Please stop it now. War is never ok. For nobody. No need to discuss here. Peter Bruderer On 06.01.2009, at 14:47, john doe wrote: First of all, I apologiye for talking about this in a security mailing list, but seeing all controversz around, I would like to make clear some facts: 1) Israel is using a revenge politics for ages. Eye for 1000 eyes, I would call it, cancelling passes thru the borders to palestinian residents, indiscriminate bombing, etc. 2)You want facts? Sure, -Fri Jan 2, 2009 6:57pm EST. Israeli armored forces remained poised on the Gaza border for a possible ground operation, a week after Israel launched devastating air strikes with the declared aim of ending rocket attacks on its southern towns. Gaza medical officials put the Palestinian casualty toll at least 429 dead and 2,000 wounded. A United Nations agency said more than a quarter of those killed in the Gaza Strip were civilians. A leading Palestinian human rights group put the figure at 40 percent. Four Israelis have been killed by Palestinian rockets since Israel's offensive began, including longer-range weapons that have hit the port of Ashdod and the desert town of Beersheba, forcing schools to shut and residents to scurry for shelter. (as usual, 4 soldiers dead, 400 palestinian murdered in revenge, no surprise, old school Sharon style). In the Israeli-blockaded Gaza Strip, 1.5 million Palestinians are unable to escape the conflict. Residents face bombs, missiles and flickering electricity, and queue for bread along streets littered with broken glass and other debris. Ten Palestinians were killed Friday in more than 30 Israeli air strikes. Seven of them were civilians, including five children, local medics said. One missile killed three Palestinian children aged between eight and 12 as they played on a street near the town of Khan Yunis in the south of the strip. One was decapitated. Islamist fighters fired rockets at Israel's ancient port of Ashkelon, blowing out windows in an apartment building. Another house took a direct hit from a long-range missile later in the day, and cars were set ablaze. (extract from http://www.reuters.com/article/topNews/idUSLS69391620090102?feedType=RSS&feedName=topNews ) This is the truth. These are the facts. Israel has a constant harassment and punishment politic against palestinian people. I don' t care about what your politics could BUY in the 20's with the help of USA, I don't cry for your soldiers (as they accept a job where they are well paid to possibly DIE) , I care about families who cannot meet each other. I care about total block of basic supplies (and don't give me that shit about humanitarian help, etc... these are people, not begging anything, they have their rights and Israel decides when they have them and when they don't). I am spanish, quite neutral until I ' ve seen what this dammed people (much more extremist than Hamas, but with suits, crying and smiles they look like poor nice bussinessmen, they suffered so much in the past..) have done to a beautiful land. They grow kids in hate for Palestinian (you can say Palestinian too, but this is a normal after the massacre of your family and people). So please , stop chewing your stupid propaganda (nobody believes out of Israel, for sure not in Eurpe, maybe in some McDonald's in Tenesse...) and LOOK FOR A PACIFIC SOLUTION (and you hd the chance in the past, but you want the WHOLE CAKE in the name of the Tora, a book some priest/politician wrote, remember?). If not, go to Palestine (as I did) , and talk from YOUR OWN MOUTH. And PLEASE, stop polluting every media with your fake facts and Eternal Truth. This is a Security Mailing list, for people who (shouldn't) believe in your crap, people with interest in Absolute Truth from HIS OWN EXPERIENCE (isn't that Full Disclosure?). Shalom (remeber? === Ubuntu Security Notice USN-701-1 January 06, 2009 thunderbird vulnerabilities CVE-2008-5500, CVE-2008-5503, CVE-2008-5506, CVE-2008-5507, CVE-2008-5508, CVE-2008-5510, CVE-2008-5511, CVE-2008-5512 === A security issue affects the following Ubuntu releases: Ubuntu 7.10 Ubuntu 8.04 LTS Ubuntu 8.10 This advisory also applies to the corresponding versions of Kubuntu, Edubuntu, and Xubuntu. The problem can be corrected by upgrading your system to the following package versions: Ubuntu 7.10: thunderbird 2.0.0.19+nobinonly-0ubuntu0.7.10.1 Ubuntu 8.04 LTS: thunderbird 2.0.0.19+nobinonly-0ubuntu0.8.04.1 Ubuntu 8.10: thunderbird 2.0.0.19+nobinonly-0ubuntu0.8.10.1 After a standard system upgrade you need to restart Thunderbird to effect the necessary changes. Details follow: Several flaws were discovered in the browser engine. If a user had Javascript enabled, these problems could allow an attacker to crash Thunderbird and possibly execute arbitrary code with user privileges. (CVE-2008-5500) Boris Zbarsky discovered that the same-origin check in Thunderbird could be bypassed by utilizing XBL-bindings. If a user had Javascript enabled, an attacker could exploit this to read data from other domains. (CVE-2008-5503) Marius Schilder discovered that Thunderbird did not properly handle redirects to an outside domain when an XMLHttpRequest was made to a same-origin resource. When Javascript is enabled, it's possible that sensitive information could be revealed in the XMLHttpRequest response. (CVE-2008-5506) Chris Evans discovered that Thunderbird did not properly protect a user's data when accessing a same-domain Javascript URL that is redirected to an unparsable Javascript off-site resource. If a user were tricked into opening a malicious website and had Javascript enabled, an attacker may be able to steal a limited amount of private data. (CVE-2008-5507) Chip Salzenberg, Justin Schuh, Tom Cross, and Peter William discovered Thunderbird did not properly parse URLs when processing certain control characters. (CVE-2008-5508) Kojima Hajime discovered that Thunderbird did not properly handle an escaped null character. An attacker may be able to exploit this flaw to bypass script sanitization. (CVE-2008-5510) Several flaws were discovered in the Javascript engine. If a user were tricked into opening a malicious website and had Javascript enabled, an attacker could exploit this to execute arbitrary Javascript code within the context of another website or with chrome privileges. [Full-disclosure] "Security Assessment of the Internet Protocol" & the IETF
-BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE- Hash: SHA256 Folks, In August 2008 the UK CPNI (United Kingdom's Centre for the Protection of National Infrastructure) published the document "Security Assessment of the Internet Protocol". The motivation of the aforementioned document is explained in the Preface of the document itself. (The paper is available at: http://www.cpni.gov.uk/Docs/InternetProtocol.pdf ) Once the paper was published by CPNI, I produced an IETF Internet-Draft version of the same paper, with the intent of having the IETF publish recommendations and/or update the specifications where necessary. This IETF Internet-Draft is available at: http://www.gont.com.ar/drafts/ip-security/index.html (and of course it's also available at the IETF I-D repository). The Internet-Draft I published was aimed at the OPSEC WG. And the Working Group is right now deciding whether to accept this document as a WG item. This is certainly a critical step. Having the OPSEC WG accept this document as a WG item would guarantee to some extent that the IETF will do something about all this, and would also somehow set a precedent in updating the specifications of core protocols and/or providing advice on security aspects of them. The call for consensus is available at: http://www.ietf.org/mail-archive/web/opsec/current/msg00373.html . You can voice your opinion on the relevant mailing-list sending an e-mail to op...@ietf.org . You don't need to subscribe to the mailing list to post a message (although your message will be held for moderator approval before it is distributed to the list members). The deadline for posting your opinion is January 9th (next Friday). Thanks so much! [Full-disclosure] About Israel-Palestine affair
First of all, I apologiye for talking about this in a security mailing list, but seeing all controversz around, I would like to make clear some facts: 1) Israel is using a revenge politics for ages. It means PEACE ). ___ Full-Disclosure - We believe in it. Charter: http://lists.grok.org.uk/full-disclosure-charter.html Hosted and sponsored by Secunia - http://secunia.com/

Re: [Full-disclosure] The war in Palestine
Relativisation in this case is neccessary, because the UK took this land from arabians, and gived it to jews mostly because it was supposedly them promised land. Before that maybe not much arabians was living there, but still it was them land. The not legit attribution in 1948 of the land to israel was the conflict starter and still today, now excuses have changed, palestinian are throwing rocks and old school rockets around the border in israel. What have changed so far ? as i sayed in my first post on this topic, israel is very young 61 years old, and have been in war with all of them neighbors, also while fighting with them, israel once again has taken more land during theses wars. I can understand why palestinian mothers are telling to theirs sons to wear a bomb, and blow themself to kill some israelians, i totally do not approve this, but as a mather of fact, i understand the despair for this people (open-mind is a crime ?). Also as i sayed in my first post, another problem of Israelites is that they think they are elected by god... and then are superior to any other race/religion, i'm not inventing nothing here.. it's written in the Thora. Just this fact is a fundamental communication problem, for any discution because persons such as Avraham will always overlook the others point of view. I'm not pro-palestinian or pro-israel, the only thing i know is relativisation in such conflict should be always the first thing to do before dumping any crap from your brain. A correction for Avraham: Jews != Israel Sionists != Jews Also you sayed that jews that dont support the state and actions of israel, are not real jews, or have lost the believe, this again is propaganda , as the US government was doing in USA a few years ago, "if you're not for the invasion/war in irak/afghanistan, you're not a real american". 2009/1/6 Ed Carp > On Tue, Jan 6, 2009 at 2:14 AM, j-f sentier wrote: > > > "what would you call your lies" > > Which lies ? > > You're tunnel-focused on your point, with no relativisation at all, which > > Relativism is for opinions, not for fact. > > > There's two side on a medial, dont forget that, that's why i say you're > > doing propaganda, while criticizing the other propaganda. > > No, there's not - the only side is the truth, the facts, which I guess > you choose to label as lies and propaganda. [Full-disclosure] [SECURITY] [DSA 1694-2] New xterm packages fix regression
-BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE- Hash: SHA1 - Debian Security Advisory DSA-1694-2 secur...@debian.org http://www.debian.org/security/ Florian Weimer January 06, 2009 http://www.debian.org/security/faq - Package: xterm Vulnerability : design flaw Problem type : local (remote) Debian-specific: no CVE Id(s) : CVE-2008-2383 Debian Bug : 510030 The xterm update in DSA-1694-1 disabled font changing as a precaution. However, users reported that they need this feature. The update in this DSA makes font shifting through escape sequences configurable, using a new allowFontOps X resource, and unconditionally enables font changing through keyboard sequences. For the stable distribution (etch), this problem has been fixed in version 222-1etch4. For the testing distribution (lenny), this problem has been fixed in version 235-2. For the unstable distribution (sid), this problem has been fixed in version 238-2. We recommend that you upgrade your xterm package. Upgrade instructions - wget url will fetch the file for you dpkg -i file.deb will install the referenced file. If you are using the apt-get package manager, use the line for sources.list as given below: apt-get update will update the internal database apt-get upgrade will install corrected packages You may use an automated update by adding the resources from the footer to the proper configuration. Lie #1: There was such a country named Palestine, for the Palestinian people. Fact #1: There never was such a country until 1920 - what is today referred to as "the Palestinian people" were nomadic tribes that made their homes in encampments in the deserts of Jordan and Egypt. "Palestine" was only enacted as a separate protectorate in 1920 by the British Mandate in 1920. The region referred to as "Palestine" in historical terms encompassed a much wider area, comprising Jrodan, Egypt, and many other Middle Eastern countries. Until 1920, there never were any formal boundaries or a formal country. Lie #2: Israel stole Palestine from the Palestinians. Fact #2: In 1920, the British Mandate formed Palestine for the intent of "creating a national home for the Jewish prople" (note this doesn't say anything about Arabs or Palestinians). In 1947, the UN approved splitting Palestine into two parts - one Jewish, one Arab. In 1948, the Jewish part of Palestine declared its independence, calling itself "Israel". From http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Israel: After 1945 the United Kingdom became embroiled in an increasingly violent conflict with the Jews.[50] In 1947, the British government withdrew from commitment to the Mandate of Palestine, stating it was unable to arrive at a solution acceptable to both Arabs and Jews.[51] The newly created United Nations approved the UN Partition Plan (United Nations General Assembly Resolution 181) on November 29, 1947, dividing the country into two states, one Arab and one Jewish. Jerusalem was to be designated an international city - a corpus separatum - administered by the UN to avoid conflict over its status.[52] The Jewish community accepted the plan,[53] but the Arab League and Arab Higher Committee rejected it.[54] On December 1, 1947 the Arab Higher Committee proclaimed a 3-day strike, and Arab guerrilla attacks began against Jewish targets. Convinced that these attacks were merely a prelude to full-scale military confrontations with the regular armies of the Arab states, Ben-Gurion elected to escalate the military conflict. As such, Haganah embarked on a policy of "aggressive defense." This strategy was accompanied by economic subversion and psychological warfare.[55] On May 14, 1948, the day before the end of the British Mandate, the Jewish Agency proclaimed independence, naming the country Israel. The following day five Arab countries - Egypt, Syria, Jordan, Lebanon and Iraq -invaded Israel, launching the 1948 Arab-Israeli War.[56] Morocco, Sudan, Yemen and Saudi Arabia also sent troops to assist the invaders. After a year of fighting, a ceasefire was declared and temporary borders, known as the Green Line, were established. Jordan annexed what became known as the West Bank and East Jerusalem, and Egypt took control of the Gaza Strip. Israel was admitted as a member of the United Nations on May 11, 1949.[57] During the war 711,000 Arabs, according to UN estimates, or about 80% of the previous Arab population, fled the country.[58] The fate of the Palestinian refugees today is a major point of contention in the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.[59][60] ___ Full-Disclosure - We believe in it. Hi, > It's off topic for this thread. FD, by it's very nature, is designed I wonder why so much effort is spent discussing a self-signed web interface for unsubscribing from a mialing list - when the email headers clearly state how to leave via an email message and not bother with a web interface at all. most decent email clients can deal with such mailing list headers. > Also, don't just change ths subject, please. Make a new thread. Simply > changing the topic does not make it a new thread, many mail clients > show it as part of the same thread. aye. A bane of my life. I wrote a draft RFC which covered 2 mechanisms to allow email clients to break the message thread (specifically unhook the In-Reply-To and Reference headers) if the client detected that a thread was being hijacked (eg subject deleted with a new one - or the entire body of the email deleted (so no reply > lines etc) - unfortunately there wasnt much support :-| alan ___ Full-Disclosure - We believe in it. Re: [Full-disclosure] The war in Palestine
The basic facts: * Israel has always tried to prevent injuring civilians. The number of innocent Palestinian civilians intentionally targeted by Israel is precisely zero. The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) has been trying to pinpoint the terrorists themselves, many of whom unfortunately hide behind civilians as shields, in their houses and in their mosques. * Despite the recent violence, Israel continues to facilitate humanitarian assistance to Gaza. In just the past few days, while Hamas has continued to fire rockets into Israel, more than 60 truckloads of humanitarian supplies and 105,000 gallons of fuel were transferred to Gaza. Israel also continues to provide 70 percent of Gaza's electricity. * Since Israel's 2005 full withdrawal from Gaza, Hamas has indiscriminately fired more than 6,500 rockets at Israeli population centers; more than 3000 were fired in 2008 alone. * Hamas, backed by Iran, has turned Gaza into a daily launching pad of terror against thousands Israeli civilians for years. * Hamas stores its large cache of illegally smuggled arms in, and launches its daily barrage of missiles from, large civilian population centers placing innocent Palestinian civilians directly in the line of fire. * No country in the world would tolerate a situation where its civilians are terrorized daily by rockets fired from across the border. * If American civilians would have become targets to such terror attacks from across the border, does anyone doubt the US would respond very forcefully? Viewed from this perspective, Israel has shown restraint to date.
