INDIA  - when checked Perseus SDR at Delhi today March 18 at 10.40 UT,
noted an unknown AIR test transmission on 49 mb, the only SoAS subcontinent
typical Hindi program music content,
S=9+35dB powerful signal on
5899.884 kHz.

The only others in 49 mb at this 10-11 UT hour were a lot of
CNR domestic outlets from Kashgar, Urumqi and Lhasa Baiding sites.

This was heard Sunday November 29th at 648pm AK Time (0348UTC). South
Korea, Japan and China are 12 hours behind me so they would've just had the
sunrise a few minutes prior.  I hear an english language american style pop
song followed by a station liner.

This obviously isnt KZPA Fort Yukon, and it isnt KBIF Fresno, CA as theyre
Hindi/Punjab/Hmong and this sounds like none of them.  I mean, it could be
KALI West Covina, CA but I thought that station was a combination of
Spanish and Chinese leased time and wouldnt be playing music like this.

I sent this clip to Chris Kadlec and he doesn't recognize who it is and
says the song after the station liner is not something MBC (KLKV Seoul,
South Korea) would play.  He's also fairly certain the language isn't even
Korean.

by woman at 0008 then back to music. Lots of lightning crashes this evening
hampering reception.

[HCDX] UNID Help: 95.5 FM US Signal

UNID Help Needed.. Mid-south area DX'ers... anyone recognize this 95.5 FM
signal? It was recorded June 25th at 1146am mountain in Laramie, WY. I hear
a team/gaggle of voices but nothing that terribly identifies station
location.

Right before this I had 88.3 WAYQ Clarksville, TN and right after it I had
WHPY 94.5 Nashville.

You'd think it'd be WSM 95.5 but I hear what sounds like an on air team and
it doesn't appear like WSM-FM has any multiple person on air shows.

I have a mystery 97.7 FM from Wednesday June 17th at 814pm mountain here in
Laramie, Wyoming. There was a pretty big eskip event that day for me but it
ended around 6pm.

I heard all over Southern Ontario, Michigan, Illinois and Wisconsin. About
745pm mountain, I had WXRT Chicago.

This mystery 97.7 played "Pretty Sweet" by Frank Ocean,then a guy talked in
accented english, maybe a french accent... talks about a girl wanting him
to friend her on Facebook.. he talks for about 90 seconds then plays "Close
To You" by Frank.

Take a listen.. does this sound familiar to anyone? I dont think its one of
those XM Sirius radio modulators, although it could be. There is,
unfortunately, no locally identifying information here.

I know, not much to go on!

This is the second day in a row I’ve heard english oldies/ac music and been

Hi:This is my first message to the list. My name is Jorge and I write you down 
from Northern Spain (Cantabria).
On 13th and 14th august I noticed on 6.316 kHz a signal from an unknown 
station. I noticed in some recordings I made to check noise floors in two 
different Grid locators. In both, the signal was good enough to hear details

and now at 12.22 UT discovered your UNID string signals too, mostly
and stronger in Hiroshima Akitakata SDR than in Delhi:

audio quality noted now, scratch peaks hit my ears and
produced also BUZZ signals some exact 4 kHz distance away
either sideband,
visible on exact fqs of 7262, 7266, 7274, 7278 kHz at 12.22 UT.

[HCDX] UNID 1450khz/.. good ears & detective work needed!

Hi All,

I need some help, but I warn this will be a tough one.   I am in Laramie,
WY and have an UNID station on 1450khz that played "Paperback WRiter" by
The Beatles at 632am mountain/1332UTC on Wednesday December 12.  THe
signal; is actually fairly clear for about 20 seconds of the song that
fades out. There are several seconds of a "Fox Business Report" at about 4
mins and 10 seconds into my recording and about 8 minutes and 40 seconds
there's a reference to teaching kids to read a bible.

Problem in all of this, I don't hear any identifying information, at least
to my ears during the entire 12 minute clip.  I already contacted KVCK 1450
Wolf Point, Montana my nearest 1450 playing oldies and it's not them. It
also does not appear on the KMRY Cedar Rapids, IA playlist either.

KQTE in CA is not oldies, but sports now apparently. A few stations I
looked at don't have online playlists.It could be KGIW Alamosa, CO but I
havent been able to check them yet

Any bright ideas on who this could be or anyone able to pick anything out
of the file? I've seen you guys manage to drag out some amazing stuff.

signal, audio is lost for a few moments. In the Pardinho SDR the carrier signal 
is even reasonable, but the noise is higher than the modulation. In Twente the 
signal arrives very weak and I have no understandable audio. At 2000 suffers 
severe QRM since 9790 from RFI. At 2002 pop music. At 1708 Yl speaks. signal

frequency is used by Philippine Radio. Very weak signal trace with no audio the

YI is interviewing an Om in English. At 1400 follows the programming that is

[HCDX] UNID stn, log around 0330-0600 UT Oct 12

Noted UNIDentified station in 25 mb this morning:

CHINA {probably}  11975 kHz between 0535 and 0543 kHz switch-OFF time,
continously female singer heard of Central Asian monotonous audio kind,
probably CNR Kyrgyz singer via PBS Xinjiang domestic via Urumqi site. But
signal visible on software screen had also rush accompanied peaks - visible
each 100 Hertz distance apart, 8x times each sideband.
Aoki Nagoya list mentions PBS at 0305 UT, up to closing at 0530 UT.

UNID  Next to Radio Dabanga 11645 kHz from Vatican Radio, heard an
on-air-engineering technician test on exact 11650 kHz at 0530 UT,
an 1000 Hertz tone test heard few times, once again at 0534 UT.
Technician test was of perfect professional kind on exact frequency.

ASCENSION ISL  7415  "Dandal Kura Radio", Babcock brokered African language
Kanuri service logged at 0511 UT on Oct 12, S=9+5dB audio level here in
southern Germany. But audio feed was NOT CLEAR, spill-over cross-talk in
background also to mention. Some undesired coupling heard so far. Maybe
sound mix in Babcock UK control room happened?

Next door ASC BBC 7445 kHz was totally 'clean'.

4765.009 CUB Radio Progreso, Bejucal? site, 0345 UT, S=9+20dB in Germany.
4775.003 SWZ TWR Manzini Lomwe, S=9+5dB, end 003degr txion 03.57:30 UT
4775.003 SWZ TWR opened two minutes later German sce at 233degr antenna
much weaker signal.
4875.102 BRA Rádio Dif Roraima Boa Vista, RR, 0402 UT threshold level
4885.013 BRA probably Rádio Clube do Para - Belem, tiny too.
4905.014 UNIDentified station string visible at 0410 UT,
maybe electrical noise distortion? CODAR wiper distorted too.
5025.0   CUB Radio Rebelde, Bauta, S=9+20dB, "Los Locos" singer,
but hit heavily by UTE High Speed two tone CW signals on
5021.900 and 5022.100 kHz on lower sideband.
Rebelde had 20 kHz wide broadband signal, 0415 UT talk on
Guantanameros local people, orchestra and pueblo local,
ese provincia, 'Cartandilla Group'. Rough audio quality,
but RHC 5040 next door was much better quality, S=9+30dB.
5085.0   USA WTWW, S=9+5dB, US-English smooth music kind singer.
5810.0   USA EWTN WEWN Birmingham, Spanish! sermon bible reading.
S=9+10dB here in Germany. 11 kHz wideband signal. 0420 UT
5829.985 USA WTWW Lebanon TN, True In Jesus, En sermon, Hope Of
Glory, Safty Our States, strong signal into Germany S=9+30dB.
BUT suffered by High Speed UTE CW signal on 5823.500 kHz,
two CW peaks on 5823.4 and 5823.6 kHz.

Next rather poor signal 5850 kHz RMI Tru News program, S=6-7 tiny.
315 degrees azimuth towards western states and Canadian west coast.

5890.0   USA WWCR carried Brother Stair's TOM px, S=6-7 in Germany.
5910.0   F   NHK World Radio Tokyo, via TDF Issoudun France site,
Guitar music played in French sce 3-5 UT, S=9+20dB signal
at 0431 UT Oct 12.
5939.915 BRA Rádio Voz Missionaria, Camboriú, SC, at 0433 UT,
S=6-7 fair signal, talk in BrasPort. Signal was not
frequency stable, wandered up and down 3-5 Hertz.
5964.972 BRA Rádio Transmundial (RTM), Santa Maria RS, sermon
very weak tiny signal, S=4-5.
5980.005 UNID, tiny peak visible at 0437 UT.
5985.0   USA RMI Okeechobee, S=9+15dB fair signal in to Europe,
unident program, at 0438 UT "Beautiful Balloon",
'up Up and Away' fift Dimension singer group
6010.062 CLM La Voz de tu Conciencia, Lomalinda, Puerto Lleras,
Meta, tiny S=5 signal, weak orchestra music at 0442 UT.
6069.990 CAN CFRX Toronto, - like Bell Radio Network
advertisement noted in En language, fair signal
at 0444 UT.

CFRX hit heavily by European Radio Liberty Belarus program signal
from Biblis Germany on 6075 kHz, S=9+20dB, similar signal also
\\ 6105 kHz from Lampertheim Germany, 13.2 kHz wideband signals
towards Belarus. And hit also on upper side VoA Sao Tome 6080 kHz.

6119.988 BRA SRDA Super Rádio Deus é Amor, São Paulo, SP, usual
high speed sermon in BrasPort. 0450 UT on Oct 12
6135.0   ASC  BBC French sce, hit heavily by High Speed CW signal
around 6132 kHz, some annoying peaks visible on
6129.5, 6130.55, 6131.4, 6132.0, 6135.220 kHz
6159.965 CAN one of the Canadian domestic stations, noted at 0459 UT,
hit heavily by adjacent door px opening from ORF1 px 6155
of ORS Moosbrunn Austria. Election results on Vienna local
parliament. Lots of votes lost by Austrian Socialists,
reinforcing the conservative right wing party, according
to the refugee crisis in Muslim World, Near East and Europe.
Zero cC temperature and fog in Austria this Oct 12 morning.
6184.977 Still visible an empty tx carrier on air at 0500 UT, TX
switched OFF exact at 0503 UT this morning, probably the
Mexican stn XEPPM.

Yesterday and today I am hearing an UNID station on approx. 6158.83 kHz
(perhaps 6158.84) around 02-03 UTC. I may be wrong but the language sounds
like Chinese - but propagation from my QTH to China at this time is not
really obvious.

UNID  {? Babcock Al Dhabbya-UAE bcast ?}   11650  Heard a TWR interval
signal at end of bcast UNID Arabic like HOA program, noted S=9+30dB or
stronger here in Germany.

Seemingly this bcasts is now veiled in HFCC public database file ?

Or something went wrong on Babcock/TWR Africa edit on HFCC database.

Until May 22nd noted 11710 kHz entry of Babcock DHA TWR Africa program,
but missed on June 2nd database now.

Previously I read always 0330-0345 UT entry on 11710 kHz, disturbed by RAE
odd 11710.8v frequency whistle whine audio ...

Was formerly Babcock brokered TWR Africa sce program to Ethiopia/Eritrea
HOA target, in Sun-Mon-Fri Amharic/ Tue Oromo / Wed-Thur Sidamo languages.

When checked PNW/FPU services R Tamazuj / R Dabanga on 11645 /11650 kHz,
noted an engineering test tone procedure on 11650 kHz at 0434 UT, with two
tones +/- 1002 Hertz each sideband, S=9+20dB in Germany. Could be rather
Sudan jammer 5 kHz up.

Now I see HFCC entry moved from 11645 to 11650 kHz, but PNW/FPU services ARE
STILL on 11645 on June 8th. Cat and mouse play so far ...

FRANCE/MADAGASCAR/VATICAN STATE  R Tamazuj monitored June 8 at 0400-0429 UT
on
7315 from Talata-Volonondry MDG relay site,
 S=8 signal in MA and KY-USA remote sites.

11645 from SMG Vatican Radio relay site, S=8-9 in USA remotes.

13800 from TDF Issoudun site, S=8 poor in MA / KY-USA SDR units.
 S=9+15dB in Germany.

13800.013 odd frequency service from Talata-Volonondry Madagascar, many
breaks of Radio Dabanga on air, when TDF ISS 13800.0 signal left at 0429 UT,
before Madagascar took over late around 04.31:40 UT. Noted 11 kHz wide MDG
signal, no jamming when start. When checked again at 0446 UT noted whine
whistle jamming tone hit Dabanga on a like garden fence frequencies row on 7
peaks on upper side band

and only 3 whistle peaks on lower sideband

And at 0510 UT still the carrier on next channel 11650.002 kHz,
plus two whistles +/- 1002 Hertz apart distance, S=9+30dB signal.


From 0530-0558 UT replaced by SMG Vatican Radio facility outlet on even

13800.0 kHz instead, and same jamming signals from Sudan, as mentioned
above.


The Talata-Volonondry MDG 13 Hertz odd transmitter moves to 13765.013 kHz
and is used for Vatican radio program in Portuguese language
then from 0530 UT on June 8th.

... all a bit un-usual procedures this morning.

[HCDX] UNID 11760 centered FM signal from Turk language country, like Ictimai Radio

UNID  In range 11748 to 11771 kHz noted an Arabic/Turk language modern
music on 0500-0540 UT slot Nov 30.

Wide range in FM, had to switch to FM mode on 50 kHz Bandwidth to understand
content. Heard on various receivers in central Europe and Moscow remote
units. No carrier visible. Center frequency seems 11760 kHz

Azerbaijan ?  Heard in June 2014:

AZERBAIJAN  [Nagorno-Karabakh]  11760-11761  I received e-mail from
Mikhail Timofeyev: Ivo, I have one question: one unidentified ME/SoAS
station is on 11760 kHz with awful modulation/audio during the evenings at
1700-2000 UT at least, and at other time, maybe even 24 hours. Their
transmitter is faulty and their wide signal is between 11750 and 11770
kHz. Do you have any info about it?

Looks like as Radio Karabakh on 9677 kHz, or faulty Egyptian tx, etc.

my rx side today June 22, 2014:

Center frequency is approx. 11760-11761 kHz, but broadband scratch-spikes
on 11748 - 11772 kHz on the Perseus Screen visible, today June 22 at
1640 UT.

Frequency change of Ictimai Radio (+Voice of Justice, Voice of
Talyshistan)

11761  Not bad FM mode audio tonight, here my receiving figures on Perseus
set.

Tuner set to 11758 kHz lower flank, (though center Ictimai Radio QRG is
still 11761 kHz) FM mode, mostly Turkish style music of female singer,
selected 50 kHz bandwidth, latter narrowed by mouse click to 26 kHz
bandwidth, on 11748 to 11764 kHz wide space portion, cut/deleted Zanzibar
Tanzania 11727-11743 kHz space, as well as 11765 kHz RTA Issoudun Arabic
too.

S=9+10dB -64dBm at 1915 UT June 24.

Does not work out to be an exact harmonic from MWBC. Split frequency also makes 
it unlikely to be a leapfrog on SW, yet being so close to 5938.000 implies it`s 
intentional. That leaves one more good alternative: a sum or difference product 
between a regular SW frequency and a 9-kHz-plan MW frequency somewhere in 
Europe, both from same site (Glenn Hauser, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

Thanks, Dave.  I think that's the source  of the unID on 4995.  WWCR is on 5935 
and 6875, with different programming.  6875 - 5935 = 940.  And 5935 - 940 = 
4995.   So I suspect 4995 is a mixing product coming out of their system.

[HCDX] UnID on 4995 kHz

The station I reported yesterday on 4995 kHz is there again today.  Gospel 
sermon by a male anncr in American-accented English.  It also shows up on the 
Excalibur Pro, so it's not some mixing product or image getting past the IF 
filters of the NRD 515 or NRD 535.  I thought maybe it was coming from the DX 
Engineering Amp that I have on the antenna, but it's still there (but weaker) 
when I switch that off.  I hear it clearly on the NW-facing pennant; it just 
about disappears when I switch to the East-facing pennant. (Those are the only 
two choices here.)

Any ideas?  Is anyone else hearing this?

music. I missed the beginning of the transmission with the ID. It started in 
1300 with a modulation clear. Out the air at 1322 for a few seconds. At 1327 
local pop music, rap style. At 1329 Yl talk, then 1 kHz signal and end of 
transmission. Fair signal, listening in SDR from Twente. I made a complete

Feb 12 at 1320 tune-in to mystery station (not on 7414 today), in Chinesish,
unseems Mandarin? Today signal is clear, no self-imposed hash or jamming but
somewhat muffled MW are talking, amid music bits; definitely not CNR1 as
audible on numerous 6 and 7 MHz band frequencies and beyond, which were playing
western classical music at 1327; Recorded final minute at 1329, 1330 to open
carrier, tone test, off at 1330:21* Can anyone pull out an ID, or any other

Assunto: [HCDX] UNID on 7413
 
7413 13/Feb 1300 UNID in Chinese/Mandarim. Om adn Yl talk. Quick instrumental 
music. I missed the beginning of the transmission with the ID. It started in 
1300 with a modulation clear. Out the air at 1322 for a few seconds. At 1327 
local pop music, rap style. At 1329 Yl talk, then 1 kHz signal and end of 
transmission. Fair signal, listening in SDR from Twente. I made a complete 
recording of the transmission and I will make available later.  (Jorge

UNIDENTIFIED. 7413,
Feb 12 at 1320 tune-in to mystery station (not on 7414 today), in Chinesish,
unseems Mandarin? Today signal is clear, no self-imposed hash or jamming but
somewhat muffled MW are talking, amid music bits; definitely not CNR1 as
audible on numerous 6 and 7 MHz band frequencies and beyond, which were 
playing
western classical music at 1327; Recorded final minute at 1329, 1330 to open
carrier, tone test, off at 1330:21* Can anyone pull out an ID, or any other

[HCDX] UNID and R Free Sarawak on 11600

11600 12/Feb 1049-1140 UNID with a transmission of the signal with several  
interruptions. There is modulation of an Arabic music. At 1050 I hear the talk 
of  Om, seems to be Arabic. Everything Indicates that is the Radio Libya. If is 
the Radio Libya the really long choice of Radio Free Sarawak Could not be 
worse, of course, from my point of listening. Also may be a transmission test. 
At 1059 one continuous carrier. At 1100 the beginning of the transmission of 
Radio Free Sarawak with talk of OM, with echo modulation. The transmission 
interrupted can still be heard and seen in the graph of SDR from Twente. Good 
signal with moderate QRM of the transmission interruped and noises. In my QTH a 
transmission is good, without noise, and QRM of the transmission interrupted.

As per some of my recent logs, the tone is a leftover from the Sudanese jamming 
against R. Dabanga, which also runs thruout its 1530-1627 broadcast. We would 
sure like to know where it come from, but can`t be Wertachtal.

[HCDX] UNID (Peru?) on 3360kHz

This week I could hear almost daily an UNID LA station on 3360.01
kHz between 03-04 UTC. Probably from Peru, it plays Andean and LA
music with slogans between songs (male voice). The signal is very
weak (here in the middle of Europe). In slogans there appears
something like Q (Onda Q ?) very often. On June 9 the station
closed down at 0409 UTC, on June 10 it got extremely weak after 0335
UTC but I still had a feeling that it was there at 0410 UTC...

Any chance this unid was a Greek pirate?
There's usually one strong pirate audible here
on either side of 1566. Some of the old Greek
songs sometimes sound to my ears like
Arabic chanting :-) Just a guess...

station signed off at 2100 UTC with no anthem played. If there was an 
announcement, I didn't hear it. Also it wasn't parallel to the webstream 
which you get for searching for IRIB Radio Iran, which is listed on 1566 
in WRTH.


Any ideas? The .8 should be a give-away, but MW Offsets doesn't list 
such a station. If it's 2x783 I can't check that, 783 is covered by local 
powerhouse MDR Info.


Of course the station caused a serious het with the stations on 1566 
proper, where I tuned after 2100 (with the het gone). Those turned out to 
be dominated by County Sound from England, one of the last good ole 
classic stations not Golded, but not the 250 Watt test from Switzerland. 
That was heard elsewhere in DL so the quest goes on.
