Re: [Audyssey] new title info from draconis entertainment?

2007-12-04 Thread Draconis Entertainment

The new title has been an ambicious undertaking, and I can tell you
for sure you won't have a demo by Christmas. It is something quite a
bit different from anything the gaming community has seen before, and
we are very excited about the project. It will be cross-platform, and
it has been under development for a very very long time. That's all
we can say for now.

Re: [Audyssey] Sarah locking up.

2007-12-04 Thread Thomas Ward
Hi Phil,
In regards to the head masters office I have experienced most of the
things you mentioned first hand. I seam to try and hit some keys while
the level is loading and the game does a instant crash and hang without
any way to seam to break from it.
The problem is that this is also related to my issue with Peves
attacking me. As soon as he can Peves practically assaults me at the
door as well as other ghosts and I seam to be frozen with no way to
stun, attack, or respond in any way.
By the time I get keyboard control if I have it all my stuff and magic
is gone, and i am absolutely helpless to do anything but walk around the
level with my magic.

Re: [Audyssey] Getting my stuff from Peves?

2007-12-04 Thread Thomas Ward
Hi Phil,
I think you misunderstood the nature of my question. I know how to stop
peeves under normal circumstances. However, in the head masters office
the keyboard seams to be frozen while peeves and other ghosts attacks
you leaving you defenseless. After you get keyboard control back there
doesn't seam to be anyway to regain the things you lost, and they don't
seam to be laying around the head masters office.
I even went back into the second floor and my things had just vanished
into nowhere. i don't understand what to do in a case like that.

[Audyssey] Changes In Monte Release Schedule.

2007-12-04 Thread Thomas Ward
Hello gamers,
Earlier this morning my wife and I had a personal disagreement over the
time I am spending on Montezuma's Return, and by the end of the argument
I had decided to alter the Montezuma's Return release schedule to free
up time for my wife and family during the holidays. So as a result I
will not be releasing Montezuma's Return on December 15 as previously
planned. However, I will be offering a new release schedule and plan for
1.0. See below.
In a couple of days i will be entering Montezuma's Return in the USA
Games pre-order and public Beta release program. If you order now during
the holidays you will be able to have full access to all the betas, get
to test and give feedback on the entire program, get your product key
before Christmas, and purchase a copy for friends and love ones for the
holidays. All pre-order and public beta testers will recieve a $0.00
upgrade to 1.0 upon it's release.
We will make a public announcement as soon as we are ready to begin
processing orders. Unfortunately, we are not quite ready to begin
processing orders, but we should have the store open in a couple of days.

Hi,
Great job. Wait until you beat Art on the Rail Racer Pro level. He is
darn tough to beat and even now i win perhaps 50 percent of the time on
that level. It usually depends on track and game controller.

Try going into patronous mode before going into the head master's office.
Let me rephrase:
1. when you are near the headmaster's door, hit e.
2. now use the uhm

space
use the fizzing wizbee password.
If you now go on the stairs your patronous should scare peeves away while

Hi Claudio,
This is discussed in the manual in section 11.4. The basic summary is in
standard mode you can save games, play with only one life, and you get
no score. In arcade mode you play for score, can have up to 6 lives, and
you can not save games.
Hope this helps.

[Audyssey] the baselisk in scw

2007-12-04 Thread nicol
HI all
I was very curious what it sounds like if the baselisk kills sarah, I
expected sarah to scream as the baselisk sink his fangs into her body.
Well, I was in for a surprise. I went to the chamber of secrets without
going to the head master's office to get the sword.
I was walking along the passage to the chamber, and I heard the baselisk.
Next thing I heard the caretaker capturing sarah. I don't understand what
is happening here.
In the books harry killed the baselisk the first time and used the fang to
destroy the horcrux.
Phil why did you decide for the caretaker to capture sarah if she is killed
by the baselisk?
This doesn't make sense to me at all.

Re: [Audyssey] Montezuma's Return Beta 7 released!

2007-12-04 Thread Karl
Hi,
I like the new changes. The new menu music is very fitting. However,
I'm not sure I like the step sounds in the menus. It's probably just an
initial reaction, but we'll see what others think.
A couple other thoughts:
1. You will probably want to add the guardian sounds to the learn sounds menu.
2. Just a minor suggestion for the manual (it has been there all along,
but I just never noticed it. You might want to move sections 7.8 and
7.9 to 7.5 and 7.6, and bump the monster sections accordingly. This is
simply for continuity, to keep all the traps and monsters together,
rather than splitting them up.
Is December 15 still the projected release date?

Re: [Audyssey] Montezuma's Return Beta 7 released!

2007-12-04 Thread Karl
Hi,
I've noticed something weird with vanishing platforms. I was playing an
arcade game on medium. I was standing on the ledge next to a vanishing
platform. It activated, and I jumped immediately, but before I could
even land, it had shut off. Later, I jumped on one and landed, but it
shut off before I could jump off it. Again, I had jumped onto it the
instant it started.
Is this a new bug?

[Audyssey] Monty beta 7 impressions

2007-12-04 Thread Bryan
Hi Thomas,
Just downloaded beta 7 of Monty. As far as I'm concerned you've outdone
yourself this time. I didn't think the music could get much cooler than it
already was, but this beta shows me how wrong I was. I particularly like the
menu theme and the invincibility music. I also don't necessarily like the step
sounds in the menus but I can live with it. I'll definitely be purchasing it
once the USA Games store is ready for business. I also liked the SFX for Angela
Summers. Whose voice is that, if I may ask? I particularly liked the death
scream for when our heroine misses the vanishing platform.
Time is an illusion, lunchtime doubly so.

Re: [Audyssey] Railracer

2007-12-04 Thread Thomas Ward
Hi Nicol,
Well, Rail Racer is tricky to play, but not in the same way that Homer
is tricky. What makes Rail Racer challenging is you increase lap speed
by doing a perfect lean during the turns, you need to practice your
timing when slowing down for a force field, find out how to not loose
allot of speed during a loop, etc. There is allot of things that are
challenging and you need to figure out through hours of trial and error
what skills are required to win the race. You then can use that knolege
to compete online against fellow Rail Racer players.

2007-12-04 Thread Phil Vlasak
Welcome to,
"Tom Ward's Return,"
a new and exciting fast action side-scroller from USA Games Interactive. In
this game developing adventure you must guide your character hero, Tom Ward,
through several eerie and mysterious underground crawl spaces searching for
his hidden computer and high speed Internet connection, sound effect CD's,
and other lost programs. You will have to avoid such deadly traps as burning
leaves in the back yard, sinks filled with dirty dishes, malfunctioning
electric blankets, vanishing TV remotes, and the dreaded vacuum cleaner.

You must fight or flee several
creatures including giant hairy black dogs, baby rattles, and deadly rolling
bowling balls. Along the way you will finish such games as Montezuma's
Return, Raceway,
and Star Wars, turning out Registration keys, while your wife thinks you are
out shopping for groceries.

[Audyssey] Montezuma's returm

2007-12-04 Thread Sarah Haake
Hello Thomas and everyone,

well, I just tried Beta 7 of Montezuma's Return.

The new music is really great, I especially like the new menu music.

And I also like the step sounds in the menus. *smile*

The new sounds of Angela are great too and I really like playing with a
female character.

I found two bugs while playing:

1. When I press p for potions or w for swords, sapi says for example 1 of 5,
not of 4. This is the case with potions and swords.
Besides, sapi says 2 swords when I grab the first one and then 3 swords and
so on.

2. When I play arcade mode and lost all my lives and then answer yes when
sapi asks if I want to play again, the game suddenly starts in standart
mode. I was a bit confused at first when I restarted the game and the game
suddenly was over after loosing only 1 live while I thought I played in
arcade mode. *grin*

Well, that's all for now.

I really like the game, especially with the new sounds and music and will
cirtainly buy it, perhaps as an christmas present for myself, who knows.
*grin*

Regards and greetings
Sarah

2007-12-04 Thread Thomas Ward
Hi Bryan,
One thing I discovered as a developer there is always a certain
percentage of the population that just jump into things with out ever
looking in the user manuals. As it happens it was this very issue that
Draconis mentioned a day or so ago. Usually, probably 99% of the time,
the answers to the common questions are in the users manuals
accompanying the product, but some people don't want to bother reading
the material to locate the information.

Re: [Audyssey] preordering monte

2007-12-04 Thread Thomas Ward
Hi Nicol,
In a couple of days from now customers who want to pre-order Montezuma's
Revenge will go to our store page, click on the buy now button, and will
be forwarded to Paypal.com for payment varification. You will enter your
name, credit card, etc and check out. After you finish with that my
custom php scripts will display a thank you page with a link to download
the latest beta of Monte if you need it.
Once we get your payment recete from Paypal.com we will email you a
product key for Montezuma's Return. Which is good for Beta 7 and later
versions.
When 1.0 is finished you just need to go to our web site, download 1.0,
uninstall, Beta X, and install 1.0.

2007-12-04 Thread Sarah Haake
Hi,

hmm, that's a bit confusing now.

In the manual it says that you can have up to 4 swords and 4 potions.

Besides, after grabbing this first sword it says 1 of 5 when I pres the w
key, so this can't be two swords I grabbed.

Regards and greetings

Re: [Audyssey] Montezuma's Return Beta 7 released!

2007-12-04 Thread Thomas Ward
Hi karl,
Well, as for the foot step sounds in the menus it was something that was
done in Tomb Raider Last Revelation and I sort of thought that was cool.
Though, I suppose I could look for something else if it is something
that people really don't like.
Yes, you are right that the Guardian effects need to be added to the
descriptions menu. Thanks for reminding me.
As for the manual layout in general the monsters and traps are in
alphebetical order. All except the Guardian who was added much later
after most of the manual was completed.
Finally, as for the release date I sent out a notice about this very
thing earlier to day. No I can't meet Dec. 15, do to some family
disagreements on that point. So I have elected to place the game on
pre-order through the holidays to process the product keys and work on
it when the holidays are over.

Hi Bryan,
I wouldn't say indefinitely. It will just take a bit longer to get 1.0

Hi Karl,
No that isn't a bug. Just your bad luck.
Seriously, to add challenge to the game those platforms are on a random
timer. You never know when those platforms will vanish and appear. I
noticed when they were on a fixed timer mmost people, including me,
could guess when it would appear/disappear, and they presented no
challenge. This way there is no way to predict when they will vanish on
you killing you instantly. Your best hope is to get across them as fast
as possible and hope they don't vanish while you are on them.

Re: [Audyssey] Montezuma's Return/a little question

2007-12-04 Thread Thomas Ward
Hi Jimmy,
That was a personal decision on my part. I wanted to give potential
buyers a nice look into the game, a teaser, but now that it is
approaching v1.0 I really do want people to buy it. To incurrage them
only allow one level in demo mode.
While one level is sort of like a mini game it isn't enough to compare
with all 11 levels that the 1.0 release will contain.

Re: [Audyssey] Montezuma's return

2007-12-04 Thread Thomas Ward
Hi Sarah,
Actually your first bug report isn't a bug but a feature of Beta 7. You
now can carry 5 swords and potions at a time. In addition, I
redistributed the swords throughout the game to start the game off easy
and steadily get more challenging the deeper you get into the game.
For example, on levels 1/2 you will find 5 swords. By level 5 you will
only find like 3 swords. By level 6 you will find only two swords. in
this way it gets more challenging, because you will have less and les
swords to find and use against the monsters.

There are few things that you should move around.
is it possible to move the first skull so its not on top of the torch or that
torch to another location.
Why is there another snake by the portal in level1 I relly don't think its
needed.

Could the first sword be moved to the right side of the electric field, I have
to jump on to the skull to get it and same goes for the first torch.
And standard mode is tough as nails.

Re: [Audyssey] Montezuma's Return Beta 7 released!

2007-12-04 Thread Thomas Ward
Hi Shaun,
No, I am not going to change anything on level 1. That level is complete
as far as I am concerned.
As far as standard mode I guess that is up to the user. I made it all
the way to level 4 on easy before I lost the game.

Re: [Audyssey] Montezuma's Return Beta 7 released!

2007-12-04 Thread Karl
I really don't think this would improve the game, it would make level 1
to easy. You are just not timing things right. It is often necessary to
hang back from an item until a monster moves away from it, jump over
the monster, then get the item.

I agree with you Thomas. Level 1 is just fine.
Time is an illusion, lunchtime doubly so.

[Audyssey] Sryth Runeskin adventure

2007-12-04 Thread Ron Schamerhorn
Hi all

Just wondering if anyone can recall. I'm presently going through I
believe it's the demons lair and is there a spacific order the 4 demons
should be battled in? It's getting late so I'm probably missing any subtle
things in the game right now.

Re: [Audyssey] Sryth Runeskin adventure

2007-12-04 Thread Ron Schamerhorn
Hello again

Okay after a bit of trial and error I've figured out what to do with the
runeskin adventure. And for anyone reading this see below with fighting
Runeskin

 Round 1

You Roll 17

Attack:
List of 3 items
. The Demonscourge (+40 MR) vs. this enemy.
. The Demonscourge, momentarily imbued with the power of the black gems that
melded with its head, suddenly glows bright white and an arc of black-tined
lightning surges forward, squarely striking your immortal foe!
Runeskin takes 928 damage!
. You swing your hammer at your enemy
@ Enemy loses 19
list end
List of 1 items
. You've SLAIN your foe!
Who would have believed it! Saying I was staring into the eyes of death.
