Hi Thomas,

I guess that I do not have a good answer for you other than, that is how it is
on the original board game of Life. A long time ago Chuck and Diana read me
the text of each of the squares on the board so that I could create an
accessible game of Life. I then gave them the game for their kids. But I
really can not say why the property tax costs more than the house did
originally.

Hi Josh,

The problem with the new version of the game of Life is bothering me. I was

Hi all,

I was just playing a quick game of Jim Kitchen's life when I noticed
something a bit strange about the game. I noticed you can buy a house
for $400,000, but you have to pay $500,000 for property taxes. Besides
being absolutely unrealistic I was wondering why the property taxes
costs more than the house?

Cheers!

Re: [Audyssey] Please vote for your favourite games

2013-06-12 Thread Paul Lemm
Hi,

I agree with so many audio/accessible titles it just gives people an idea of
what games are some of the most popular. I think back to when I used to
play main stream games and almost all gamming magazines or games sites
would have some sort of rating system to give the user an idea of how good
or playable a certain game is. I use the audio games site to find games and
it's a great resource and site but have felt its missed that element of what
other users are playing the most and what the top titles are, and this
site does just that. . I'll be really interested to see how the table
looks after more people vote, will the results look similar or will the top
ten of totally changed, we shall wait and see.

Yep, I agree I think if its accessible and someone wants you to add it and
they are prepared to add their vote to it than it's worth adding to the
list.

Also just on a side note, I love tactical battle by the way, it's a great
game, thanks for all the time you've put into making/developing the game.

Thanks Paul. I'd thought about it ages ago when I was first getting into
audio games but wasn't interested in doing the work for it myself.

I'm glad I finally did and that you like the idea.

As the original audiogames.net list was missing a few games and had a few
non-games included I think I'll need to spend some time updating the list.

I know audiogames.net will sometimes exclude some games such as interactive
fiction as they don't want the game list to be full of interactive fiction
when there are already sites devoted to that.
I think for this list the requirements are just that it is accessible and
that the person asking to add it would actually vote for it.

[Audyssey] BGT and the See Munkey

2013-06-12 Thread Paul Lemm
Hi everyone,

I've just recently started learning to use BGT, I wondered if anyone knows
whether Jeremy's See Munkey would work on a game written using BGT?

It's a purely hypothetical question since I'm very much in the early stages
of just learning how to use BGT and not even close to being able to write
programs that would support it or even to understand the required coding
that would be needed in order to use the see monkey with BGT, but just
really wanting to know that when I am ready for such things whether it is
possible or not

[Audyssey] Crossword Puzzles

2013-06-12 Thread Eleanor Robinson
Hi Chris - no, we don't have demos. Our games are relatively
inexpensive and simple. We had them but when there was a major upgrade
to the OS, we had problems and discontinued them. The playing mechanism
is simple. Our games self-voice using SAPI. You get a quote. As you
arrow through the words, you will hear the number of letters in the
word, the starting letter and a hint. If it is a small word, you will
hear the scrambled letters. You simply type in the correct word. The
space bar repeats the current information so it is hard to get lost.
When you have solved the quote, you submit it to see if you are correct.

Truthfully I have never ever had my game of Life give me any error. And
I
do not see anything wrong in the code. But I did make a couple of
changes

to the code and have send the beta to a couple of people. If some how it
works better for them, I will put up a new version. Hard to fix
something

when it works perfectly here.

Re: [Audyssey] Please vote for your favourite games

2013-06-12 Thread Ian Reed

Thanks Eleanor,

I have added:
Inspector Cyndi in Newport - Death Nell,
Kim's Game,
Crossed Quotes

As well as these non 7-128 games:
Bokurano Daibouken,
Bokurano Daibouken 2,
Esp Pinball Classic,

I appreciate people letting me know about missing accessible games.
In future, if people can provide a link to a web page for each game that
would be helpful.

Thanks!

Re: [Audyssey] Please vote for your favourite games

2013-06-12 Thread Ian Reed

Hi Paul,

Thanks for the kind words about Tactical Battle.
That game has gotten a lot better with players being able to make their
own map packs.
I recommend playing the dev version for anyone who wants to try it as it
has an in game map pack download feature now.

You can get it here:
https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/43120001/Tactical%20Battle%201.13%20dev%2015.zip

I need to make a full release of it soon but I've gotten deep into some
new game projects.
And if you've been playing version 1.09 that is pretty old now. That is
the version the audiogames.net review links to but the latest stable
version is 1.12 and as I said I recommend the dev version which is near
a stable release now anyway.

I'm excited to see how things change as we get more votes and it's good
to get these games added that were missing from the original
audiogames.net game list.

I've made some friendlier back end pages now so it's easier for me to
update and manage the list.

I also intend on adding a tags column and a links column for linking to
audio reviews.

Re: [Audyssey] BGT and the See Munkey

2013-06-12 Thread Philip Bennefall

Hi Paul,

Glad to hear you're starting with BGT! As for the See Munkey, it works
really well. I made a little dll that BGT can call to facilitate
asynchronous serial port communication, which I will begin distributing in
the near future. It is very easy to use the See Munkey with BGT as I have
written a wrapper class on top of the dll, so you do not need to worry about
making any dll calls manually.

Kind regards,

Philip Bennefall

Subject: [Audyssey] BGT and the See Munkey

Hi everyone,

I've just recently started learning to use BGT, I wondered if anyone knows
whether Jeremy's See Munkey would work on a game written using BGT?

It's a purely hypothetical question since I'm very much in the early stages
of just learning how to use BGT and not even close to being able to write
programs that would support it or even to understand the required coding
that would be needed in order to use the see monkey with BGT, but just
really wanting to know that when I am ready for such things whether it is
possible or not

tom I'd aggree with you, but both my win xp and 7 boxes were crashing.
now both are 32 bit I don't have a x64 os to test the games on but if

Hi Jim,

I've gotten an error a couple of times as well, but I can't really say
as to why it is crashing. The reason may be something to do with
Windows 7 verses XP. You are running XP while I am running Win 7 so
that might make a difference.

Cheers!

[Audyssey] nfl football and baseball

2013-06-12 Thread Josh Kennedy

hi jim,

when you update your baseball game can you add comments similar to those
in your football game that can be turned on and off? also in the
football and baseball games with the comments if comments are turned on
and if the game sees files like footcomment1.wav and so on or
basecomment1.wav and so on if it sees such files instead of making sapi5
speak the comments the game will play the .wav files? also can you make
it so if I want to change the drums with whistle sound I could replace
it with something else? It would be fun if comments and some sounds were
a bit more customizeable with football and baseball.

thanks

Josh

Hi Shaun,

It was just a shot in the dark, a guess, as I have no idea as to what
really is causing Life to crash. Running it on a x86 or x64 system
doesn't seem to make a difference.
