You don't need sv_maxupdaterate 100. I don't think you need the default of
60 with a 33 tickrate server, maybe Alfred would care to comment as to why
the default CS:SRCDS sv_maxupdaterate is 60 on 33 tickrate servers? It does
seem like over kill.

Also, you have a lesser powered machine running with more players, and it
has been my experience that unless you are a hardcore Linux tech head guru,
its nearly always easy to get Windows SRCDS to perform better than a Linux

Not bad. Maybe lower the player numbers a little

Following settings are on ALL servers:
 sv_maxupdaterate 100 (set to 100 in server.cfg)
sv_minupdaterate 10 (says console, but not set in config)
fps_max 300 (says console, but not set in config)
rate 1 (says console, but not set in config)

CPUs are running fine. Bandwith is ok, too.
Installed plugins are mani-admin-plugin and mattie's eventscripts

Try setting the sv_minupdaterate to 0, just for the hell of it.

Are you changing the kernel timer resolution for the Windows Boxes, if so
how?

What do the servers report back in rcon stats in regards to fps? Do you have
the gui option enabled to check the graph.

Have you experienced the lag/choke problems yourself?

What does the net_graph 3 show on the client when the lag/choke problems
occur?

I use beetlesmod on our servers and we use beetles commands in hlsw (or just
regular rcon commands). I am a little stumped as to how you think it is too
complicated especially if you run a server. I mean no offense but it is
much harder to setup and maintain a server than it is to open hlsw and type
in a command.
Sorry if this isn't what you wanted to hear but maybe you should try hlsw
again. There is nothing difficult about it after you set up your servers.

Re: [hlds] Steam validation rejected

2006-03-18 Thread whutdufuk

Ok, but I already added that to my command line. In fact, I've added it
to both my hldsupdatetool parameters and my srcds parameters just
incase I misunderstood you. I posted my parameters for the
hldsupdatetool clearly showing -beta swapbeta in the line, and you told
me to include it... into something it's already in.

As far as I can tell, unless I made a typo somewhere that I don't see,
I don't think this swapbeta works.

Once again, here are my parameters:

My command line looks like: hldsupdatetool.exe -command update -game
dods -dir C:\xx\xx -username xxx -password xxx -beta swapbeta

I know I don't need the username and password anymore, is that why it's
preventing whatever -beta swapbeta is supposed to do?

[hlds] 3rd Party error

2006-03-18 Thread Tom French

We are seeing this error more since the last update, and I am not sure how
to fix it.
Running Windows server 2k3 for CS:Source.

With Mani V1.1.0zg
Windows 1.0.1.0(dedicated)

When we try to join it gives this error immediately to our screen:

You do not have this 3rd party mod installed.

We never loaded anything but the -beta swap update, and it seemed to work
just fine before the update.
Anyone have a resolution for this?
Thanks

I found that when I put the -beta swapbeta at the end of the command line
it didn't seem to work. If I put it just after the -game dods ( or in my
case hl2mp) it did update the server.dlls correctly and I no longer get the
steam validation problems. I do hope that works for you, but not being a
dods server owner I'm not too sure. :)

[ Picked text/plain from multipart/alternative ]
tickrate is not applicable to HLDS and certainly not a value of 66

Its sys_ticrate and fps_max and they are dependant upon each other, which is
the opposite case to SRCDS where tickrate and fps_max are decoupled from
each other.

tickrate is not applicable to HLDS and certainly not a value of 66

Its sys_ticrate and fps_max and they are dependant upon each other, which
is
the opposite case to SRCDS where tickrate and fps_max are decoupled from
each other.

Ok so If I decide to put 250 FPS, what tickrate would be good to help
the

As I said, tickrate has nothing to do with HLDS/CS 1.6

You need to go here http://www.hlds101.com/ as you need more help than can
be given to somebody on a mailing list

RE: [hlds] source compatible rcon tools

2006-03-18 Thread Adam Sando
You guys need to read this mailing list more often, and pay more
attention ;)

For a windows based RCON tool that allows for interactive mode, or
command line mode, use the ogsRCON tool written by Frazer from this
mailing list.

Ask Frazer for a link, and im sure he'd be happy to supply it :)

I use this on my server and it is invaluable. Allows for graceful
shutdowns of our server, so that log files are not truncated, as well as
performing maintenance, etc.

Regards,
Adam

[ Picked text/plain from multipart/alternative ] I use beetlesmod on our
servers and we use beetles commands in hlsw (or just regular rcon
commands). I am a little stumped as to how you think it is too
complicated especially if you run a server. I mean no offense but it is
much harder to setup and maintain a server than it is to open hlsw and
type in a command.
Sorry if this isn't what you wanted to hear but maybe you should try
hlsw again. There is nothing difficult about it after you set up your
servers.
