Re: [Flightgear-devel] some models updates available
Hello, Stuart No, it is not your mistake, it is only the wrong process we are using, regarding the Flightgear fgdata content , regarding how it must be used. Unfortunately we are working with 56000 kbs speed communication line when we can :( To us fgdata is a "monster". Downloading data from it is only possible with the process described there ( tricky but working ): http://www.flightgear.org/forums/viewtopic.php?f=4&t=10420 Thus a merge request to fgdata which would be easier for you is not possible. Hi, What I always do when I get update packages instead of merge requests is to delete the aircraft locally (not in Git) and then add the new package. That way you will clearly see all deleted files, renamed case-insensitive files etc. Cheers, Gijs Date: Fri, 12 Jul 2013 13:52:08 +0200 From: hohora...@gmail.com To: flightgear-devel@lists.sourceforge.net Subject: Re: [Flightgear-devel] some models updates available Hello,Stuart Sorry for the huge mistake, thank a lot for the fix, and the time you spent on it. Hello, Gijs =>Getting some erros on starting: - Cannot find image file "Images/particle.rgb" - Cannot find image file "Images/smoke.rgb" - Cannot find image file "Images/continous_smoke.rgb"<= those message are "Ghost" messages It came up 2 years ago when the osg format"model.osg" was deprecated replaced by "model.osgx" and or "model.osgt" Look at osg plugins: osgdb_deprecated_osg.replaced by osgdb_serializers_osg... We tried to understand the cause no success . We only know, none of our models are requesting Images/particle.rgb and others.. at the FG root ( with Images directory). The texture which are are required are at the right place within the Aircraft model and perfectly used. Is it an OSG bug ? , Is it a FG bug when it is using some native osg format ? Re: [Flightgear-devel] some models updates available
Hi Ahmad, >No you don't have to worry about capitals, since our team is using and >testing with MS systems and or Linux systems. > There is not any fault with it . Well, that's all nice, but there definitely IS a fault with it. If you take the time to actually check the Gitorious link I sent (I didn't sent it because I love copy&pasting links into emails), you'd have seen it for yourself. It doesn't neccessarily affect your own development machine, if that's where you made the move. But it ended up wrongly in Git. If you can tell me which one of the files is supposed to be kept (afterburn.png or AfterBurn.png) I can remove the other, to fix the issue. Next to that (and unrelated): Every texture seems to have a .rgb duplicate, which can probably be removed. There are some weird filenames, eg. there's the three of these; and a whole lot more similar to these:Aircraft/F-8E-Crusader/Instruments/Models/Textures/turn3d-niveau.pngAircraft/F-8E-Crusader/Instruments/Models/Textures/turn3d-niveau.rgb.pngAircraft/F-8E-Crusader/Instruments/Models/Textures/turn3d-niveau.rgb..png.pngGetting some erros on starting:Cannot find image file "Images/particle.rgb"Cannot find image file "Images/smoke.rgb"Cannot find image file "Images/continous_smoke.rgb" It's without doubt an awesome aircraft, and a very interesting and detailed simultion. So please don't think I don't appreciate your work. Just trying to give you some feedback, in the hope that you take it serious and use it to make further improvements. Re: [Flightgear-devel] some models updates available
Hello, Gijs Sorry i misunderstood your remark, yes there is at the moment, two files AfterBurn.png and afterburn.png. Only one is being used. The model which is using it, is pointing to AfterBurn.png , however it could be pointing to afterburn.png when the OS does not makes the difference, upper_case vs lower_case. It can be useful to remove F-8E-Crusader/Models/Textures-hires/texture12F/afterburn.png ( which is less eye candy ). Hello, Stuart Nice, we hope you will enjoy. Hello, Gijs No you don't have to worry about capitals, since our team is using and testing with MS systems and or Linux systems. Hi Stuart, Ahmad, I would like to stress that there are OS out there that do not differentiate AfterBurn.png from afterburn.png When you change the capitals of a file (leaving the letters the same) without actually comitting the move to Git, Windows (and some Mac) run into trouble. Re: [Flightgear-devel] some models updates available
When I tried to actually drop the water from the air, the animation was wrong. The transparency was missing and the bloom just grew around the aircraft and looked really strange and wrong. I had someone recently ask about setting up a larger simulation system to do water bomber training so I looked at the catalina a bit to see if the water bombing was still working end-to-end. So just to clarify ... the problem I was seeing was when you released the water, not when you pick it up. Thanks, Curt.
