the United States down like other great countries of their time.
Such as Rome and Babylon. And personally I can't wait for the day

for a regular phone in that context)

Now that I've finally got a fast connection out in the rural area
using Clearwire, I am able to utilize voip w/o having to wait a
few seconds for my transmission to reach by friends. The port
Skype uses is also not blocked with Clearwire DSL, whereas I
understand the one Vonage uses is (port 80).

For those who don't know, Skype is a VOIP (Voice Over Internet
Protocol) program that basically allows you to make phone calls
over the internet. With Skype, calls are free to those who also
have skype on their computer. If you call to a land line or cell
phone, there is an average local rate charge and you buy minutes up
front using Paypal even. You can check it out at www.skype.com.

I'm also curious how those with powerbooks are dealing with the
slight inadequacies of their lower quality microphone and speakers,
which does make for poor voice quality. I have an old Jabra that
clears things right up, but my speaker jack seems to have a
slightly loose contact, so need to find a better headset. It's
also a minor hassle having to plug and unplug both mic and speaker
all the time, nobody wants to wear any kind of headphone all the
time. So I'm just wondering if anybody has come up with a better
solution?

I have one last chance at installation, though, as I have a 900Mhz,

it? Does anyone know how to link them together by FireWire? Is
the combo drive started up in target mode? When do I hold down
the T key (I thought that it was the Y-key)? Is there a web page
to explain how to do it?

Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

I installed Tiger via my LaCie Porsche external firewire dvd drive.
Connect your external drive. Put the tiger dvd in. Let it load on
the desktop and then run the installer and it will reboot and start
from the dvd to install.

This is happening even on a full battery. When it is plugged
in, it will just go to sleep and wakes as soon as I open the lid.

I just had it happen again tonight - I was working on a Word
document (had it on battery power - 3/4 full) but had a phone call
so to preserve battery power, I closed the lid while on my call.
When I opened it to resume typing - Nothing, nada, zip. I could
not get it to wake up no matter what I tried (i.e. hitting space
bar, various keys, etc etc).

The only way I could get it to power on again was to plug it in and
then push the power key. However, even then, it took 5 tries
before it finally came on. Before that, I heard it come on but
then heard a click like the disk drive was trying to turn and then
nothing. I waited a couple of minutes and then tried again. Like
I said, after 5 tries with 2 minutes in between each, it finally
came on.

Any suggestions as to what may be going on ?

Amber

On top of the suggestions from John.

Take the battery off and put it back on making sure it is seated

Limewire isn't shady. It is just a P2P application for downloading

Since you must have a Motorola phone. :-) I often use iTunes to get a
thirty second clip out of any song I want to put on my phone.

1. Select the song you want. (One Click)
2. Get Info ( Use Apple-I)
3. Click on the Options tab.
4. Set the start and stop time.
5. Then Show Song File (Apple-R) And upload to your WAP server or
whatever you use to load the MP3 on the phone.

I honestly don't see a problem as long as you are running 10.3. And if

Flash works for me in Chimera

We all know how credible Spymac is... but still, this seems to make
sense. Of course, if Apple stops bundling IE with their computers and
copies of OS X, then MS will probably seriously consider dumping Office
support for Macs. That could hurt.

I also think that Chimera doesn't have Flash player on it... isn't
Flash only for Netscape and IE? If so, a lot of computer newbies will
get confused when certain websites that require Flash player stop
 working for them.

Still, I think Chimera is a great browser and really, everyone should
use it. It still has some problems which prevent me from using it (like
the really scrappy preferences), but it's nice and once it hits 1.0
(maybe by MWSF, especially with extra support from Apple if they are
actually going to use it) it should be really good. Even now it's
better than IE, and it's only version 0.5.
