Thanks Mike,
Null device conflict was the answer, I deleted 2 devices as you indicated
and CPRS could connect in the first try.

Thanks everybody else who gave suggestions to solve this connection problem.

Now I have Two running VistA installations, one Caché and one GT.M to do my
testing.

I guess the next step will be trying to add a patient, so, you will be
hearing from me soon.

Go into VA Fileman and delete everything but the null device for gt.m

GTMD Q^DI

VA FileMan 22.0

Select OPTION: 1 ENTER OR EDIT FILE ENTRIES

INPUT TO WHAT FILE: DEVICE//
EDIT WHICH FIELD: ALL//

Select DEVICE NAME: null

It'll give you a list, pull up the ones that aren't for unix/gt.m, and
give them a name of @
that'll delete them.

Once they're all gone EXCEPT the

GTM-UNIX-NULLBit Bucket (GT.M-Unix) /dev/null

entry, give cprs a shot again.

b) Windows Caché installation (right) in use by Six,Doctor
(Sorry, the message with the screenshot is waiting aproval for its size)

It results obvious that the Caché Database has data in it while the GT.M
Database is empty.

Something not so obvious and new for me is that GT.M Patient selection
screen has a row ob buttons which don't show in the Caché Patient Selection
screen (Process Info, Process All, Process, Forward, Remove.

NOW, what would be the logical steps of work to start having data into the
GT.M database:
1) create a patient?
2) create a provider?
3) create a team?
4) None of the above?

I would like to see my name as provider instead of Six,Doctor I would like

You should also be aware of these limitations in the demo:

- you cannot sign orders with the demo e-signature is not set up
- you will be randomly be loged on as one of a number of physicians as
the login screen is deactivated too

These are limitations which can be overcome if someone is willing to
work on thema new and improved demo will go a long wayany takers???

Actually, no. If there are multiple matches, you get an error
(non-interactive) or are prompted to select one (interactive). If this
is where the resets are occuring, I suspect they are due to a run-time
error.

It sounds like you have installed the VA Demo in Cache and have installed a
potential production version in GTM. The buttons you describe probably apply
to the alerts that will appear in the bottom window as you have patients with
unsigned notes and abnormal test results, etc. The installation of VistA
was the easy part. Now to start configuring, you need to begin to set things
up. The wiki and the geocities links below are probably your best starting
point.

Speaking of electronic signature, what is the proper
way to set this? I have been doing it through
fileman. Kevin

It is a snap to allow people to log in and then,
hopefully, you can enter an
electronic signature. To fix it so people can log
in, go to Kernel System
Parameters and change DEFAULT AUTO SIGN-ON: to NO.
  I think that may allow
the Electronic signature code to be set.

You should also be aware of these limitations in

These are limitations which can be overcome if

If you want to see what errors have been logged, go to programmer mode
and D ^XTER

However, if the error is a logic error and not what is sometimes
colloquially called a hard error, it may not even be logged. If you
think in terms of a language like Java, then what you will find here is
uncaught checked exceptions (with the screen filtering unchecked
exceptions from the default view).

This is an example of what is called a Common option. Common options
are available to everyone. Everyone will have precisely one primary
menu, zero or more secondary menus, and access to a number of common
options.

Maybe I'm stating the obvious here, but you don't have to select the
option at any particular menu. Enter ?? to get a list of menus
available to you. Another wrinkle is that I believe you can control
display of secondaries and common options(?) because some users find it
distracting or annoying for them to be included in the list.
