THe other thing that could be done with a tech person who says you need to use a real computer is to immediately ask to speak to their supervisor or manager. Expalin nicely to them that the choice of the COMPUTER is up to the customer, and wouldn't they agree that insulting the individual is poor customer service? It's amazing how things can change in tone when you do that, and also maybe request the name and mailing (snail or e-) of the Company president so you can pass on your experience. :) Later..Howard -- G-Books is sponsored by http://lowendmac.com/ and... My point is that many support types are too dumb to support Mac users because nobody uses them. I still remember the headache I had when calling my ISP to setup the 190 on my dialup account. Yes, unfortunately we all have similar stories to share. Often, while traveling for work, I visit little ($99 complete Pentium systems!) computer places around AL, TN and MS, I will find Mac stuff at PC refurbishers, seperated and stored away from the PC stuff in the back of the store. In some of the smaller towns, even pre-pentium PC stuff would be displayed proudly, and G3-G4 Mac stuff is stored away just because the tech there does not know how to startup the thing, or the flashing question-mark disk spooks them. The PC guys will usually say I know nothing about Macs, just get it out of here! I think that, as experts in the PC world, it must frustrate them to no end that Macs are beyond their realm of comprehension. I was told also that I needed to update my browser..although my browser is Safari and I have the latest version. So far, every problem I've had with Safari on eBay has been eBay's fault. They've been decent about fixing 'em, even tho it took days. This is one of the reasons we need to be armed with multiple browers. Of course, keep in mind that if you spoof your browser's identities then you're actually doing us all a disservice. eBay's access statistics will then show that fewer people are using Macs and/or Safari -- which will give them less reason to fix the problem... in a discussion with one of their live help people today, I was told if you were using a regular computer, you would be fine when I was asking about the sign-in problems I was having. exporting bookmarks from Safari 1.3.1 (v312.31)?
Hello all, I'm switching over from a Lombard running Panther to a Pismo running Tiger. I'd like to export the bookmarks from Safari (1.3.1 (v312.31)) on the Lombard and import them onto the Pismo (Safari 2.0 (412)). I haven't found any export option in the menus, does such a thing exist? If there's no export function is there a preference file I can copy from one machine to the other? There are no bookmarks saved on the Pismo so replacing the bookmarks would work as well as importing them. To clarify, there are only two Macs in the school, and those are a PowerMac G5 and an iMac G5, both of which are running OS X Tiger. Unfortunately there's only the Prosoft client, which isn't free. Novell has always been a bastion of antipathy for Macs, charging outrageous fees for their clients and putting out horrible software. It was Novell being installed here that kept our Mac installed base to 5 or less for years, since that was the terms of the license, only 5 Mac clients were allowed. Stupid.
