I've been a Gator long enough to remember the UF-Miami annual rivalry game

Well, if scUM really wanted to play us every year, they would have joined the
SEC in '92. They were invited and they declined.

I have no desire to play them at all, let alone every year.

I'd like to play them every year, as we are better than UM year in and year
out.

However, our goofy we play a couple times every decade somehow always results
in us playing them when they are good and we are not, giving a distorted result

Spurrier or Meyer our coach? Better not play UM.

I think when we had the chance to add them permanently, both schools quietly
didn't want to, for different reasons;

UF - We're on top, they have trouble putting butts (but not a-holes) in the
seats - why should we give them a boost by putting them on our schedule?

UM - We like to say that they chickened out of our series with them, back in
the day when we were good. Getting pounded by them every year would make that
claim look weaker and weaker with each successive beating, so let's not press
the issue.

By the way, I remember when the SEC season had only six conference games. A
ten team conference and only six conference games. It wasn't that long ago.

If the schedule fell the right way, it wasn't so difficult to win the
championship. Unfortunately, we never managed it (except in '84 and '85, when
the lousy hypocrites wouldn't recognize our titles).

I think they went to seven conference games in 1990, then eight with the
expansion in '92.

This is why we had to drop scUM from the schedule.

Yes, they need at least 12 to have the championship game.
They and the big ten are expanding simply because they're tired of being
overlooked the last week of the season while the se c is getting all the

I agree with your preference, but am realistic enough to realize that the

I'd go a bit further and postulate that the optimal conference sizes are 9
(everyone plays everyone) or 12 (eligible for conference championship). 10
or 11 are just plain stupid, some teams don't play each other, yet there is
no conference championship.

So, assuming all stupid 10 or 11 team conferences move to 12; we need 3

I wouldn't be surprised if Salt Lake City weren't about the same as
some of the Arizona schools.

I've driven from the Sonoma Coast to Lake Tahoe, it's not that far.
Granted, Lake Tahoe is on the border.

Now Boulder, that seems like a hike.

If a conference is small enough for every team to meet during the season, I
would prefer no conference CG.

I think the team that plays better over the course of a season should be
champion, not a team that gets a hot streak.

I dont think conference size should matter... I personallly think:

1) All NCAA conferences should have a championship game
2) No conferences should have an auto bid to a bcs game

Only one of those two leaves immediately; the other leaves after this
season.

To keep its Championship game, one team would need to be added before
this season, and another after this season.

Then again, things could have changed recently, there seem to be
hourly reversals of course.
