Re: [Audyssey] xbox accessibility?

Also, I think that if the touch screen is to be made the default input device,
I think screen readers have got to step up their imagining of how a blind
person would input text into the touch screen. Sure, braille input is nice, but
let's face a little bitty fact, braille is slower than typing. A lot slower.

Sonniss has released for a limited time, for free, a ten gig audio sound
effect bundle NOT TO BE MISSED by audio drama producers and creators. As this
article from bedroomproducersblog explains:

Sonniss has released GameAudioGDC Bundle, a completely free to download
sound collection featuring over 10 GB of high quality royalty free sounds for
video game development and other creative work.

The library was released on March 7th and it will remain a free download
until April 2nd. Sonniss states that they’re giving away this sound collection
in order to give back to the video game developers community, despite of not
being able to join the GDC2015 conference this year. They are also running a
huge game audio sale on their website at the moment, aka GameAudio Special.
So get on board Sonicateers! Grab your bundle while you still can. They
recommend the torrent for it!

Hi,

Just done a google search and found the below link to the site, but as someone
else mentioned it appears to only allow a certain amount of downloads per hour
and says its at its limit so I haven't managed to download the file yet . but
the link I found to their website is below

http://www.sonniss.com/sound-effects/free-download-game-audio/

There's no mention of the torrent link on the above site, but I found the
torrent link on a blog site from a totally separate website. I haven't managed
to actually download the torrent and since I got the link from another website
can't guarantee its validity so as with any torrent download at your own risk
. Although the torrent doesn't appear to be downloading in my torrent client
so not to sure what's up with that maybe just no seeders at present but I'm
surprised at that. link below though for anyone who wants it

"Shredder" is probably one of the best apps I have found for the iPhone.
One unique feature is that it will adjust it's strength to yours. If you
lose, the next game is easier to win. If you win, it'll get harder. Skill
levels range from 850 to 2,600 ELO. Unfortunately, I've run into a slump
and have fallen from 1,300 down to 1,250, a casual player. I'll just have
to play more carefully.

That is true charlse, however I wouln't say myself you need to "learn the on
screen keyboard"

If you can type, or just swipe through letters you can use the thing, the
problem is that it is just time consuming to use. It's okay if you only have
to type your ap store password or put your name into a game or write a web
address, but when your used to typing at roughly the same speed you would
speak, it's just way too time consuming to bother with anything long.

Indeed a friend of mine just phoned me, but because due to said bloody awful
throat infection I still sound rather like a cross between a chain smoking
frog and shredder from the Ninja turtles I didn't answer the phone, but
instead e-mailed her on my laptop, sinse there was no way I would write
either a text message or an e-mail to her explaining the circumstances just
with the on screen keyboard.

This is why if I have to write anything more than about five words I just go
with Siri if I can, assuming I don't have my bluetooth keyboard handy
of course.

all the best,

Re: [Audyssey] Fw: A Sound Collection Not to be Missed

2015-03-28 Thread Paul Lemm

There is apparently both a torent and an http download.
I'm currently in the process of trying to figure out how to get free download
manager's torent plugin to work, because apparently they only allow
100 downloads via http every four hours.

Hi Dark,

Yes, Android has its own voice dictation. Pretty much all the major
operating systems now have voice dictation in some form or another. I
fully see that becoming the way of the future for most mobile devices
since Android, iOS, and Windows devices have it, and I'm pretty sure
the technology can and will improve over time.

As far as your point about consoles I'm in full agreement. I just
don't ever see that happening no matter how many blind users may like
to believe otherwise. It isn't economical for companies to add the
proper accessibility, and like it or not money is usually ultimately
the deciding factor when it comes to accessibility. The people who
will endeavor to create accessible games won't be the big mainstream
companies but indie developers and hobbyists.

definitely help our cause to get full access to PS4 GUI. here's the link.

I'm considering giving Shadow Line Full Voice a try on my Windows XP machine

so, where can I get a copy?

Thanks.

Sonniss has released for a limited time, for free, a ten gig audio sound
effect bundle NOT TO BE MISSED by audio drama producers and creators. As
this article from bedroomproducersblog explains:

Sonniss has released GameAudioGDC Bundle, a completely free to download
sound collection featuring over 10 GB of high quality royalty free sounds
for video game development and other creative work.

The library was released on March 7th and it will remain a free
download
until April 2nd. Sonniss states that they’re giving away this sound
collection in order to give back to the video game developers community,
despite of not being able to join the GDC2015 conference this year. They
are
also running a huge game audio sale on their website at the moment, aka
GameAudio Special.
So get on board Sonicateers! Grab your bundle while you still can. They
recommend the torrent for it!

[Audyssey] about the baribari futsal

2015-03-28 Thread fabi gonzalez
Hello community. I have some doubts about this game, you think should
be bought? For $ 39 I think is expensive, someone has made a gameplay
might happen, which is playing the full version? Not saying it's bad,
but the demo is not much sign, and I want to be sure before buying.
What I liked most is that you have online mode, but not sure if many
people bought the game. Greetings and sorry for my English.

Sonniss has released for a limited time, for free, a ten gig audio sound

this article from bedroomproducersblog explains:

Sonniss has released GameAudioGDC Bundle, a completely free to download

for video game development and other creative work.

The library was released on March 7th and it will remain a free download
until April 2nd. Sonniss states that they’re giving away this sound
collection in order to give back to the video game developers community,
despite of not being able to join the GDC2015 conference this year. They

[Audyssey] shredder - Re: xbox accessibility?

2015-03-28 Thread Charles Rivard
A chess app for the iPhone was turned into such a thing? What a waste!!

I would never rely on SIRI. If you do, and you get into a situation in
which noise is either unwanted or is an interference, you must rely on
something else, probably some kind of keyboard. And I would rather use the
onscreen keyboard than lug another piece of equipment around. The onscreen
keyboard is a method that all smart phone users should learn, in my
opinion.

Hi Tom.

You might be correct on keyboards, however also bare in mind that at
least on Ios, you can use Siri to dictate (I think there is a similar
function on Android but I'm not sure).

I tend to dictate myself sinse it is much faster and easier than using
the on screen keyboard, even though Voiceover does handle the on screen
keyboard quite well.

Sinse Siri at least has also got to the point where you can for example
open aps, write and read messages, and check e-mails all by voice
commands I can see that sort of interface becoming more common in the
future, which will be a help for visually impared people, even if there
are times when you don't want to speak to your computer, like when your
in a meeting or (like now), when I have a severe throat infection.

Bad news of course for people who are deaf and blind, but as you said,
disabled consumers never get thought of anyway.

I personally don't see console access as being a thing that will ever
happen sinse even if there was say voice control, most information will
continue to be graphical simply because most people use their eyeballs
for most things, and it will always take a degree of wangling to
represent even the barely necessary graphical information to a visually
impared person, let alone the huge graphical 3D monstrosities most game
companies aim for.

As I've said before, I see independent developers who create audio games
as much for the same people who still enjoy audio dramas as for visually
impared people as the major future of where games are going, and what
with things like Somethinelse that seems to be happening more and more.

All the best,

Dark.

Hi Shaun,

That may be so, but we all know mainstream consumer products isn't
concerned with accessibility for blind consumers. That keyboard which
may in deed be the best access for a blind consumer is quickly and
rapidly vanishing from the consumer space and is now a optional device
rather than a mandatory one. Now days touchscreens are the primary
input device for smartphones, laptops, tablets, and several other
devices.
So don't get to attached to your keyboard because I don't see it
lasting for that much longer outside of an office environment.

Re: [Audyssey] Palidin of the sky

2015-03-28 Thread dark

Hi.

It's rather difficult to say how "hard" paladin of the sky is sinse how
difficult you find bits of the game will depend upon you, for example the
game does have some quite huge areas to explore and not much to help you get
around but isn't too bad if you explore systematically. Also, some of the
dragonstrike scrolls needed in combat require rather precise timing but you
can get used to them with practice.

I suggest going to http://www.vgstorm.com/paladin_of_the_sky.php downloading
the demo of the game and giving it a try, sinse the demo won't cost yu
anything and will give you a good idea what the game is like.

Really unless you stick to arcade titles like Jim Kitchin's games or
beatstar, you probably aren't going to find something with a consistant
difficulty, but there is never any harm in trying.

All the best,

Re: [Audyssey] xbox accessibility?

This is why if I have to write anything more than about five words I just go
with Siri if I can, assuming I don't have my bluetooth keyboard handy
of course.

Re: [Audyssey] recommend new games for beginners

2015-03-28 Thread dark

Hi Dorothy.

Firstly hellow and welcome.

A good place to look for games in general is audiogames.net
www.audiogames.net which has a large database of over 500 accessible games
with descriptions.

The pcs games to play online list is also worth a look.

As for games to try, well sinse you mention muds, Alteraeon is probably
where to start as that is both the most blind/vi friendly mud, and has it's
own soundpack that virtually turns it into an audiogame (just bare in mind
most other muds don't have that level of sounds), it has some very easy
lower level areas, lots to do and a friendly community,

Find out more on the alteraeon website over at
http://www.dentinmud.org/alter/

For first time audiogames, well it depends upon what your interested in and
what platforms you have access too sinse there is a lot of good stuff on Ios
as well as Pc and some stuff for Android too.

Jim Kitchin over at http://www.kitchensinc.net/ has a huge collection of
free games, which go from sports simulations to trivia and computerized
versions of traditional games like monopoly and game of life, arcade style
games and even some x rated adult games if that is your thing.
www.gmagames.com is probably a good place to start, particularly sinse they
have some of the most landmark titles like the extremely good shades of doom
and Gma tank Commander, if your looking for something simpler and more
arcade style well the recently released beatstar, a huge varient on boppit
is worth a look go to http://oriolgomez.com/en_index.php

There is a lot of other stuff, from complex rpg games (sadly not too many),
to simple arcade blaster games, racing games, stratogy games, mmorpgs you
can play in your web browser and as I said lots of interesting stuff for Ios
and some stuff for Android, so I'd just recommend checking out anything that
looks vaguely interesting and asking any questions you need.

Welcome to the list, and I hope you have fun.

all the best,

Dark.

Re: [Audyssey] xbox accessibility?

2015-03-28 Thread Thomas Ward

Hello Dorothy,

Welcome to the list. As far as which game you are talking about you
didn't specify in your message which game you are talking about. It is
impossible to answer your question when you don't tell anyone what
game or games your asking about in the message itself.

As for muds probably the easiest one for a blind gamer to get started
with is called Alter Aeon. Although, it isn't the only one out there
to play. There are a number of decent muds to play that are accessible
if that is your thing.

Cheers!

Re: [Audyssey] xbox accessibility?

2015-03-28 Thread shaun everiss

Maybe.
However I have seen the drawbacks of some of the online stuff.
A friend got her system doing some funny things after a net issue,
she took it to be fixed and after she upgraded to an antivirus
scanner after her one norton went out of date and a discount,
something happened and her system wouldn't sign on to anything.
after changing all her online ms account passwords she had to have
someone resync everything, including a full reformat to make windows
say it was legal again and also reinstall and resync her printer and
other devices which you guessed it had to be reinstalled so they
worked or something.
I am currently sitting on a half broken connection with low data and
no voice service atall.
And I am happy that I can exit and enter my clouds as I wish have
access to my files and don't need the net to start my computer.
For that reason and the fact that online is not always that stable I
am against things like ms accounts and other things being primary
accounts on a system.

Now they may have their place but still.

Re: [Audyssey] playing Aardwulf

2015-03-28 Thread Jeremy Brown
I played Aardwulf a couple of times over the period of a year or so.
I liked its newbie area a lot. It was very developed and gave a lot
of information to the player in a manageable format. It has races
which makes some people happy. The quests were fun, and as some have
said, they're not all assassination style quests. Besides that,
there's lot of features such as pets, gambling, and other activities
that give you something to do other than just constantly grind for
exp. The player base seemed nice for the most part, and the helpers
on their newbie channel were very nice and patient.

That said, there were some things I didn't like about it.

You have to stick with a single class for a ridiculously high number
of levels, like 100 or 200 iirc. The races don't have any real
well-defined relationships to each other, though that info might be on
the wiki. Also too, some of the racial powers seemed out of balance.
The shadowy guys for instance at low levels were so much better than
some others that it made it sort of weird. Also it's a very spread
out map. To find things to do you might be traveling for 100 rooms or
more.

If those things don't turn you off, it's well worth a play. If those
things do turn you off, I still think it's well worth a play. Other
than Alteraeon it was the most accessible mud, and the most friendly,
I have played. It also had a very large and vibrant player base when
I was there.

Take care,

Jeremy

hey i got connected to the two towers mud. but I'm having a problem with
mush client it is not reading everything for some reason. here is an
example.

That player does not exist. If you wish to create a new character with
that name answer yes to the question below. Keep in mind that we do not
allow players with names of characters from the works of J.R.R. Tolkien.
This is to prevent confusion for both us and you. In addition, we
advise you to choose a name fitting for the world of Middle Earth.
It enriches both your experience as a roleplayer, and the experiences
of everyone around you.

You are floating in the Void, surrounded by nothing!

A voice calls out to you, saying: I am Eru, the One. Behold Arda!

Your mind is immediately filled with the vision of a lush, green world,
inhabited by noble and peaceful creatures. You then notice a dark blotch
in the eastern part of the world, which begins to spread slowly like a
cancer. As you gaze at the darkness, you are drawn into it. Visions of
evil fill your mind, as dark armies march, and innocents are destroyed.
You notice that the darkness is spreading across Arda at an incredible
rate, consuming all in its path.

Suddenly, the image of a simple gold ring appears. The ring spins on its
axis in space before you. A single eye, its lids rimmed with fire glares
malevolently through the ring, searching for you...

As you tremble with fear, the vision ends.

Eru says: Your time is now. You must come into being.

Type "create" to create your character.
HP:0 EP:0>
You are presented with two visions.

One is light and free, filled with fair skinned creatures such as
Hobbits, Dwarves, Elves, and Men. They live in a green world with
blue skies, wandering directionless and free.

The other vision is stark contrast. A dark world, with brown skies
occassionally lit by a fiery eruption. Well ordered rows of Orcs,
Trolls, and savage Men combine to form armies under a strict rule.
Discipline and command is evident, as each being fulfills its role.

You must choose one of these paths.

To choose the path of light, type 'freedom'.
To choose the path of darkness, type 'service'.

Please be aware, though, that the path of darkness is more challenging
than the path of light. It is recommended for more experienced players
rather than beginners.

You must choose a race. Each one is different, with its advantages and
disadvantages, so choose wisely. The races are:

 choose dunlending
 choose eorling
 choose dunedain
 choose edain
 choose hobbit
 choose sindar
 choose silvan
 choose dwarf

To learn more about a race, type "help ", example: help dwarf
To choose a race, type "choose ", example: choose hobbit

Type "back" if you changed your mind about choosing the 'freedom' path.

[Audyssey] Fw: A Sound Collection Not to be Missed

Subject: A Sound Collection Not to be Missed

Sonniss has released for a limited time, for free, a ten gig audio sound effect
bundle NOT TO BE MISSED by audio drama producers and creators. As this article
from bedroomproducersblog explains:

Sonniss has released GameAudioGDC Bundle, a completely free to download sound
collection featuring over 10 GB of high quality royalty free sounds for video
game development and other creative work.
