Re: [Audyssey] psp gaming
Heya Chou. This is cool looks like there are a few of us on here. Thanks lots for responding and for the list of good titles. Just so I am absolutely clear there is no actual eject button to take the umd's out, you just get your finger in that little notch and flip the lid up right? Thanks again. Howdy Jose thanks for the good wishes. Yeah I am pretty pumped up about this it is the first brand spanking new system I have bought since I bought my Atari 2600 when I was in high school around 1981 or so. I am going to go buy Tekken tomorrow after work, good news I found out I have an EB games right down the street from me. Or on second thought it might be bad news I don't know, lol. Anyhow if you have some tips for us on using the psp in general I'd be more than glad to know them. One question I have which seems rather stupid but I think may be important is how do you properly take a umd out of the system when you have been playing it, from the docs I have found online it sounds as if you probably just hit the home button to go to the home menu and that should stop the game and therefore the disk spinning but is there more to it than that? If we get too much into this I suppose we should take it off list, I am sure not everyone is interested in the nitty gritty of how to use the psp game playing tips and thoughts and experiences and so on. While I am at it, have you found any other games besides tekken that we can play pretty well, several have been mentioned which I find very encouraging but unfortunately I did not write them down as I had not temporarily gone nuts and decided to run out and buy one yet. Bro, are you kidding? Most people on audiogames dot net who know me, know that I lothe (or have lothed) muds. As of, let me see. Half hour ago.. That's changed. Wish I could've played more of this but I gotta go in for jerby testing tomorrow so can't. Oh well, still fun as heck! As someone who knows not about development, I will not be using the scripting, and I think I'll be ok with the freebee version of this piece of wonder. Well for my use, the only thing is the 120 minute limit and the no debugger. I am not into muds, but I decided to try it. The scripting tools alone are worth it...easy builders, examples, all kinds of cool stuff. I briefly touched on the regular mudding features and they were pretty cool...I like the use of Sapi. Re: [Audyssey] Sites of the gaming dead.
Hi Dark, Thanks for the list, I do not have the time to check each of the links out and sometimes if a site is vanished I add the archive.org link so people would know what used to exist. I should move the vanished sites to a page of their own so as not to clutter the other active list. [Audyssey] Sites of the gaming dead.
Hi Everyone, and especially Hi to phil. as people who've been hanging about the audiogames.net forum might know, the richard and Sander, the site admins have for some odd reason decided to take on a chap called Cx2 and myself as site admins. so, our first major task is to update and maintain the games list on audiogames.net, which means writing pages and providing corret link info (as well as additional resources), for every single audio game. yes, this is a bit like the twelve labours of hercules! but we certainly intend to get the thing up to date, even if it takes a while. Anyway, something I've been using a lot is Phil's fantastic games list, thanks again Phil it's a great resource. I've gone through Phil's list and compiled a list of all the websites that are either 4004 errors, no sign of developement for a considderable time, or have their games hosted on different pages, or (and this is where some help would be appreciated), I get something confusing, ie, a files index page but no site. so first, does anyone know about any of these sites? And second, I was wondering if this list might be of help to Phil. As I said, the fantastic games list is great, and is going to help me a lot. the audiogames.net archive (once updated), will hopefully be useful for getting detailed information and resources (eg game forums, mailing lists etc), about the various games, and searching by catagories like genre or license type, if you want to know about freeware sport games for example. but it won't provide the quick and easy websites reference that phil's list does, or the ability to just sit back, and skim through a long page with quick summaries of the games, and picking out something interesting. anyway, here's the list of problem sites: Bad sites list. Ratings: vanished: site is a 4004, status of games or projects is not known. Elsewhere: Games are hosted elsewhere, probably x-site or usa games. Dnd: developement but no download. Long time in developement status, but no betas or even trailers available. Unknown: something confusing, more info required. marval soft: Vanished. fantasy storm net: elsewhere. Code factory vanished! The blind eye: Vanished. Bascentral: vanished. Beautiful ears: Vanished. Cris Lewis's university project: Vanished. Audio adventure engine: dnd. Rwf talking software: Vanished! That's one problem with speech output versus braille. With braille, you immediately know the distinction. With speech, you might have to look for it, providing you think to do so. Games wed like to play. In this fast action shooter you're thomas Ward, a great and intelligent developer from usagames. Thomas is a moderator of a list called "audysseylist" together with his friends. But for awhile ago, a girl called Nicol has registered to his mailinglist. This girl sends hundreds of emails to the audysseylist with the text "could a developer make this, is it possible to make that..." you as moderator of the list has the job to stop these terrible emails from that girl. the jaws implimentation doesn't take 30 seconds, its more like 10. I don't mud much hardly but mushclient for what it is is good. Re: [Audyssey] Future Of Creating Accessible Games
Hi Willem, Yeah, it took me about six months of solid testing and research to come up with those findings. The main reason I got started was when Microsoft announced in Auggust 2007 that they were going to drop support for Managed DirectX. That obviously was going to be a major problem for me personally since I had a handfull of USA Games products under development using the very technologies they were about to drop. Of course they introduced XNA Studio, but a quick look into that showed not only was it unaccessible from a programming standpoint but it was specifically geared for the XBox 360. So that pretty much ruled .Net stuff out as a viable gaming platform for USA Games products. Then, I tried Java, Python, etc and concluded they just didn't have what it takes to produce anything really high quality. Yeah, as a language I like Java, but as a gaming platform it has a long ways to go before it will compete with commercial game quality stuff. I finally, reluctantly, returned to C++ and found everything I was looking for. Support for Sapi 5, solid reliable support for DirectX, support for game controllers, fast game exicution, the works. It was all and all well suited for my Genesis 3D engine which I want to produce and maintain as long as possible without having to do major rewrites everytime Microsoft gets a new idea up their butt. I found most of these new fangled changes are localized to .Net stuff while the core C++ stuff remains good for many years. Eventually C++ developers will have to switch from DirectSound to XAudio2, but it is not a change that will be all that critical until the industry standard is DirectX 10 which is only supported on Vista and above. Since XP is still Microsoft's most widely used OS DirectX 9.0C will remain industry standard for a few years to come. Willem wrote: > Wow Tom that is an excelent article! Games we'd like to play IN this side scroller your only game device is your mouse. You have to use a mouse with a little wheel between the left and right buttons. You press the wheel forwards and backwards to cause your character to walk/run. The left mouse button is used to fire your gun if you can locate it and the right mouse button is used to jump. You'll have to jump on an object to pick it up. You'll encounter enemies in the game you'll have to shoot. Along the way you'll encounter items such as a gun, ammo, strength pills and bonus points you'll have to jump unto to collect them, but you'll have to be quick as they will vanish after a while. Pressing the wheel on your mouse forward once will cause your character to give one step forward, the same goes for backwards, so its completely in your power to run as fast as you want. --- Gamers mailing list __ Gamers@audyssey.org If you want to leave the list, send E-mail to [EMAIL PROTECTED] You can make changes or update your subscription via the web, at http://audyssey.org/mailman/listinfo/gamers_audyssey.org. Hi list. i've been thinking i would like to dip a toe into the various types of games and consoles out there, Would someone be able to advise me what the best console might be to go for? in terms of numbers of games? I don't want to get a console for example if there are only 3 or 4 games accessible for it. I don't like sports games, so i'm guessing that limits my options a bit. I did listen to some mp3s a while back of people playing games on consoles, but they didn't make a lot of sense to me as there was no commentarie about the games that would help me make a decision of yes i like this game and it seems really accessible. obviously i no we have to memorize the menus or write down keystrokes to get around them, but it would be really good to have a comprehensive podcast about different consoles and there types of games and just how playable some of them are. i mean for example games that can be completed fully without sight etc. --- Gamers mailing list __ Gamers@audyssey.org If you want to leave the list, send E-mail to [EMAIL PROTECTED] You can make changes or update your subscription via the web, at http://audyssey.org/mailman/listinfo/gamers_audyssey.org.
