PB G4 667 DVI backup battery only with PMU-card
I seem to lack the proper manual, but isn't it odd that a place like Wegenermedia only want to sell the backup battery for the Powerbook G4 667 DVI only with the PMU board? Are they fused as one item physically or it just an Apple repair/spare part thing? Would it be feasible to get just the right batteries off the shelf and replace those in the 667 DVI? I tried to find the battery source someone tipped us off to some time ago, but I couldn't find it as I don't remember the name. If you do, please send it my way. -- G-Books is sponsored by http://lowendmac.com/ and... Re: Anyone here use virtual PC?
Thanks, that did the trick- I'm now running Win 2K pro on my ibook, and it seems to be running great. One thing though, I wouldn't really call it a problem, since I'm sure that VPC wasn't designed with this in mind, but I'd like to know what I can do jsut the same: I'd like to run an older game, five years old to be exact, and the VPC software doesn't seem to be recognizing my vid card as a 3D card. I'm quite aware that VPC wasn't intedned as a gaming platform, but I had hoped to also use it to run my very old copy of Starfleet Command. I'm not certain this is the issue, but this IS how it acted when I was on my old PC that had no vid card. Brian I recently solved this problem by finding a floppy image for Win98 which allowed me to install Win95 too. You have to mount the floppy image first, then make sure the CD is captured, then restart. It took some doing but I did get it to work. NOTE: after installation, be sure to enable undo drives. Excellent feature. Also, I am doing to save copies of the VPC6 files to DVD so that I won't have to start all over again if/when something goes really wrong. However, it won't help any. I think all VPC emulates non-accelerated video card. Games are going to suck performance wise. Steve -- G-Books is sponsored by http://lowendmac.com/ and... Re: 'New' Pismo probs.
Thanks for your suggestions Laurent. Swapping bits between the old and new Pismos, I have isolated two separate problems; the interminable boot seems to be a HD cable problem, so will try to fix or get a new cable. But the PMU needs to be reset every time I restart otherwise I don't get any video (black screen). What could this be? Is there any point to reinstall the firmware? If you put back the old processor, do you have to reset the PMU everytime you restart? I think you have the latest firmware but I would have to check on my Pismo, which I don't have right now.
