no proof, a volcanic eruption can do more damage in a day then cars in 1000
years, besides, the earth is pretty good at using it's left hand.
need to get off save the planet, the planet is just fine and will always be
just fine, until the next mass extinction.

Really? While I don't think mankind can blow up the earth like a death star
in one fell swoop, it is quite a spectacularly stupid statement to insinuate
that humans (and humans alone) can not affect the environment. Maybe not on
a global scale, but lets take Mexico City for example - the air in that area
bears the uncanny resemblance to a cancer-stricken large intestine. Does
Mother Nature just have a beef with Mexico and farts on her capital
constantly? Or could it just possibly be, and this is a HUGE STRETCH, that
the rampant pollution from industry is taking its toll on the city?

P.S. The first thing to go should be the bag on demand. It should be
outlawed. Vender will be more than willing to sell you a reusable bag
for your convenience, if you forget to bring one with you.

Just like the pop top was outlawed. You don't see any more pop tops on

Yes. It means I eat the freshest food. Because I shop almost daily (5 out
of 7, or so...), I know what just came in. I get to know the butcher,
baker, candlestick maker; because I see them regularly. It's a nice way
to shop, kinda old world. Turn off the TV. Talk to your butcher :)

I'm sorry if I didn't make it clear. You should drive what you want, but
the true cost of driving it should be carried by you. There is no cost
added to your need to drive a big fat V8 for the damage it does to the
planet. No matter how good it is, it pollutes more than smaller ones and
should be priced accordingly. No motor vehicle on the road is so priced.
No appliance, or any other "consumable" has the true planet view cost
reflected in it's price.

The debt will be paid by someone, and it's immoral to shove it off on the
future. That's the fact an already overcrowded planet needs to wake up
to and fast.

As for my pie in the sky requirements, is wanting non bleached paper on
the shelf next to the higher priced (to reflect the true environment cost)
bleached paper so out of line?

Sorry if I ruffled your feathers, I was torn by apologizing for singling
you out on that side of the divide, but I decided to apologize would
then really single you out. :(

I have a justification for my excess, because there is no alternative I

I don't feel guilty. Not one bit. With regards to the environment, I'm in
the process of buying a new car with a bit fat V8 that meets ULEV/ULEV-II
emissions standards. It emits less pollution than small displacement four or
six cylinder motors of just a few years ago. That's more than good enough to
let me sleep at night.

Are you saying I should spend tens of thousands to buy an inferior vehicle
that I won't like? That's asinine. I may have "pie in the sky" requirements
before alternative energy cars are appealing to me, yes, but you have "pie
in the sky" requirements about life itself.

I'm a big advocate for non-fossil-fuel sourced energy. I wish that PZEV/ZEV
vehicles existed that could meet my basic requirements. And someday, they
will--and I'll be the first in line to buy one.
