I have not studied Konkani, so I would like to know which dictionary

[Goanet] Goa's so called Freedom fighters special status for Goa

2010-12-01 Thread Camillo Fernandes

Freddy Fernandes wrote :
During the Portuguese rule we never had a worry, as law was implemented with
uniformity and in earnest, but what we have inherited from India in the last
five decades is the corrupt law of the jungle, which has put the very existence
of Goans in jeopardy. India’s wealth was plundered by the British, some
auctioned and a lot is still decorating the British Monarchy, whereas most of
the wealth taken by the Portuguese has been returned back to Goa. The British
and their boats are welcome to India anytime but our so called freedom fighters
think it’s imprudent for the Portuguese to even cast their shadow over Goa ?
Why may I ask Mr. Karmali ? For a true authentic freedom fighter, fight for
freedom does not end with a change in political scenario, true freedom is not
just victory over imperial colonial rule. True freedom is, freedom from
religious fanaticism, bigotry, casts, creeds, oppression, slavery, corruption,
violation of our basic human rights and above all our freedom and our right to
breathe clean fresh air, drink clean water and eat unadulterated food. Only
when we attain these we can say we have attained freedom, if not the fight
should still continue. Our so called freedom fighters are become deaf, dumb and
blind, they see, hear or speak no evil against their masters, the corrupt
government or their uncanny assault on our environment, as long as they get
their dole they are not worried about the future of Goa and Goans. It’s only
when it comes to the Portuguese names or any interaction with them, that our so
called freedom fighter babus seem to get their perfectly pleated dhotis into a
twist, they have somehow made themselves immune to the desecration and the
decapitation of Goa, and have the audacity to call themselves freedom fighters.
In Goa very Tom, Dick and Harry claims to be a freedom fighter. If not for they
dole, Oh Goa, I would envy you ! Few days earlier there was a highly published
cleansing ceremony by our freedom fighters, in doing so the water of the
Arabian sea must have been further polluted, if at all cleansing was need, it
should have been done when our beaches were under the attack of the tar balls.
It would have indeed been very significant.
Comments : Camilo Fernandes
Yes the so called freedom fighters are truly deaf, dumb, blind and silent now
when Goa is being destroyed. If they and their supporters are really genuine,
sincere and love Goa then they should not dwell in the past, instead of
protesting and opposing the present corrupt politicians whose only aim is to
amass wealth at any costs and destroy Goa. I am sure some of the genuine
freedom fighters who may now be old are regretting what they did looking at the
sorry state of our beloved beautiful Goa. Many so called freedom fighters are
only in name as many of their family members/relations have chosen to opt for
Portuguese passports. How can they object to a friendly visit of a ship from
Portugal when India and Portugal have diplomatic relationship? All they did
was to get some stupid publicity.Rather than burying their head in the
earth to all the destruction taking place in Goa they should come out openly
protesting against this and not waste their valuable!!! time protesting against
trivial matters like changing Portuguse names, visits from Portugal etc.

WENZEL D?MELLO, Mapusa has rightly written in the Navhind (given below) that
seeking special status for Goa should be the top priority of all Goans to save
Goa. The people should demand from the politicians that one of the best ways
to save Goa is to seek special staus just as in the hilly states in north east
India, and I think Sikkim/Darjeeling where their natural beauty is untouched.
Matheran too as far as I know is protected and no development can take place
there and even vehicles are banned from entering it to preserve its natural
beauty.

Camilo Fernandes

 *Seeking Special Status for Goa
*THERE are many issues plaguing Goa. Foremost on the minds of the people is
the garbage problem, then the NH widening programme, corruption, the fast
depleting natural beauty due to indiscriminate mining, rampant urbanisation,
etc etc. In all this, the people of Goa and its politicians seem to have
kept the major issue of seeking special status for Goa on the back burner.
Like the hilly states In North East India, Goa too needs special status to
retain its cultural identity and integrity. Goa is first of all a very small
state and large scale migration from other states is changing the
demographic identity of Goa rapidly. Besides this, we also have an
ecological disaster looming on the horizon. If Goa gets special status, many
of these problems will be resolved and we will be able to at least put a
stop to some of the problems that we face. We have already attained
statehood; we have got Konkani as our official language; so what we need now
 is special status

Re: [Goanet] Goa's so called Freedom fighters special status for Goa

2010-12-01 Thread soter
Forget the Freedom Fighters who are receiving dole. They are reduced to beggars
before the government in liberated Goa. Goa can only count on those freedom
fighters who have not been lured by the government's dole. They are the true
freedom fighters but hardly a few are remaining.

As for Special Status for Goa, i personally do not think that Goans know what
they are aksing for. Politicians were quick to ask for special economic status.
Some industrialists will ask for special industrial status. So Goans must
confirm what is meant by 'Special Status' and not blindly jump on the bandwagon
only to realise that some vested interests have benefited. It should not turn
out like the agitation to demand Konkani as official language and the last hour
claim it must be only in the devanagiri script. Those who used Roman script
Konkani and who selled the ranks at the agitations were fooled.

There are enough vultures around to capitalise on any issue that can give them
political mileage and power.

Re: [Goanet] Is the Goan ladin the same as the American Thanksgiving?

2010-12-01 Thread Gabriel de Figueiredo
As far as I know, a Ladainha can be sung at any time of tne year. It may be to
give thanks for an auspicious event, eg after the birth of a child, or the
blessing of a house, etc.

In my family, we used to have a Ladainha (feast) after a nine-day rosary of Our
Lady of Sorrows (sung in Latin and Konkani on alternate days) followed by Salve
Rainha in Portuguese and Virgem Mae de Deus, in the month of October; a
Ladainha in May to celebrate entronizacao -don't know till this date what
this means. A similar Ladainha was also held at my maternal grand-parents place
at end of May.

Ladainha can therefore be celebrated in thanksgiving for a particular event,
which is not the same as the American Thanksgiving.

from the West and Thanksgiving Day is one such custom which is quite popular.
The state of Goa, which has a thick population of Christians, celebrates the
festival with great pomp and show. The Goans have named the day as ‘Ladin’ or
‘Ladainha’. ‘Ladin’ means a litany to the Virgin Mary.

treatment modality in his words), all he has is a personal grudge against
doctors, hospitals, pharmaceutical companies, etc. This has nothing to do with
science. If he cared so much about a discipline being scientific then he would
have demanded that homeopathic principles and practices be subjected to the
same rigors of self-critical scientific inquiry as modern medicine is, which he
has never done. If anything, his idea of science or the state of being
scientific appears to be exactly the opposite of what it is supposed to be, to
allow special exemption for homeopathy.

Above all, the fact that his entire case is a sham, fraught with dishonesty, is
also evident from the fact that he has deliberately falsified or twisted facts
from the following BMJ Clinical Evidence blog item, which is his principal
reference in his diatribe:

http://clinicalevidence.bmj.com/ceweb/about/knowledge.jsp

Here are his false statements:

1. Eight percent were as likely to be harmful as beneficial
.Dana Ullman

The truth from the BMJ blog is 8% represents a trade-off between benefits and
harm

2. 46 percent were unknown whether they were efficacious or harmful
.Dana Ullman

The truth from the BMJ blog is 49% are of unknown effectiveness. There is no
mention of them being harmful in the latter category. Here is how the BMJ blog
defines this category:

Unknown effectiveness - For which there are currently insufficient data or
data of inadequate quality.
BMJ Clinical Evidence Blog

Please see: http://clinicalevidence.bmj.com/ceweb/about/guide.jsp

To get a sense of what this means, if BMJ Clinical Evidence criteria are
applied to homeopathy or any other alternative to modern scientific medicine,
more than 80% of their treatments would fall under the Unknown effectiveness
category, and all of the rest under Likely to be ineffective category. Please
note that BMJ is only considering hard evidence published in peer-reviewed
medical literature. So testimonials, grandmother's stories and opinion
editorials do not count.

Former Archbishop Lord Carey: We mustn't be ashamed of Christmas in these
politically correct times
By STEVE DOUGHTY

Concerned: Lord Carey said that the campaign against Christmas was part of a
broader attack against the faithBritain has become ashamed of Christmas, former
Archbishop of Canterbury Lord Carey declared yesterday. He said Christmas cards
are censored, school nativity plays stripped of Christian content and Christmas
decorations banned in the campaign to block the festival out of the calendar.
Lord Carey said the trend was part of a broader attack on the Christian faith
which underpins tolerance and democracy in this country.
He made his remarks in support of the launch today of a move to persuade
Christians to show their faith in public and challenge employers who stop staff
expressing their Christianity.
The ‘Not Ashamed’ campaign, organised by the pressure group Christian Concern,
will encourage millions to wear a cross to work or a badge with a slogan saying
they are ‘not ashamed’ of their religion.
Pope Benedict also criticised the marginalisation of Christianity in Britain
and the accompanying push to discourage the celebration of Christmas during his
recent state visit.
Lord Carey said: ‘The attempt to air-brush the Christian faith out of the
picture is especially obvious as Christmas approaches.
‘The cards that used to carry Christmas wishes now bear “Season’s greetings”.
The local school nativity play is watered down or disappears altogether.
‘The local council switches on “winter lights” in place of Christmas
decorations. Even Christmas has become something of which some are ashamed.’ He
added that ‘a new climate hostile to our country’s tradition and history is
developing’.
Lord Carey asked: ‘Do we really want to consign the Christian faith and the
churches to the sidelines when they continue to give so much to our society?
And do we really want to rebrand Christmas, empty it of its meaning, and ignore
its significance for us today?’
The former Church of England leader, who retired from Lambeth Palace in 2002,
said that in many areas of life, Christianity was being pushed out of sight.
He said: ‘The evidence has been mounting in recent years. Teachers and council
employees are suspended for offering to say a prayer. A devoted nurse is banned
from wearing a cross, a British Airways worker told to remove hers. Roman
Catholic adoption agencies are closed down under new laws. Christian marriage
registrars who cannot, in good conscience, preside over civil partnership
ceremonies are summarily dismissed.’
Lord Carey was recently criticised by Appeal Court judges for intervening in a
case in which a Christian was sacked to plead for acceptance of Christian
values.
Lord Justice Laws said it would be ‘deeply unprincipled’ to protect Christian
beliefs and added that ‘it is hard to know precisely what Lord Carey has in
mind’.
Lord Carey came under fire again yesterday from secularist groups.
Andrew Copson, of the British Humanist Association, said: ‘The increasingly
desperate attempts to work up a victim narrative of “Christianophobia” by these
activists have no basis in reality.’

Gilbert is right, there was no Goa inquisition. Please do not shoot the

Portuguese were the first native inhabitants of Goa and Goan Hindus invaded the
place. The first thing they did was build temples on existing churches.

Subsequently, Catholics architecturally modified the temples by constructing
churches over temples but this was purely for aesthetic reasons. I mean, who
can be against a little aesthetic change, like the Afghan Taliban did to
Buddhist statues a few years ago.

The only incident we have on record regarding the Goa Inquisition is one
Catholic stole some milk sometime between Oct 4 to Oct 14, 1582 but Pope
Gregory XIII changed the Julian calendar to the Gregorian calendar to remove
those 10 days and wipe out the Goa inquisition.

Of course atheist medical doctors paid by BIG Pharma drug companies have said
that the Pope changed the calendar to bring it back in line with the solstices.
We know how deceptive scientists can be, especially when some blamed Catholics
for irregularities in the Vatican Bank about 35 years ago, when everyone knows
that Parsis, Jews, Buddhists, Hindus, Muslims, atheists, agnostics, and
Martians were responsible. Can you imagine blaming Catholics for the Vatican
Bank troubles!

I hope everyone thanks Gilbert for his defense of Catholics.

[Goanet] Toronto Death Notice Stats

2010-12-01 Thread Roland Francis
The Toronto Star holds a near-monopoly of Toronto death notices on the level
that the Times of India was once for Bombay (may still be, I don't know).

I spent an idle one hour this evening morbidly poring over today's print
issue which seems representative of any other day of the week. Here are the
resulting stats:

Total death notices 59, Goan-like names 2.

Armando D'Oliveira and Maria Fernandes could be Portuguese or Azorean
instead of Goan.

BY AGE

36-40: 1

40-45: 1

56-60: 4

66-70: 3

71-75: 2

76-80: 3

81-85: 13

86-90: 11

91-95: 3

96-99: 2

100: 2

Unmentioned age: 14

BY PROBABLE CAUSE

Heart/Stroke: 6

Cancer: 8

Alzheimers: 1

Kidney: 2

Schizophrenia: 1

Lung Disease: 1

Cerebral Palsy: 1

Un-indicated causes: 39

Probable causes are indicated by the relevant charities mentioned, since it
is usually the custom to ask for donations in lieu of flowers, to the Heart
and Stroke Foundation or the Cancer Society if the respective deceased has
passed away of a heart attack or of cancer.

A shot of good liquor needs to be raised for the two 100 year olds - Reta
Grace Younger and Theresa Marenick. Had to be both ladies, they kill off the
men with all that argument. Probably departed with full control of their
faculties from what I see of seniors here. One day they are shaking a leg to
a Benny Goodman number at the seniors centre evening entertainment and the
next morning you hear they are gone. What a lovely start to the journey
heading to the Happy Hunting Grounds, a phrase that was common in the Dell
cowboy and injun comics of an age ago.

Far too many younger people are dying in Goa as observed in the Herald,
compared to Toronto. Is this due to road accidents or merely due to lower
life expectancy?

Roland.

[Goanet] Coconut Oil vs Olive Oil

2010-12-01 Thread Roland Francis
With regard to the post from Con Menezes with the US link, a few stray
thoughts and observations:

Who would have thought that coconut oil would be good for health, even for
diabetes, slowing down the absorption of sugar.

A long time ago, too long it seems, Goans reveled in the use of coconut oil,
They used it for sweets, for making curries and double whammy - for frying
pork. There was nothing to beat the aroma of a freshly butchered piglet out
in the yard behind the house, with a small portion of the meat being diced
and fried immediately in coconut oil and served to the small crowd watching
the proceedings. Too cruel and primitive for tastes now, but no regret for
those times either.

Then there was the dried and salted fish, fried in the C oil and then
shredded and moistened in home-made vinegar. No better accompaniment to the
fat parboiled rice served with a meat or fish curry from the clay pot.

Then C oil became a dirty word. Unsaturated oils became the norm and soon
after that the in-thing was mono-unsaturated oils instead of the
poly-unsaturated variety. In the Gulf of the 70s and 80s Mazola corn oil
became the standard bearer of good cooking oil and it was plentiful and
cheap. Olive oil was a fad and a fancy. But not for too long. Somehow olive
oil, the more virgin the better, was foisted on the Goan housewife by word
of mouth. The industry said canola contained more Omega3 fatty acids and was
therefore healthier than olive oil but the Goan refused to believe that a
cheaper substitute for olive oil was indeed healthier.

No one told all this to the older folk of older times who lived, breathed
and ate everything cooked, fried and baked in the local coconut oil. Those
in the snob health fad circle refused to concede that these folk lived
longer because they even ate raw coconuts. Conveniently it was said that the
walk to the Margao market due to the caminaoes coming full from the Borim
bridge was solely responsible for long lives. Even despite the bad effects
of coconut oil.

Now we have come full circle. The people in Goa have enough money to buy
olive oil. They will refuse to go back to coconut oil even if it is
healthier. Giving new meaning to the old phrase more money means worse
health. And all this without assigning any blame to even the more expensive
brands of Indian Made Foreign Liquor - an oxymoron par excellence.

Why is a Goan Pedro always a drunkard, asks filmmaker

Panaji, Dec 1 A Goan filmmaker will now tap the doors of the archbishop, asking
him to examine the stereotypical portrayal of Catholics in Bollywood cinema.

Rajendra Talak, whose film 'O Maria' was screened at the 41st International
Film
Festival of India (IFFI) Tuesday, said that a special screening would be
conducted for Archbishop Filipe Neri Ferrao, a religious leader of the Roman
Catholic community in Goa, complaining about the portrayal of Goans in Hindi
films as vain alcoholics.
'Hindi films keep labelling a character (Pedro) in the movie as boozer and
through that they are labelling all the Goans as drunkards. This is wrong. I
want the archbishop to see this,' Talak said Wednesday.

'I will be conducting a special screening for the archbishop, press,
politicians, bureaucrats, everyone. Perhaps this is the first time that a Goan
Catholic has been projected properly than as a drunkard like in most Hindi
films,' Talak said.

Talak's film starring Shernaz Patel, Sulbha Arya and American actor Cory
Goldberg deals with the subject of a sense of decadence seeping in Goa,
afflicted by rampant, uncontrolled in-migration, drug abuse and rampant sale of
land.

'Why Pedro has to be a drunkard always? And why that Pedro has to be Goan Pedro
only? Aren't there Pedros in other states too?' Talak asked.

Several Christian groups in the state have in the past dissented against the
manner in which Hindi films had stereotyped the image of a Goan Catholic home,
where women wear short skirts and men are beer, whisky or feni swilling
alcoholics a la 'Bobby'.

[Goanet] Story of a “fake” Freedom Fighter

2010-12-01 Thread Wilson Wilmix

Story of a “fake” Freedom Fighter.

There once was a “fake” Freedom Fighter.

During the time of Goa’s Freedom Movement , he did something very
‘silly’ , and was sent to prison for a few days , but it being the
Freedom Movement time, by a strange coincidence, his “silliness” was
wrongly interpreted as ‘patriotism’ and was declared as a Freedom
Fighter of Goa.

Quite a few other Freedom Fighters of Goa , knew that this guy was a
“fake” , but no one reported the matter to the authorities , probably
because they themselves also had something to hide.

Now, we all know that humans have a “conscience”.

This “fake” Freedom Fighter also had a conscience and his conscience
started biting him , for falsely registering himself as a Freedom Fighter.

But what could he do now ?

He had already taken advantage of all the Government Schemes for Freedom
Fighters .

His family had already benefitted from the various concessions given by
the Government to Freedom Fighters. He was regularly collecting the fat
purse of “Freedom Fighter’s Pension”.

How could he and his family , now, live without these “comforts” ?

But a “conscience” is conscience, and it is the job of every conscience,
to question its owner for his wrongs. This man’s conscience too, went
about it’s job.

He hated his conscience for that. However, it is just not possible to
totally avoid the constant prickings of a conscience , for long.

“May be “ he said to himself , “if I spoke against anything and
everything that is Portuguese, my conscience will stop bothering me”.

Now , the entire Christian community of Goa had Portuguese names and
Portuguese surnames . He decided that he should demand , that all Goans
with Portuguese names should change their names to something Indian.

No one in Goa liked his “demand”. Who would ?

The “move” made him very unpopular among the Christians.

He realized his mistake. So he changed his strategy.

He demanded that Goans must change all “sign-boards’ of Roads and
Institutions bearing Portuguese names.

Here too, many of the Portuguese names on “sign-bords”, were of leaders
that did good for Goa.

People started criticising him for this “move” also. He became all the
more unpopular.

So he changed his strategy once again and said, “ Ok , only sign-boards
bearing names of the representatives of the Colonial Portuguese regime,
should be changed ”.

This “move” of his was, to some extent, acceptable to the people . He
was happy.

But that was not enough for Goans to think well of him as a “Freedom
Fighter’.

He needed to do something more.

He came up with a bright idea. He thought “ the Konkani Language is
written by the Christian community in the Roman Script, and the Roman
script was brought to Goa by the Portuguese”, so he should oppose it.

This he did.

Fortunately for him , he found supporters for this “move”, from among
the few silent Marathi sympathizers who were looking out for an
opportunity to kill Konkani and establish Marathi as the Official
language of Goa. He became very popular among them and they made full
use of him to promote their “cause”.

At last , now , he was tasting “success”.

But the Goans who “smelt a rat” in this move, started disliking him.

His close friends thought of him as a “Judas” who sold their Mother
Tongue Konkani to the Marathi Lobby.

He was all confused. He did not understand where he was going wrong.
Goans started doubting him all the more now.

What more could he do ? Time was running out.

Just when he thought that there were no more issues left for him to take
up, a news item appeared in the Goan newspapers “The Portuguese ship
N.R.P.Sagres was sailing to Goa to mark 500 years of the arrival of
navigator, Vasco da Gama to Goa, and the Governor of Goa and the Chief
Minister were both going to attend a celebration dinner on that Ship “.

He jumped with joy and said to himself , aloud . “here is my opportunity
now, to prove that I am a real freedom fighter”.

So he collected a few of his cronies from among the Freedom Fighter s
and called for a “Press Conference’”. ”How can Goans rejoice the Day
when Portuguese entered Goa and established Goa as their Colony ?” he said.

“I will organize a Dharna in the Port Town and physically stop both of
them, from boarding the Ship”, he roared at the Press Meeting.

The Governor and the Chief Minister did not want a showdown with the
Group of Freedom Fighters, so they backed out from the ‘Dinner’.

Our “fake freedom Fighter ‘ jumped with joy. “I won ! I won !” he said
to himself.

Infact , it was a victory of sorts for him.

That night , he went to sleep fully satisfied , that he had finaly done
“something right”.

The next morning , when he woke up , he was shocked to see the morning
newspaper photographs showing hundreds of fisherfolk of Goa , in
decorated boats and live music, welcoming and giving a warm sendoff to
the Portuguese Ship “N.R.P.Sagres”

[Goanet] GOA SEZ LAND SCAM NEEDS TO BE PROBED

2010-12-01 Thread Aires Rodrigues
While the nation is grappling with a string of scams including the 2G, CWG
and Adarsh, Goa is not lagging behind with details of the alleged SEZ land
scam unraveling. The role of former Chief Minster Pratapsingh Rane and
others in this multi crore scam needs to be thoroughly probed. So also the
person who was operating as the defacto Chief Minister during Rane’s last
few years in office must also come under the scanner.

Politicians are known never to do anything for free. On 21st December 2006
the then Chief Minister Mr. Pratapsing Rane wrote to the then Union
Commerce Minister Kamal Nath that he would be grateful if the applications
of seven SEZ’s to be set up in Goa are considered favorably.

An investigation by the CBI (Congress Bureau of investigation) into the
alleged SEZ land scam may not reveal much unless it is monitored by the High
Court. Only a judicial probe headed by a High Court Judge will meet the ends
of justice. But like A. Raja, Ashok Chavan and Suresh Kalmadi, Mr.
Pratapsingh Rane should quit as Speaker of the Goa assembly so that the
probe brings out the truth.

Ghosts at Large

A play by The Mustard Seed Art Company
Goa. Dec. 2010.

Synopsis:
A number of people come face to face in an old library. The library is
about to be shifted to new modern premises. Books are being packed and
carted away. The Librarian is very enthused about her proposed new Goa
Section. What starts as a debate between the relative merits of
housing books in the original ancient building or the paint-fresh new
one, turns out to be an unexpected adventure. The play could be said
to be about authors and books, but it can also be read as a query on
the construction of identity. Goa, where histories and cultures
intersect in intriguing ways, turns out to be the central character of
the play.

[Goanet] Trivialising a debate? Was: Re: Goa Inquisition

2010-12-01 Thread Frederick Noronha
Gilbert definitely isn't saying there was no Inquisition. He's
questioning the manner in which the Inquisition has been written about
over the years, then and now, and by whom.

Like him, I see a Black Legend being created and sustained about the
Inquisition in Goa too. [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Black_legend]

While the Inquisition was harsh and medieval in its times (as harsh as
any other form of religious, political or ideological excesses of the
16th or 17th centuries or later, many of which go otherwise
uncommented on), the Inquisition has come to play a very political
role in the 20th and 21st centuries specially.

There are also signs of it having been given a political spin in
earlier centuries, but those were for different reasons, more to do
with inter-colonial rivalry and less pressing to us in contemporary
Goa.

The debates about the Goa Inquisition today have little to do with
the past, and more to do with the present, including contemporary
communalism. It's hard not to reach this conclusion, George's attempts
at trivialising the debate nonetheless. FN

PS: I think David Higgs in Canada is making some very interesting
points about the Inquisition in Goa. How did it compare to other
brutalities of the time? How was it projected? What were the interests
of those writing about it? Why is it that a handful of -- probably not
wholly disinterested -- authors get quoted all the time?

Gilbert is right, there was no Goa inquisition. Please do not shoot
the messenger (moi) for pointing this out but Gilbert is correct to
imply the Portuguese were the first native inhabitants of Goa and Goan
Hindus invaded the place. The first thing they did was build temples
on existing churches.

Subsequently, Catholics architecturally modified the temples by
constructing churches over temples but this was purely for aesthetic
reasons. I mean, who can be against a little aesthetic change, like
the Afghan Taliban did to Buddhist statues a few years ago.

The only incident we have on record regarding the Goa Inquisition is
one Catholic stole some milk sometime between Oct 4 to Oct 14, 1582
but Pope Gregory XIII changed the Julian calendar to the Gregorian
calendar to remove those 10 days and wipe out the Goa inquisition.

Of course atheist medical doctors paid by BIG Pharma drug companies
have said that the Pope changed the calendar to bring it back in line
with the solstices. We know how deceptive scientists can be,
especially when some  blamed Catholics for irregularities in the
Vatican Bank about 35 years ago, when everyone knows that Parsis,
Jews, Buddhists, Hindus, Muslims, atheists, agnostics, and Martians
were responsible. Can you imagine blaming Catholics for the Vatican
Bank troubles!

I hope everyone thanks Gilbert for his defense of Catholics.
