[Freevo-users] Freevo DVD encodingserver pluging usage

2008-10-04 Thread Sandip Devnath
hi,

I tried to follow the information in following page as well as in "freevo
plugins -i video.dvdbackup"

http://doc.freevo.org/MoviePlugins/Encodingserver

I was able to start the encoding server, I see
http://doc.freevo.org/MoviePlugins/Encodingserver

I see there is one process running in same name
5971 1  0 17:54 pts/200:00:02 python
/usr/lib/python2.5/site-packages/freevo/helpers/encodingserver.py

Now the basic question I have is I don't see any option once I go to DVD. I
also pressed E button, however I see ohter options there, but not
ripping/encoding option.

How do I start the encoding ?

Where the encoding file is going to be ?

Sandip

Re: [Freevo-users] Fedora 9 a good choice for Freevo?

2008-10-04 Thread Sandip Devnath
Recently I updated from Fedora 8 to 9.

The good think about Fedora is it fast to boot.
However I run into many dependencies issue in yum update, able to resolve most
of the issue from Google and Fedora forums. Now my following things are up in
freevo
 - Movies
 - Audio
 - Audio CD + Ripping
 - Photos

My XML feed is not up. This used to work earlier on FC8. I still need to debug,
hope it is a small issue.

Next my plan is for following
  - U tube
  - Internet radio

Hi list,

A quick question, bit off-topic (sorry about that) but I don't know any
other place to turn with this question. Wiki-pages are not 100% clear
about this...

Is Fedora 9 OK to use with Freevo ?

[Freevo-users] Getting exception "Info instance has no attribute 'mmdata'", while playing DVD

2008-10-04 Thread Sandip Devnath
hi,

I upgraded 1.8.2 using source install from following page. My previous version
was 1.8.1.

http://sourceforge.net/project/showfiles.php?group_id=46652

After this I am getting following exception

Traceback (most recent call last):
  File "/usr/lib64/python2.5/threading.py", line 460, in __bootstrap

  File "/usr/lib/python2.5/site-packages/freevo/plugins/rom_drives.py", line

  File "/usr/lib/python2.5/site-packages/freevo/plugins/rom_drives.py", line

data = disc_info.mmdata
AttributeError: Info instance has no attribute 'mmdata'

Seems like  plugins/rom_drivers.py and site-packages/freevo/util/mediainfo.py
are out of synch.

So, recommendation is not to update from source install ?
My initial install was also using source install, I update to new since there
too xine.py and vedioitem.py were not synch.

Thanks for help

Re: [Freevo-users] Desperately seeking a motherboard that doesn't suck

2008-09-25 Thread Sandip Devnath
I use following motherboard (AMD based though).

I too use SPDIF, I installed linux driver from Realtek for my Realtek ALC889A
audio chip on the board. So my SPDIF is working great with my receiver using
Fedora 9 and 8.
GIGABYTE
GA-MA69GM-S2H AM2 AMD 690G HDMI Micro ATX

Fedora 9 has some issue i.e. I have hard time to switch on the SPDIF.

I end up adding following line in /etc/rc.local
"/usr/bin/amixer set IEC958 unmute"

So I guess
Realtek ALC889A or similar model from Realtek based any mother should be fine
for SPDIF(since Realtek seems to understand Linux importance ).

I just restarted the freevo box to try find its motherboard number.
It's a ASUS V-series and my only linux trouble was the gigabit lan so I added
an ethernet card.
the splash screen has no id, the motherboard book doesn't help
and i'm not opening the case to find it on the board!

Re: [Freevo-users] Problem in playing/ripping Audio CD

2008-09-24 Thread Sandip Devnath
hi,

Any solution to this problem:

I can't play audio CD, I see freevo is using /usr/bin/fbxine to play the audio
CD. /usr/bin/fbxine doesn't seems to work even without freevo on Fedora 9. So I
want to use some other player. After reading Faq and mailing list porting I
tried following.

plugin.remove('audio.xine')

However freevo log still show that it is using fbxine. How can I make sure
freevo choose mplayer for playing CD.

I have one more question about ripping CD. Do we have any user document on
following ?

plugin.activate('audio.cdbackup')

Subject: [Freevo-users] Problem in playing/ripping Audio CD

hi,

I install FC9 and freevo 1.8.1.

When I play the CD I get following error

'/usr/bin/fbxine -V none -A oss:/dev/dsp --stdctl --no-lirc
cfg:/input.cdda_device:/dev/sr0 cdda:/14'

fbxine-stderr-500.log has following msg

"Audio port failed."

I have hard time making Xine to work on my FC9 due to some dependencies crap.
So I added following to use mplayer. Still above is the result

plugin.activate('audio.cdbackup')
plugin.remove('audio.xine')<==
CD_RIP_TMP_DIR = '/tmp/'
CD_RIP_TMP_NAME = 'track_%(track)s_being_ripped'
CD_RIP_PN_PREF = '%(artist)s/%(album)s/%(track)s - %(song)s'
CD_RIP_CDPAR_OPTS = '-s'
CD_RIP_LAME_OPTS = '--vbr-new -b 192 -h'
CD_RIP_OGG_OPTS = '-m 128'
CD_RIP_FLAC_OPTS = '-8'
CD_RIP_CASE = None # Can be title, upper, lower
CD_RIP_REPLACE_SPACE = None # Can be '_', '-', etc.

As you can see that I enabled cdbackup plugin too, I don't see any option or
menu to do the cdbackup. I never used this plugin earlier, I am not sure, how
that plugin should be used even if it is getting active unless some obvious GUI
display is done for this plugin.

Following works perfect for shutdown.

vi /etc/sudoers (EDIT: please use visudo instead)
comment out: #Default requiretty

Now only issue is freevo keep asking for conformation even, when I set
following

SHUTDOWN_CONFIRM  = 0

Thanks

Does the following solve the problem?

Do you mean that you always get a confirmation box?

Cheers,

[Freevo-users] Shutdown is not happening

2008-07-13 Thread Sandip Devnath

OS: Fedora Linux

I tried following

1)
Added following line in /etc/suders
---
Cmnd_Alias POWER = /usr/bin/poweroff, /sbin/shutdown, /sbin/halt
sandip  ALL=(ALL)  NOPASSWD: POWER
--

2).
Modified .freevo/local_conf.py

with following
SHUTDOWN_CONFIRM   = 0
SYS_SHUTDOWN_ENABLE = 1
SYS_SHUTDOWN_CMD = "sudo poweroff"
SYS_RESTART_CMD = "sudo shutdown -r now"

3).
Start freevo as user "sandip"

4).
>From freevo GUI I shutdown the sytem. I get following error

sudo: sorry, you must have a tty to run sudo

Then I try removing sudo word from the command i.e.
SHUTDOWN_CONFIRM   = 0

SYS_SHUTDOWN_ENABLE = 1

SYS_SHUTDOWN_CMD = "poweroff"

SYS_RESTART_CMD = "shutdown -r now

I get following error. I tried shutdown too.

shutdown:you must be root to do that!
poweroff: must be superuser.

Beside this even though I did "SHUTDOWN_CONFIRM  = 0". I prompted for
conformation.

Thanks,
Sandip

Re: [Freevo-users] Starting up freevo, when fedora comes up

2008-07-07 Thread Sandip Devnath
The sound works using /dev/dsp , if I start from command line manually.

How the issue is only if I start from /etc/rc.d/rc.local.

Look like now things are working fine. Source: google

 Edit /etc/security/console.perms.d/50-whatever it's called, and add

    =/dev/dsp* /dev/snd/*

    Then, at the bottom add

     0666  0666 root

Have you tried setting the audio to use alsa?

XINE_TV_AO_DEV = 'alsa'

2008-07-07 Thread Sandip Devnath

I tried this

i.e. adding following  in
/etc/rc.d/rc.local

su -l sandip -c "/usr/bin/freevo -fs"

since my freevo is not set for root user.

I still see that there is no sound.

I see following message from freevo.

I used to do that to until I switched to Ratpoison as a window manager.

One trick I found is that you can start Freevo from an ssh session by doing

freevo -fs :0 to specify display 0.

Hope that helps!

[Freevo-users] Starting up freevo, when fedora comes up

2008-07-03 Thread Sandip Devnath
hi,

I tried following on my fedora init.d
/etc/init.d/freevo

prog="freevo"

start() {
    echo -n $"Starting $prog: "
    if [ $UID -ne 0 ]; then
    RETVAL=1
    failure
    else
    daemon 'su -l sandip -c "/usr/bin/freevo -fs $OPTIONS"'
    fi;
    echo
    return $RETVAL
}

This I just copy pasted from snmd example. Freevo starts, but there is no
sound. I think OS still not done with full initialization so sound is not
available for freevo.

Did any one tried starting freevo as soon as system(linux) comes up.

[Freevo-users] Can I print harddisk temperature where free disk status is shown ?

2008-07-03 Thread Sandip Devnath
hddtemp on linux gets these value. I think I want to know my hard disk
temperature too since it is very important for me to keep my HDD healthy. If it
is getting too much heated up then I would like to get alarm or shut the system
down. Recently I have many HDD issue (300gb+ in 2 years) and I end up loosing
data. Most of those loss was due to not having good air flow around the hard
disk.

Can someone point me the python code, where the free space logic is there ?

[Freevo-users] Picture link doesn't display directory names

2008-07-01 Thread Sandip Devnath
hi,

I setup Freevo for my all movies, songs and photos.
It is working pretty well.

However
I see that directory name is not coming under the directory icon. If I
take the cursor selection to particular directory icon then you can see
the directory name. However I have organized my 9GB photos in directory
structure i.e. each my trip/even is named as directory and then
corresponding photos are placed.

Beside this I see that pictures
are not shown in the original size, I have 42 LCD TV and I see that all
my photos are stretched. i.e. I look more fatter in all photos :)

Is there a way to switch on slide show ?

I
see around 20 % photos are displayed reverse. I use left/right arrow to
correct that. Is n't there any way the tools can find that
automatically. I see those photos are always shown up in windows. Don't
know how come windows become so intelligent.

so far I am pretty happy with freevo, thanks to freevo community.

Re: [Freevo-users] Not able to use VLC pluggin

2008-06-30 Thread Sandip Devnath
This problem is gone after I adding following changes in local_conf.py.

VLC_CMD = ' --fullscreen --verbose 2'

However now when I play a movie mplayer is always selected.

following are few of my setings.

VIDEO_XINE_SUFFIX = [ 'cue', 'iso' , 'nrg' ]
VIDEO_PREFERED_PLAYER = 'vlc'
