[gatortalk] Re: [gatornews] [SUN]: QA with UF forward Chandler Parsons [FitzGerald]
Have you seen his new look this year? He let his hair growr--looks quite different. On Wed, Nov 18, 2009 at 2:12 PM, Shane Ford go.ufgator...@gmail.com wrote: QA with UF forward Chandler Parsons By Ray FitzGerald Gainesville SUN Correspondent Published: Tuesday, November 17, 2009 at 6:01 a.m. Last Modified: Wednesday, November 18, 2009 at 10:58 a.m. Q: What’s something on your iPod that might surprise people? A: Miley Cyrus, Party in the USA. I heard it on Adam (Allen’s) CD the other day and I kind of liked it. I had to get it. Q: If basketball was made illegal, what would you do? A: I think I could go into the acting industry, or maybe become a golfer. Q: What kind of actor would you be: Action star, Romeo-type? A: I think I could do a little bit of everything. I’m always on my game. I like to play golf, too, though, so I’d have trouble deciding between those two. Q: What’s your handicap? A: I’m like an 88, 89, 90. I lived on a golf course all my life, so that helps out a little bit. Q: What’s the last dream you had that you can remember? A: Oh man. I wish Adam (Allen) was here to hear this. I meant to tell him earlier, because I just had this dream last night. It was the weirdest dream, but it’s hilarious. So last night, I’m sleeping, and I remember that I was at an outdoor court with coach (Larry)Shyatt . He tied my left hand behind my back and I was outside the 3-point line and he kept having me shoot tater tots through the hoop. Every time I missed, he’d just fire them back at me, but I didn’t have my left hand, so I couldn’t swat them away. My little cousin was in it and my girlfriend was in it. I kept getting tater tots in the face. Then I woke up. It was just weird. Q: Finish this sentence: I use (blank) so much, I should be a sponsor. You can’t say tater tots, though. A: (laughs) Nike. Everything is Nike since I was like 12 years old and Nike sponsored my AAU team. I’ve been all Nike since then. Q: What’s your favorite pair of Nike shoes? A: I’m a big Jordan guy. I like the Jordan 11s the most. Q: What’s your favorite place to play outside of the O’Connell Center? A: Vandy. I shot the ball there really well last year. I like the crowd. Their stadium is built kind of like a movie theatre. The court is raised up and the crowd is kind of under you. I definitely like playing there. Q: Who’s your funniest teammate to hang out with? A: Vern(on) Macklin. He’s a clown. He’s a big guy, but he has a big heart. He likes to joke around and he’s a really funny guy. Q: What’s harder: Being a freshman and finding your way on the team or being an upperclassmen and having to find your leadership role? A: I feel like I didn’t have a real hard time during my freshman year. I had some good guys to ask questions to and listen to like Walter Hodge and Dan Werner. Now, as a junior, I feel like I have to take on a new leadership role. Guys like (freshman forward) Erik Murphy and (guard) KennyBoynton will come and ask me questions and I kind of feel like I’m Erik’s dad or something. I’ve shown him where to eat, or where to get a haircut. I feel like on the court, I can be a leader like that too. Q: What’s a guilty pleasure of yours? A: The Bachelorette. I watch it all the time. I’m a big Bachelorette guy. I just watched the last season. I’m getting into that and Grey’s Anatomy. Q: If you can be on any reality show, what would it be? A: I’d want to be on Entourage, but that’s not really a reality show. Reality-wise, I’d want to be on Keeping up with the Kardashians. I’m a big fan of Kim (laughs). Q: So is (Kim’s boyfriend) Reggie Bush. A: Hey, I like him, too. -- GATORS: ONE VOICE ON SATURDAY - NO VOICE ON SUNDAY! 1996 National Football Champions | 2006 National Basketball Champions 2006 National Football Champions | 2007 National Basketball Champions 2008 National Football Champions | Three Heisman Trophy winners: Steve Spurrier (1966), Danny Wuerffel (1996), Tim Tebow (2007) - Visit our website at www.gatornet.us -- GATORS: ONE VOICE ON SATURDAY - NO VOICE ON SUNDAY! 1996 National Football Champions | 2006 National Basketball Champions 2006 National Football Champions | 2007 National Basketball Champions 2008 National Football Champions | Three Heisman Trophy winners: Steve Spurrier (1966), Danny Wuerffel (1996), Tim Tebow (2007) - Visit our website at www.gatornet.us

However, it's the price the top-ranked Gators must pay. The offense's red zone struggles and the lack of consistent big plays are the forefront of conversation. The goals of wide scoring margins and perfect football weren't on the list of expectations for the Gators, but it was for those outside the program. "They want us to beat everyone by 102 (points) and give up no yards and score every time we touch the ball," Black said. That certainly hasn't happened, but a 10-0 record, a SEC Eastern Division title and 20 wins in a row has. Still, it's not enough for some. "They are going to set it way, way above the achievable goal," sophomore safety Will Hill said. "Whatever we do is never good enough. "Everybody's going to be after us because we're Florida and who we are and what we've accomplished. Everybody wants to see us go down." I disagree. I don't think that the team and coach understand what people are concerned about. It's about potential. Nobody is complaining about the UF defense. Watching the UF Defense - you come away impressed. The UF defense is playing at or above their potential. You can easily make the case that the UF defense is one of the top defenses in the country. But you can't make the case that the UF offense is one of the best offenses in the country. The UF offense is not impressive. The UF offense is not winning games for us. We have a Heisman QB but our passing offense is ranked #85 in the country. Our defense and special teams does a lot to help our offense - but our offense does not usually take advantage. We were expecting a top fuel dragster - but feel that we have a pinto. Yes, we are thrilled at being 10-0 and are grateful for that. Our concern is -can we win out with a pinto? If we look like pinto, practicelike a pinto, and play like a pinto - can we just flip a switch whenever we need to - and turn it intoa top fuel dragster - when we need it? Don't think so...I am already a bit concerned about FSU being a trap game (they have huge incentives for knocking us off from #1 ranking. So did other teams...but this game, you can throw a lot of stats out the window!)...and then Alabama's defense! If we survive those, then any team that is in the MNC looks like can score really well. Oliver, 18, will make a court appearance on Nov. 23. Oliver has played in one game this season, against Alabama on Oct. 24. Oliver had an odd recruitment. He originally committed to UT in June under former coach Phillip Fulmer. He changed his mind and committed to Notre Dame in October after Fulmer was fired. 1996 National Football Champions | 2006 National Basketball Champions 2006 National Football Champions | 2007 National Basketball Champions 2008 National Football Champions | Three Heisman Trophy winners: Steve Spurrier (1966), Danny Wuerffel (1996), Tim Tebow (2007) - Visit our website at www.gatornet.us -- GATORS: ONE VOICE ON SATURDAY - NO VOICE ON SUNDAY! 1996 National Football Champions | 2006 National Basketball Champions 2006 National Football Champions | 2007 National Basketball Champions

That certainly hasn't happened, but a 10-0 record, a SEC Eastern Division title and 20 wins in a row has. Still, it's not enough for some. They are going to set it way, way above the achievable goal, sophomore safety Will Hill said.. Whatever we do is never good enough. Everybody's going to be after us because we're Florida and who we are and what we've accomplished. Everybody wants to see us go down. I disagree. Our concern is - can we win out with a pinto? If we look like pinto, practice like a pinto, and play like a pinto - can we just flip a switch whenever we need to - and turn it into a top fuel dragster - when we need it? Re: [gatortalk] Re: [gatornews] Another Vol in trouble with the law
A rocking chair in my living room was once owned by that Bob Williams and used in his office as Administrator of the Chattahoochee Mental Hospital and in Tallahassee as Secretary of the Department of Health and Rehabilitative Services. It was a gift from him to me when I worked on his staff in Tallahassee. A brass plate on the rear reads 1876-1976 Genuine Chattahoochee Centennial Rocker, Serial #: 00060. The only difference between this chair and the chairs used for patients, was that a 1 1/2 eye-bolt was installed on each side of the back of the chair, waist high. Bedsheets could then be threaded through these eye-bolts to tie patients into the rockers with the knots behind the chair. That chair is a constant, sobering reminder of both the compassion and misery of the human condition. I have no idea how many of these commemorative chairs were made for that centennial celebration or to whom they were all given. I believe Bob Williams may have been Administrator of the hospital at that time. These are the chairs that were manufactured at the hospital, probably involving patient labor, that were used by patients and staff throughout the hospital. It's my favorite chair. A. Do you think Chandler might see some tater tots in opposing arenas this year? Ken K MNGator _ QA with UF forward Chandler Parsons Q: What's the last dream you had that you can remember? A: Oh man. I wish Adam (Allen) was here to hear this. I meant to tell him earlier, because I just had this dream last night. It was the weirdest dream, but it's hilarious. So last night, I'm sleeping, and I remember that I was at an outdoor court with coach (Larry)Shyatt . He tied my left hand behind my back and I was outside the 3-point line and he kept having me shoot tater tots through the hoop. Every time I missed, he'd just fire them back at me, but I didn't have my left hand, so I couldn't swat them away. My little cousin was in it and my girlfriend was in it. I kept getting tater tots in the face. Then I woke up. It was just weird. -- GATORS: ONE VOICE ON SATURDAY - NO VOICE ON SUNDAY! 1996 National Football Champions | 2006 National Basketball Champions 2006 National Football Champions | 2007 National Basketball Champions 2008 National Football Champions | Three Heisman Trophy winners: Steve Spurrier (1966), Danny Wuerffel (1996), Tim Tebow (2007) - Visit our website at www.gatornet.us
