More than likely you are using the wrong device node. what does

# ls /dev/input/by-id/

list. For instance my mce receiver is
/dev/input/by-id/usb-Topseed_Technology_Corp._eHome_Infrared_Transceiver_TS0003eF-event-if00

You may want to try the following numbers from linux/input.h

MUTE113
VOLUME DOWN  114
VOLUME UP115

I think the 0xe0 is "KEY_BRIGHTNESSDOWN  224"
Also not e haven't tried just a suggestion.

Maybe this will work for you.

Section "ServerFlags"
Option "BlankTime" "0"
Option "StandbyTime" "0"
Option "SuspendTime" "0"
Option "OffTime" "0"
EndSection

Also try adding the
Option "DPMS" "False"
line to your monitor section

Hi

try

#su freevo
//add freevo to end of .xinitrc
--->8-
#!/bin/sh
xmodmap ~/.Xmodmap

freevo

--->8-

#startx -- -config xorg.conf.tvout :1.0 vt09

not as nice as starting freevo starting x.
then put "startx -- -config xorg.conf.tvout :1.0 vt09"
in a script to start freevo to save time.

I I'm not sure if there is a easy way to add to the scripts, but I
just xinit and
have it start freevo. I can then start anything I may need, such as
nvidia-settings
to adjust the screen on the tv.

Hi
  I have attached an attempt at using vlc's python bindings. The main
problem is that the
bindings are only in the repo. They aren't distributed in the release.
Also some files (applies to the others interfaces as well) don't seek.
(mpeg-ts for instance)
Also I had naming problems( the python binding was named vlc,as was
plugins in freevo)
so it wouldn't load load the binding without removing vlc.py plugin
from the video player.
I would suggest rc, though the mediacontrolapi is a better approach long term.

Do these options work by them selves? I would suggest setting the
settings in vlc
and ignore VLC_OPTIONS. Though I just tried autocrop without freevo
and couldn't
get it to work.

I'm personally using compiz(overkill if you ask me) to manage the screen.
Not sure of another that works correctly though. :(

For mplayer the -fs option makes it fullscreen and over all other
windows.  What I
mean by floating is a normal window that a window manager manages and
can be moved.
set the following for instance will keep freevo itself from doing this.:
START_FULLSCREEN_X = 0
Check your local_conf.py for "-fs" for various video files you play as well.
also a window manger may be nessessary?

Shouldn't be. if the player you are using is displaying fullscreen rather than
a floating window that may fill the screen, it may be that the player is above \
the OSD.

Make sure that XMLTV_FILE points to your xmltv file.

XMLTV_FILE = '/Path/To/TV.xml'

Also Not sure if nessesary however my TV_CHANNELS
more looks like this.

 TV_CHANNELS = [
   ( '002f.0015.0790', 'BaseFM', '002f.0015.0790' ),
   ...

 I believe it is ('xmltv data' , 'Display Name' , 'Tuner')

However not sure why it doesn't display now.

Hi
   why not use dvbstreamer for getting data? The link below has
a script to do this . also I would suggest
you use "dvbctrl lsservices -- -id" and use the code before the ":"
it shouldn't change where as th other can.

  dvbctrl lsservices -- -id
00bd.0435.0003 : 12-1 WILL-HD
00bd.0435.0004 : 12-2 WILLSD1
00bd.0435.0005 : 12-3 WILLSD2

This should be right(not sure why you use -c). What options did you
use for setupdvbstreamer? it shouldn't segv when scanning, however
I don't understand why it is scanning 1243741221. Doesn't appear to be
the right frequency. what version of dvbstreamer are you using?

Re: [Freevo-users] [Freevo-devel] Whole house audio and iphone/ipod touch interface for freevo - initial stages started

2009-05-22 Thread Jonathan Isom
Hi
  I have a touch as well and would love a good web UI for the touch. awhile
ago(month or so ) I made some chnages to my install for manual recording and
for removing recordings. Mostly changes to fit the current stuff on
the screen better.
I haven't got a full setup so as to why I didn't post about it. Some
screens would be
nice to see what you have and I would be willing to test this out.

Jonathan

PS. I've only been able to create iPod compatible videos with ffmpeg.
Not mencoder. If anyone has tips for this please post.

I kinda like the idea, most (Mac, Win, Linux x86*) support flash
and it would be one less plugin to install (especially on another computer
that you don't maintain). It doesn't appear difficult to install on a
server, just
did a sample install on apache. The down side is that it has a limit on file
support. the VLC Web plugin supports most formats , there for more flexible.
Flowplayer list flv and mp4 files as supported. with mpeg4 and h264 as
supported codecs. I'm not sure if this is good to include it in the release,
however it shouldn't be to hard to create a patch for those that would like.

You can try something like this. Change MYSTART to "/pathto/freevo
-- recordserver  start" or
"/pathto/freevo -- recordserver --daemon" depending how new of freevo
you use and MYSTOP to
"/pathto/freevo -- recordserver stop" or "/pathto/freevo --
recordserver  --stop".

note you don't need the quotes.

Hey

How long is "a long time". Shouldn't be more than 3.3 secs. freevo buffers
3 seconds,  vlc defaults 300 milleseconds(I believe).

This is intentional for seeking. As is the various ports. Freevo
reads 1235 and relays
video from the hard drive to 50007.

Yep. Though still not sure why it was starting late. possibly if it
only has minute precision maybe it caused it to skip?

I think I found "my" problem.  I tried this ( * 60).

TV_RECORD_PADDING_PRE = 3 * 60
TV_RECORD_PADDING_POST = 2 * 60

However from the localconf.py.example

# start every recording X minutes before scheduled,
# and stop X minutes after scheduled - default to zero minutes.
# This must be a value in seconds although at the moment only has
# the percision of one minute.
# TV_RECORD_PADDING_PRE = 0
# TV_RECORD_PADDING_POST = 0

Does this mean that we have seconds precision now?

any ideas what is going wrong?
- Relevent config options   -

plugin_record = plugin.activate('tv.dvbstreamer.record')

TV_RECORD_PADDING_PRE = 3

Remotes that use the evdev interface tend to be device that are hard
coded. If you plan on using the harmony remote you probably need to
use lirc somehow. The tv card device are usually hard coded to the
remote that came with it.

Have a look at the autostart plugin then.

$ freevo plugins -i autostart
Name: autostart
Type: DaemonPlugin
File: /usr/lib64/python2.5/site-packages/freevo/plugins/autostart.py

Description:

The autostart plugin allows you to define an action that will be called when
the user do not interact in the first few seconds. With this it is possible to
define a default action e.g. starting radio if there is no other activity.

To activate the autostart plugin add to local_conf.py::

plugin.activate('autostart')
AUTOSTART_EVENTS = (
'MENU_DOWN', 'MENU_DOWN', 'MENU_SELECT', 'MENU_SELECT',
)

Plugin configuration variables:
---
AUTOSTART_EVENTS: list of events to send to freevo at start up
Default: []

AUTOSTART_TIMEOUT: Numbers of seconds to time out if there is no action
Default: 5

The plugin is not activated in the current setting

This loads a flash player. You'll need to find a stream that mplayer
can play on its own,ie. `mplayer url`

attached to it is a config for the second record server. I use
dvbstreamer but it can be adapted for other
configs. the local_conf.py file should work as a starting point.

Hi
   So you have 2*2=4 cards? currently freevo's recordserver can record
1 card only. I posted a while back how to have 2 recodservers running
on the same computer. It should work for 4 servers as well. the main problem
bing that you have to conflict resolve on your own, ie via the web interface
logging in via the web interface of each recordserver and setting recording
on each one.

I use the livepause plugin with atsc. It can use vlc, xine, or
mplayer for display. I run a script to cycle and dump xmltv data from
dvbstreamer. If only all the local stations actually broadcast the
data. btw atsc epg data is only supportted by myth and dvbstreamer

[Freevo-users] livepause and vlc 0.9.x

2008-10-11 Thread Jonathan Isom
Hello
   I noticed that the livepause plugin now uses vlc to display the overlay
(I'm real observant, Today at least :) However with the 0.9.x series vlc wants
an actual image to start.
vlc --sub-filter vlc --sub-filter [EMAIL PROTECTED] --logo-file
/tmp/vlcosd.png -I rc video
will work if /tmp/vlcosd.png exists ,and
vlc --sub-filter vlc --sub-filter [EMAIL PROTECTED] --logo-file dummy -I rc
video
does not (probably should be reported to vlc)

also the object defined on commandline @mylogo needs to precede the commands.
for instance to display:
@mylogo logo-file /tmp/vlcosd.png
@mylogo logo-transparency 220
@mylogo logo-position 8

to Hide
@mylogo logo-file dummy

Is the kaa.display interface depreated?

also this patch (also attached) I believe, both changes are needed
for vlc 0.9.x
without the second change all you can do is pause, no seeking.

it should be already on the wiki. I personally am in atsc land with 2
cards. I posted a config for a second record server awhile back.
upside is I can record 2 shows at once. downside I have to do the
conflict resolution manually. I use dvbstreamer with this and setup
and the main record server and freevo main share the first card for
viewing and recording. I don't personally know much about dvb-s
however for atsc you cycle from 1 multiplex to the next to download
epg info. I have a script that does the cycling to only cycle when the
dvbstreamer server is not being used.locally they are still getting there
digital acts together so sometimes I only get 5of 6 multiplexes of epg
which is better then the 4 before. If only they would broadcast more days
though.

recently mouse input has been added. What is happening is the mouse is
moving the input on start. I don't know if the is a way to turn it
off for users
that don't want it. However you could find a console program to move the
mouse at start.

That I believe is a focus issue. the player has the focus and freevo
doesn't receive the events.

I believe that he is refering to mpeg2 hd. About a year ago the nvidia binary
drivers stopped working with agp cards for decoding mpeg2 content.

The Main Thing is driver support for the 1600. You may want to check
linuxtv.org
for that card. Either linux-dvb mailing list or the wiki. according to
the wiki it
experimental at the moment, though the wiki could be out of date(dated Jan 08).
The rest should be supported. The cpu looks good for atsc. I don't know where
you live, however dvbstreamer( used by freevo for livepause plugin for dvb/atsc)
supports ota download of tv listings, assuming all are broadcasting
them in your area.
The hardest part is getting a card that is supported under linux.
Also The single pci
slot may be a future problem as you may decide to add a second card to
record while
watching/record another.

limited support for slave control. very limited seeking with current version.

Looks like a permission problem.
try changing the permissions of /var/cache/freevo/
chown -R YOURFREEVOUSER:users /var/cache/freevo/
should fix it or set
FREEVO_CACHEDIR
to a different directory

Not with devede.. However if you don't want a menu it would be fairly
trivial to
use a bash script to do it all. dvdauthor just creates the file
structure, run mkiso
after to create the iso,, then burn it.

Re: [Freevo-users] NEF (Nikon RAW) Image Viewer

2008-05-18 Thread Jonathan Isom
Well I believe there are 3 ways todo this.
1 implement the loading of raw images in imlib2
  (ideal, source for dcraw is available (used by ufraw)as is imlib2)
2 modify kaa.imlib2 to try to convert files in currently fails on
 I doubt such a hack will make it in kaa.imlib2
3 modify freevo to try to convert files kaa.imlib2 fails.
 I doubt such a hack will make it in freevo
 also more code to change.

You best bet is probably to have a mirror directory that uses the same
resolution as the display your are going to display on. cache all the images
there . problem with this is obviously the images take up more space.
2 & 3 will be very slow converting the image from raw to an intermediate
format then loaded by imlib2 and converted for display. maybe someone else
can provide more insight and ideas.

These are the supported outputs from ufraw.
ppm8 ppm16 tiff8 tiff16 png8 png16 jpeg fits   (default ppm8).
as you shoot raw for the purpose of quality and I don't have any raws
to test with its hard to say which format would work best with freevo.
also what is the default extension for raws (.raw?) I can tell it would
be easy to load the images with a quick( I hope) convertion however
It may be more complicated (havn't look there yet) for thumbs.

Found this on linux.com.   http://www.linux.com/feature/135096

Gloss is intended to be a drop-in replacement for the existing MythTV frontend.
 It is written in Python however uses the Clutter OpenGL framework
with the intent
 of producing a visually richer interface than the existing MythTV frontend.

Havn't checked out the code but may be of interest as it uses python
as a replacement
myth front end. It may have some useful ideas and code :).

Thought someone might find it interesting

I think it default to no repeat now.

example
begin
prog = irxevent
repeat = 1
button = leftbracket
config = Key bracketleft Focus FireFox

Don't know about that method. If you have dvb the author of
dvbstreamer,  Adam Charrett, has
a new live pause plugin that can be used over a network. It is in svn.
 It may be to your liking.

Hey
   My recordserver crashes on startup. I'm using latest kaa & freevo
1x. I tried going back with both to earlier
version of svn(2970 of kaa & 10300 of freevo so far) . any ideas what is wrong?

[Freevo-users] rtsp and vlc

2008-01-30 Thread Jonathan Isom
Hi
   I beleive the vlc video plugin currently works with rtsp streams.
I was wondering
how to properly set this up for testing. I'm currently looking in to
adding support for
normal files(avi,mpeg, etc). and don't want to break the old functionality.

I tested the changes with version 1.0 rc2. 1.0rc1 of mplayer is very old (2006)
and many changes have been made. Is it at all possible that you could compile
a newer version of mplayer. That would probably solve 1 & 2. You are probably
right in that 3 was caused by premature stopping caused by 1 &2 Also
what distro are
you using out of curiosity?

if it will work with linux. Do you have a tv module enabled in your

You can set the following in your local_conf.py and Just select start
encoding(if
you select another profile it will overwrite these options)
 or you can try svn which has more options btw.
REENCODE_CONTAINER = 'avi'
REENCODE_RESOLUTION = '720:405'
REENCODE_VIDEOCODEC = 'MPEG 4 (lavc)'
REENCODE_VIDEOBITRATE = 3800
REENCODE_AUDIOCODEC = 'MPEG 1 Layer 3 (mp3)'
REENCODE_AUDIOBITRATE = 128
REENCODE_NUMPASSES = 1
REENCODE_VIDEOFILTER = None

Not sure this will help. When freevo parse its output if a certain
lines are changed
it may hang something. I'd try to see the differences of the output
of mplayer.  Then
probably use that info to correct the mplayer.py the regexes to need changing

Thanks again, Somehow I had 2 calls returning to the same variable
so the first wasn't being shutdown
cause the second was overwriting it .

   Is the stop and unregister functions functional. I would think
they are for stopping
a timer from further execution but they don't seem to be doing what I
expect, if anything.

[Freevo-users] way to call a function 1 or 2 times a minute

2008-01-18 Thread Jonathan Isom
Hi
   I'm working on a vlc plugin for the live pause plugin and I
want/need to call a function once or twice a minute.
I want to send a command to vlc to be read by the plugin. this works
but I'm not sure the best way to call it.
the purpose of the function is to update amount of subtitles and audio
tracks that my get updated from time to
time with different shows.  should I put an  `if time.time() % 60 ==
0:' in the event loop or use another method.
