How interesting - I've never seen it before. I finally restarted the

Actually now that I think of it your issue is actually different from
what I had seen in the past. I would be logged into my box working on
something and notice player on one of my servers so I would log out and
try to jump on the server only to find that the player was listed on one
team or the other or in spectate but not actually there. I would leave
the server and get back on the box and they would still be listed there.
Like I said I never gave it much thought. I just thought it was curious
and likely a small bug in the server status and ignored it.

I would look for what you were seeing but I have no servers up right
now. Maybe next month when I get another box running. That is kind of
odd isn't it.

[hlds] Can't create TFC server

2005-11-27 Thread The Cave
This is a multi-part message in MIME format.

[ Picked text/plain from multipart/alternative ]
I run a dedicated tfc server on its own machine. To test maps before I put them
on the main server, I run tfc and "create server" from my computer (not the
server). This will no longer work. When I start the server it gets as far as
"Validating game Resources" and goes back to the tfc menu. Any ideas?

Thanks,
David

If it's a custom map you're trying to test, make sure you have all the needed
files, such as .wads etc.
Mine does the same thing if I am missing files, when just trying to play tfc.

go to your tfc directory and edit/create a listenserver.cfg

This is supposed to be for HLDS help & update notifications.

Look on the bright side -- some of us control the
backbones for AT&T, Qwest, Sprint, and SBC. Right now he's
finding there's a BGP rule directing all of his packets
through Trashcanistan via a 28.8 dial-up feed.

OK, I'd never do that, and I made up Trashcanistan, but
spammers have this tendency of being blocked by major traffic
relays. I'm certain he's noticing the effects on his server
about now. Pay it no mind, it's a self-correcting problem.

It is considered rude form to host a server and
then spam about it from the same ISP. Such things tend
to get the geeks to start experimenting with traffic filters,
purely as an exercise of course.
