[Geoserver-users] Watermarks on Geowebcache

2010-10-18 Thread Pingu512

Adding watermarks to WMS output works fine, but when I use the tiles cached
by GeoWebCache they don't appear. Is this something I am doing wrong, or is
it a feature.
Any reponse would be appreciated.

I would also add this:

- create a script using gdal traslate and convert them to geotiff
- merge the single files, in case they are small into larger geotiff files.

Aside, can you tell us something about what you are doing with GeoServer?

Re: [Geoserver-users] Watermarks on Geowebcache

2010-10-18 Thread Arne Kepp
Watermarking and tiling don't go well together. Imagine what happens
if you render the watermark into the bottom right tile on the screen,
and then the user pans.

Google has pretty much covered the two options I can think of; Render
the watermark on the client, or render a faint silhouette into every tile.

This seems to get cleaned out when restarting tomcat...

Clutching at straws a bit here. Not reallly sure where to begin looking.

Perhaps the only odd stuff I'm doing is running the request through a
proxy - but I would have thought that if this broke it, it would be
broken all of the time. Also as mentioned before I'm populating a
geoext grid with the response. Or should I say responses (plural).
That is, I have the available layers grouped in the grid layout by
their geoext corresponding workspace - effectively one grid per
workspace. So I'm making three capabilities requests in short
succession.

Thanks,

I guess other question that is relevant to the topic
is there a way to reload the coverages without rebooting the server.
As i described earlier once i remove the context of that folder and reboot
 it works.

I guess if i had a chance to reload the list of available coverages it

 take care of the problem.

So i would like to know if it's possible to apply/replace all I did

Do you know how can I do that ?

Re: [Geoserver-users] ImagePyramid batch add

2010-10-18 Thread David Winslow
The REST API doesn't provide any special support for configuring pyramids,
the way it does for auto-importing Shapefiles. However, you should be able
to:

   1. Configure one Pyramid manually.
   2. Track it down in XML form in RESTConfig
   3. Edit the XML file to form a template in your templating language of
   choice.
   4. Create a script that applies that template to the rest of your
pyramids and POSTs the results to GeoServer.

This is actually the process I follow for most actions in RESTConfig; do it
once in the GUI, find out what the XML looks like, make a template, then
script a client.

The UI doesn't provide a facility for this, but I think it would be pretty
straightforward in RESTConfig; just download the XML for the source, change

[Geoserver-users] Geoserver Printing module security

2010-10-18 Thread Tony Stewart
Is there any (easy) way to associate a Geoserver user with the printing
module? The module is unable to access secured layers.

Ideally the module would run as the 'user' that submitted the request, but I
could live with a fixed user with broad read access. A fixed user would
create a security loophole, but one that would take a bit of work to
exploit.
