rgb"
It's without doubt an awesome aircraft, and a very interesting and detailed
simultion. So please don't think I don't appreciate your work. Just trying to
give you some feedback, in the hope that you take it serious and use it to make
further improvements.

Cheers,

Hello, Gijs

Sorry i misunderstood your remark, yes there is at the moment, two files
AfterBurn.png and afterburn.png.
Only one is being used.
The model which is using it, is pointing to AfterBurn.png , however it
could be pointing to afterburn.png when the OS does not makes the
difference, upper_case vs lower_case.

It can be useful to remove
F-8E-Crusader/Models/Textures-hires/texture12F/afterburn.png ( which is
less eye candy ).

No you don't have to worry about capitals, since our team is using and

There is not any fault with it .
IE: AfterBurn.png does not have elsewhere any other afterburn.png =>

No it is not French specific ( i guess ) since we have a wide range of

Hi Stuart, Ahmad,

I would like to stress that there are OS out there that do not differentiate
AfterBurn.png from afterburn.png When you change the capitals of a file
(leaving the letters the same) without actually comitting the move to Git,
Windows (and some Mac) run into trouble. I fixed a similar "fault" from Helijah
earlier this week. I don't know if it's something unique to French computers,
but please try to keep it in mind in future edits.

You can see the culprit if you look at Gitorious. There are two files named
afterburn/AfterBurn:
https://gitorious.org/fg/fgdata/trees/master/Aircraft/F-8E-Crusader/Models/Textures-hires/texture12F/

I was planning to merge these into fgdata this evening, but they
 appear to have been
 deleted last night.

Are you planning to re-release them?

If so, please let me know so I can get them into fgdata. It would be
 great to have
both these aircraft updated for the 2.10.0 release.

Re: [Flightgear-devel] some models updates available

2013-06-29 Thread grtuxhangar team
Hello, Stuart

I guess both planes Catalina and Crusader are again available in Git

git clone g...@gitorious.org:eekpo/f-8e-crusader.git
git clone g...@gitorious.org:eekpo/pby-catalina.git
should work for you.

You will notice: each aircraft have a separate repository thus the
directory f-8e-crusader and directory pby-catalina. are only a "wrapper".
to the original Aircraft directory => which are F-8E-Crusader and
PBY-Catalina .

Sorry we could not work with a git FGData clone (too large).

Thanks
Ahmad

Hello, Stuart

I am AFK , i'll be back by the end of the week.
I don't know what has happened with these two projects, probably a mistake
from our team, which locked the access to our Git server.
I won't try to explain how is our organization, just to know we have a long
distance server (situated in France) , which is suppose to store to
receive and to transmit our requests to the "World".
As soon as i am back, i'll try to coordinate again, so that the the update
will be available.

Thank for your patience

I was planning to merge these into fgdata this evening, but they
appear to have been
deleted last night.

Are you planning to re-release them?

If so, please let me know so I can get them into fgdata. It would be
great to have
both these aircraft updated for the 2.10.0 release.

Oh sorry i misunderstood your question.
That's about the water bombing feature.

You should get with that new git version the following:

I don't remember how was the old version
These screenshots were done with Rembrandt.

  Hello,

One of our member within our grthteam has been working on updates gpl
compliant regarding some old models which were done by Gérard many years
 ago.
You may find these models updated at
 https://gitorious.org/eekpo

 at the moment

  Have been updated, only

 the F8E Crusader
 https://gitorious.org/eekpo/f-8e-crusader

 and the PBY Catalina
 https://gitorious.org/eekpo/pby-catalina

Probably some others update will come on, if so, you will be notified
 in time.

 you may get them with
 git clone g...@gitorious.org:eekpo/f-8e-crusader.git
 git clone g...@gitorious.org:eekpo/pby-catalina.git

These updated models have been tested with the recent GIT version,
thus it should work with next FG version.

You may want to update the old original ones, within FGDATA

 Thank

 Ahmad

BTW: there won't be any conflict with our Creative Common Official
Hangar content, since these models are developed to an other direction

Re: [Flightgear-devel] some models updates available

2013-06-22 Thread Curtis Olson
When I tried to actually drop the water from the air, the animation was
wrong. The transparency was missing and the bloom just grew around the
aircraft and looked really strange and wrong. I had someone recently ask
about setting up a larger simulation system to do water bomber training so
I looked at the catalina a bit to see if the water bombing was still
working end-to-end.

So just to clarify ... the problem I was seeing was when you released the
water, not when you pick it up.

Thanks,

Curt.

Are you referring to these

or something else ?

I did not tried out the versions which are offered on GIT (the capacity of
my computer is limited) , however i guess these effects are there.

Anyhow i may ask to the author.

Thank,

Ahmad
