Hi Nicol, I know voldemort is a human but I was saying that he could create a robot voldemort As a matter of fact he could create an army of robot voldemorts by animating statues similar to what happened in the battle at the MOM. S P O I L E R Actually, technically Voldemort isn't even entirely human anymore thanks to the mutilation of his soul. And he never actually became a Hogwats teacher. He tried to but was turned way, first by Armando Dippet and later by Dumbledore. So it's not known whether or not he was actually able to create a Horcrux using an object from all four of the Hogwarts founders. Re: [Audyssey] jim's trivia and hangman
Hi, another suggestion for those who play jim's games is buy a Scansoft voice or two from nextup.com . they sound real good. Josh - Original Message - From: nicol [EMAIL PROTECTED] To: Audyssey Blind gaming Gamers discussion list Gamers@audyssey.org Sent: Tuesday, May 08, 2007 3:33 PM Subject: [Audyssey] jim's trivia and hangman Hi Just wanted to say that I got 68 percent for the harry potter trivia by jim and marcy and 62 percent for the other harry potter trivia so my understanding of the books is reasonably good.I've got a suggestion for your hangman game jim. Sometimes I come across a word which I don't know the meaning of. Either I can't make out the way sapi pronounces the word or it's a word I never heard of. When the game gives the answer whether I won or got hanged, I want to look up the word, so then I load jaws and I open the word web program to look up the word, but that causes mayhem when the hangman game is open. When I launch jaws and word web with the control+alt system hot keys the game thinks I want to change the speed and so it says the whole time: to change the rate use the arrow keys and then press enter. My suggestion to you is: give an extra clue with each word. Currently with each word, the game tells me how many letters is in the word and if it's a place, , person or thing. It would be really nice if an extra clue can also be given, at least on the easyexperience level. I can't remember a word which I heard in the hangman game of which I didn't know the meaning, but if there can be an extra clue that describes the word, then it will also broaden my general knowledge. An example would be: Your word is a place and has 7 letters; it's a place where a king stays. Answer: palace. Or if you think it will make it too easy, at least give clues with less obvious words. ___ Gamers mailing list .. Nope, bonus points can only be applied to one character. You can select how many bonus points to spend on EXP, Adv Tokens or Gold by entering the amount of each item that you want. As long as you have enough bonus points to cover it you should be fine. Re: [Audyssey] sryth: how does the bonus points system work?
Hi, Here is how it works. 1. You click on the donate button, then select which character you want to get the bonus points. 2. When you get to paypal, you enter the number of $10 donations you want. 3. After you pay, the bonus points,400 pr donation are credited to your chosen character. 4. Follow the instructions to get them. 5. Once you get to the page where you an spend your points, enter the number of points you want to spend on each of the three areas. You can spend as much or little as you want in a given area. If you still have points left after buying what you want, you will be taken back to the page where you can spend more. This allows you to buy what you need, and then see what extra you have left. You do not need to spend all your points at once. It is often helpful to wait until you have a specific need before spending points or making a donation. Re: [Audyssey] New Article: The Role Of The Mouse In Audio Games
Hi Richard, Wow! Thanks for sending this one along. This indeed is a cool article, and made me think of mice in games much differently. The example about the sword got my attention. For a while i have been trying to think of ways to have cooler light saber effects in my SW FPS title. Just pressing a fire key isn't enough. I did right a test demo of the mouse and a saber which was awesome as I had awesome control of my swings, worlwind attacks, spins, etc. Problem was it made my dueling much much better than the enemy AI player. ___ Gamers mailing list .. [Audyssey] USA Games News 5/8/2007
USA Games News 5/8/2007 Introduction Greetings gamers, Before we get to the news I'd like to point out that allot is going on in my personal life. My wife and I are in the process of moving and there has been very little work done on any of the projects for the last week-and-a-half. Most of the reason is my wife and I have been busy packing, sorting, and hauling stuff away we no longer want or need. The other half is do to the fact my desktop computer, which I have had since 2002, has died. The most likely cause is bad copassitors on the motherboard. In either case I am going to have to use an older computer, or go out and buy a new desktop computer once I am settled financially. Fortunately, I do have my laptop which allows me to check my email, do some programming work, etc. However, laptops are not the most desirable system to sit behind all day and program, edit, and for extensive stuff. At least, that is how it has been for me. With all that is going on you may not think there is much news that is news worthy. This news letter aims to be more about future plans than progress, but there is some progress mixed in as well. So let's get started. Montezuma's Revenge We at USA Games are very glad to announce Montezuma's Revenge public beta 1 is almost ready for release. The core engine is very stable, and the first level is completed. Currently, I am attending to some very miner bugs in the game core, and will be starting on level 2 once i get settled in my new apartment. I know that the schedule has been pushed back many times, but I am certainly hoping for a July release of public beta 1. Right now the schedule depends really on how soon my wife and I get moved in to our apartment, can get unpacked, and can get settled in. Not to mention I hope to acquire another desktop computer between now and then to continue work there rather than on my laptop. Final Conflict 2 Shortly before losing the desktop I was doing some preliminary work on STFC 2.0. I certainly think STFC 2 will be much better than STFC 1.0. One of the changes I will be implementing is there will be more than one style of Borg ship. On the easiest levels you might have to fight a sphere or scout ship. On the advanced and expert levels you might have to fight a Borg cube. Another feature that will be introduced in to STFC 2 is ship specific menus. For example, a starship such as Enterprise would have a helm option in the main menu for controlling navigation. However, starbases do not have warp engines, impulse engines, etc so for them the helm controls will not be there. Perhaps most important about the new menus is autopilot and vessel menus will be dynamic. That means if a ship such as Enterprise is destroyed it will not appear in the vessel or autopilot menu. One feature that is still being debated is Sapi verses recorded speech. In one way Sapi would make the game easier to program maintain, optionally allow for multiple voices, interrupt speech, etc. However, I am also aware there are now some foreign interests in the game which want to translate STFC in to other languages. That is great, and can be done easy enough when recorded speech is used. It is not so easy if I use Sapi which my games are designed for the UK, US, and Australian voices. One major change I am looking at is redesigning the way battles are fought. In 2.0 you will no longer be able to fire off 300 torpedoes and blow the other guy away in one single move, nor can they blow you away in one move. Instead ship to ship engagements can take several turns, and it will help to gang up on enemy ships and destroy them. Finally, one major change is STFC 2.0 will also have some background music during game play. Of course, it can be optionally enabled and disabled, but the music I have chosen should set the mood for the battles. Star Wars As many of you may know USA Games has been working on and off on a Star Wars FPS title for some time. Unfortunately, I have changed my mind many times having changed story, characters, etc which resulted in some rather unusable code. However, I've recently started the project over from scratch, and this time I think it will stick. The basic story line of the game picks up weeks after Revenge of the Sith. The Jedi knights have been nearly wiped out, and those that are alive are on the run or in hiding. One of these Jedi is Olee Starstone seen in the book, Dark Lord: the Rise of Darth Vader,) and is the central character of our story and game. The game begins in the final chapters of, Dark Lord: the Rise of Darth Vader, with Olee Starstone and Chewbacca attempting to escape Kashyyykk. The object is to make it to the shuttle and make it back safe-and-sound to the Drunk Dancer, a smuggler ship commanded by Master Roan Shryine's biological mother. Unfortunately, there is an invasion going on so Imperial shuttles will be dropping off Imperial clone troopers, probe droids, etc and you will
Re: [Audyssey] how about a boss fight in the sarah game?
Hi Nicol, I can certainly understand your desire to fight voldemort, and I would be all for it if the main character was Harry Potter. However, I honestly don't think Sarah would be up to that task of fighting voldemort. Another thing to remember is voldemort's horcruxes are only known to a few insiders. most of the magical community knows nothing of them, and much less have any idea where to find them. As for the horcruxes by the time Sarah enters the castle Harry has already destroyed the diary with the Bassilisks tooth in book 2. I am assuming Dumbledor has disposed of the ring which was another horcrux. Anyway, the point I am driving at is not all of the horcruxes are in the castle, and some of them have already ben destroyed. harry and friends probably won't be coming back to school as they need to find the horcruxes in book 7. ___ Gamers mailing list .. Re: [Audyssey] USA Games News 5/8/2007
Hi Tom, Will the Monty public beta have the entre game or just the first level? I'm also going to be moving into a new place within the next week or so, and the lady I'll be living with (my fiance as a matter of fact), has a fascination with audio gaming. This is one of the games I told her about, so it'd be neat to introduce her to it. One of these
Re: [Audyssey] sryth: how does the bonus points system work?
Its kind of wierd actually. I've noticed that you spend however many points you want on experience and gold, but you enter the amount of tokens you want to buy when buying them instead of entering points. - Original Message - From: Karl [EMAIL PROTECTED] To: gamers@audyssey.org Sent: Tuesday, May 08, 2007 5:17 PM Subject: Re: [Audyssey] sryth: how does the bonus points system work? HTH, Karl Original message: HI Bryan and list, I would like to know how the bonus points system from your donations work. can I select how many of the 400 points goes towards adventure tokens, experience, or gold, or do I have to select one of the 3 areas? Do you choose from a combo box or edit field? Also, can you use the points for multiple characters or just a single player? I managed to get both my Weaponry and Slashing skills up to 70, but let me tell you, i took a heck of a lot of EXP, and some of it came from donating to Sryth. Re: [Audyssey] how about a boss fight in the sarah game?
Most witches and wizards don't even know what a horcrux is. -- One cross plus three nails equals forgiven. - Original Message - From: Thomas Ward [EMAIL PROTECTED] To: Gamers Discussion list gamers@audyssey.org Sent: Tuesday, May 08, 2007 4:41 PM Subject: Re: [Audyssey] how about a boss fight in the sarah game? Hi Nicol, I can certainly understand your desire to fight voldemort, and I would be all for it if the main character was Harry Potter. However, I honestly don't think Sarah would be up to that task of fighting voldemort. Another thing to remember is voldemort's horcruxes are only known to a few insiders. most of the magical community knows nothing of them, and much less have any idea where to find them. As for the horcruxes by the time Sarah enters the castle Harry has already destroyed the diary with the Bassilisks tooth in book 2.
