Re: [Ganglia-general] Custom Gmetric
Ah that's got it, thanks! Any idea how I can put said custom metric onto the web summary page for the cluster/grid? I have had a look around but I cant seem to find much information on how to add these in! Typically you will run them from a cronjob, at whatever interval you need (make sure your RRD heartbeat and xff values are okay). Assuming you have a working gmond.conf file already on the system, you shouldn't need to do anything else. Re: [Ganglia-general] Ganglia Web Forum?
I think a forum would be a great addition to the community for all the reasons that have already been mentioned, I could possibly assist in the hosting as I have a VPS which I use for my other line of work, but I would have to figure out all the bits and bobs for setting up separate domains and clients etc. Bernard I will email you directly with my private email address if you would like to discuss this further. Would you participate more/less if Ganglia has a web forum? Gee, if only there were a protocol to handle messages and threading and group hierarchy. People use USE it on a NETwork. I know! We could call it USENET! :-) I'd probably participate *less* if there were only a web forum. And if you think this is a good idea, do you have any preference for which forum software to use? Something that provides a good mail-to-forum gateway. Any software that can cross-post in both directions is okay. I'm not against web forums--I just don't want it to be the only thing. Lastly -- would anybody be willing to provide hosting for such a web forum? If you're desperate in 3-4 months, ask me again. :) I could set it up at SourceForge's web space, however Internet access is restricted therefore certain features (like emailing you when someone replies to your thread) will not be available. That's annoying (but makes sense as an anti-spam measure), I think its less of an issue if the forums can cross-post to the list. Re: [Ganglia-general] Ganglia Node Graphs not Showing
Bernard, I have checked my httpd error logs and I got a load of file not found warnings in the RRDS directory, upon checking this directory I noticed that my machine name directory was all lower case - when the error logs reported the hostname to be in capitals. I moved this directory to be correctly named and all my graphs are showing up correctly now, even on the mainpage! However I now have a problem with the pie chart on the main page - but I suspect that might be a similar problem. First, check your apache/httpd error logs to see if it hints at any issues. Since you are just testing on a headnode, I don't suppose firewall has anything to do with it, but in case you have SELinux enabled, make sure you disable it.
