Re: [Audyssey] Star Trader Questions
Hi christina. when you select a destination it's set as your nav point, you actually need to hit the start button on the main screen to begin travel. Also note that once a destination is selected at the top of the screen where it shows your coordinates and your amount of water-fuel, it'll say how far the destination is. This is very useful to keep track of sinse you don't want to start for somewhere halfway across the galaxy and end up running out of suplies mid way. Regarding where to get crew and supplies, well you can recruit crew at the spice hall of each planet, and pick up supplies at the urban zone. Bre in mind however that water-fuel is needed to travel, and while carrying extra units of weapons or electronics in your cargo hold can help you in spy missions and in combat, they can also increase the likelihood of encounters with hostile ships. I'd actually recommend getting standing with a faction as soon as possible so that you can start selling prohibited goods like weapons sinse being stuck with a massive cargo of illegal stuff and no where to sell is a bad position to be in. Also be very careful with the fiferent factions. This isn't smugglers where you always work for one faction or yourself, and having three or four factions all considdering you a wanted criminal is a very bad position to be in. The manual to star traders is rather detailed, but it does actually help quite a lot. Re: [Audyssey] Star Trader Questions
Hi Christina. Well the nav menue will always show you planets in order of closest first, and that is really the only way to go to a planet. You can also use the links in your status screen to the rumours section to set navigation points to go to areas of space you get rumours in as well. Star traders is a little different from smugglers or core exiles, you don't get the planets and systems all layed out neetly to look between, you just have to set a nav point and go, but it's possible to get used to. Re: [Audyssey] Temporal disturbances shades of doom.
There was a rather large discussion on the subject a little while ago. It boils down to trap the disturbence in a room that you won't need anymore. Raul's walkthrough demonstrates this quite eloquently. - Original Message - From: lindsay.cow...@virginmedia.com lindsay.cow...@virginmedia.com To: gamers@audyssey.org gamers@audyssey.org Date sent: Fri, 25 Apr 2014 10:21:01 + Subject: [Audyssey] Temporal disturbances shades of doom. Re: [Audyssey] Temporal disturbances shades of doom.
Hi Lindsay, As has recently been stated on the list the only way to really deal with a temporal disturbance is to get it to chase you into a room, leave the room, and close the door behind you effectively trapping it inside. That is really the only effective way to get around one of those. Cheers! On 4/25/14, lindsay.cow...@virginmedia.com lindsay.cow...@virginmedia.com wrote: How do I get past temporal disturbances? Hi Christina. Star traders has slightly different navigation to smugglers or core exiles. once you double tap a planet in the navigator, or one of those nav links in the cargo or rumours screens you have a waypoint set. think of this like setting your course in a sailing ship. If you use the zoom button there is a button called start which will actually start you travelling to where you go, also as I said don't orget to check the distance for the journey at the top of that zoom screen before hitting start. hth. [Audyssey] Shades of doom.

Could this make shades of doom nearly impossible to play? If not, any tips? Re: [Audyssey] Shades of doom.
Hi Lindsay. Well in shades of doom you can always check your direction facing with I believe the f key though I could be wrong as it's been quite some time sinse I played the game. Either way what I always did myself was learn directions relative to the way I faced. So for example if I was going north I'd know east was to my right and west to my left, while if I was going west north was to my right and south to my left. This let check which way passages were going, like for example in level one where thelong passage goes to the west then I believe turns north, then goes back east, meaning I know I'm now going opposite to where I was before. You can always check this yourself by using the control and arrow keys to snap turn right and left and then test out what direction your facing. Fortunately in shades of doom unless your picking up objects or fighting monsters all the doors and passages are at streight right angles so you can always use snap turns as main navigation. Also, coordinates are your friend. If you are on 1-1 and go east you will be on 2-1. This is a great way of checking your exact location and knowing if you've been somewhere before. You can also work this out relative to what direction your travelling as well. indeed some games like galaxy ranger not to mention some browser games use coordinates as their main navigation feature all the time. My own spacial sense is very lousy, I find it difficult to extrapolate maps from small peaces of information, bu by using coordinates and directions it's more than possible to create routes, know if you've been somewhere before, enter a room and exit it etc, it just takes practice and training your memory. If shades of doom is giving you trouble, try something with a less complex layout but still in first person such as gma tank commander or packman talks. Indeed perhaps if Shades version 2 has some sort of map editer, someone could create some practice tutorial style maps so that people can get to grips with directions. Funnily enough practicing this sort of thing in a computer game will help with your mobility, indeed I've recently got the blind square ap for my iphone which gives very similar information in the real world to the navigator in shades of doom, eg, what direction your going, what your passing etc. I'd also advise mobility wise just keep practicing and learning, start off with say a streight route with one bend on it say to get to the nearest shop and go from there, also bare in mind not all mobility instructors are partciularly good at playing to people's particular strengths (I once knew a lady who thought I was the spawn of satan because I reffused to step count and didn't acknolidge my landmarks method at all). Re: [Audyssey] Shades of doom.
Hi Dark, I am trying to get 2 points for the cheat codes, but can't seem to find anything to kill, shall I start again? And I am missing some messages, which I need apparently, and can't find. Lindsay Cowell -original message- Subject: Re: [Audyssey] Shades of doom. From: dark d...@xgam.org Date: 25/04/2014 11:47 pm Hi Lindsay. Re: [Audyssey] Shades of doom.
Hi Lindsay, That may be the case. I know I have a fairly good sense of direction, spatial orientation, etc so playing Shades of Doom is relatively straight forward for me. On the other hand you indicated problems with a sense of direction in real live travel so that will certainly effect your playing Shades of Doom, and you do seem to have an inordinate amount of problems with the game. I won't go as far to say it is impossible but you may have more difficulty than someone like myself. If you are good at map reading Shades of Doom has a feature where you can output the current level to a braille map. If you have a braille printer you could try brailing a map of the current level and use that to give you an idea of what the level looks like which may improve your understanding of the level's layout. If you do not have a braille printer but have a set of Legos you can construct one as you play the level. For instance, on level one you begin in a east/west corridor at the top of the map. There is a short north/south corridor that connects to a second east/west corridor right below the first one. There is a second north/south corridor that connects to a third east/west corridor, and so on. Its actually pretty simple if you feel how the level is laid out. All you do is go back and forth from west, to south, to east, to south, to west, to south, to east, and so on. In short, the only suggestion I can give you is try and create a map. Maybe e, just maybe, that will help you mentally grasp the layout of the game's levels enough to actually be able to navigate them. I don't know if this would help but maybe a developer like myself could create a game like Maze Craze which might help you practice navigating mazes or something. Cheers! Re: [Audyssey] Shades of doom.
Hi Lindsay, If you want to get 20,000 points there are only two ways to do that. First, if you play on the easy difficulty level, can I play daddy, you have to take the teleporter back to level 1 and play all 8 areas over again in order to get enough points for the cheat codes. Second, instead of playing on the easy difficulty level playing on a higher difficulty level like don't hurt me will generate enough points for the cheat codes. Cheers!
