[ha-Safran]: Information on the arranger (and musician?) W. Simoni
Dear friends: Can anyone advise any details (full name, dates, where and when active, etc.) for W. Simoni? S/he is listed as the arranger on a Sarah Corby (sic; should be Gorby) Jewish 78 in Worldcat, Accession No: OCLC 81095567. There is also a W. Simoni listed as a musician on two 78s. I don't know if it's the same individual. Any help quite welcome! Best, Joel Joel Bresler, Publisher http://www.sephardicmusic.orgwww.sephardicmusic.org 250 E. [ha-Safran]: Library Standards and Benchmarks
Dear Colleagues, We are a Jewish Day School and have begun the Herculean task of setting official standards and benchmarks for all curricular areas both general and Judaic. We are looking for examples of such standards for the Library program. Do you have any codified library curriculum standards and benchmarks that you could share with us? Our focus is primarily the K-5 campus but we do go through grade 12. Thank you in advance for your help. RE: [ha-Safran]: Graduation Gift Ideas
I second the motion. Telushkin's Jewish Literacy and a JPS Hebrew-English Tanakh were the two books we gave every student in the Morris Goodblatt Academy, the Philadelphia RA's course for adults considering conversion. [ha-Safran]: Encyclopedia of the Arab-Israeli Conflict
The Encyclopedia of the Arab-Israeli Conflict: a Political, Social and Military History, by Spencer Tucker and Priscilla Mary Roberts and published by ABC-CLIO is on the list of best reference books for 2009 from RUSA. I want to buy it, but I also don't want to get it if it's biased, as I later learned about the Encyclopedia of Race and Racism long after we had bought it, so I'm wondering if anyone has had a chance to look at this new one and have any recommendations to buy or not to buy.
