Yes, yes I was talking to you, and I have been reading the whole discussion.

He didn't say that he'd been playing CS:S since beta 9, he said he's been
Playing since '99 with beta 0.9

Here's his whole post that you mis-interpreted:

>>Well I've only been playing since '99 with beta .9. I guess that is why
>>your calling me newbie? Because I've only seen it happen a million
>>times. I say it does and it is a matter of common sense. You have the

>>server has to register all hits. Since his are registering 6 times later
>>than the rest of ours, the server has to "lag" to update "all" of the

>>NOT to lag with the situation that I just explained? Oh! and the 56

>>penalized because 1 Austrian guy wants to play with us instead of his
>>own kind?

>>I am eagerly anticipating your reply so we can see who the real NOOB is.

And perhaps you should take your own advice and read the whole discussion,
before pointing out yet again that there's a difference between HLDS and
SRCDS, and realize that the discussion was about HLDS not SRCDS.

2006-05-06 Thread [GS]-BeNt-

I understand that you feel better about yourself when you're expressing
your negativity. If you don't believe me then I will go into the server
with you and show you. We'll go together and you can ask the other guys
about this. If you stay a little while then you'll see it for
yourself. Do you have cs:s on a workstation and use of Broadband? I
can sign this message to you if reading this stuff gets you too angry?
Maybe signing would be good cause you can use your hands to "express
yourself" and release your anger.

Wow a double post just to me DT.Wow I feel special. As a matter of fact I do
have CS:S even though this dicussion was about CS1.6?

I'm not getting angry or trying to prove a point but obviously someone here
is,you make me laugh. To bad so many comedians out of a job and we have
someone trying to be one.

Well, ok so your 15. It's ok! I understand... Trying to impress the
girls! I have not called you a name and I apologize to the other
fellow. I did think he was calling me a newbie. So, to understand
"/how to carry on a discussion on a mail list/" _From your example:_
Make your point one paragraph at a time. So, you can pick your flames
and show how you're the superior race with degrading comments. Always
Flame the person at the end in a way that is subtle but effective.
Always claim that the other guy is just lying about real experience he
may have had and covering it by "/Just reading the message boards/" and
"/Not researching/". Put blame on "/children/" (coping mechanism for
some kind of guilt maybe?) and make it seem "I'm so important.. .so
popular" (filled mailbox, not enough time!) that I must be right in what
I'm saying. Type A personalities! Got to love 'em or they drive normal
people crazy.

Obviously, this will go nowhere.
You don't have to reply since I will not anymore and you're so busy and
a reply is beneath you or whatever?
Oh!... It still Lags regardless of what you've said.
DT

All I'm going to say is I'm 24,with a baby and a wife.I do not fight on the
internet. If you took my post as a flamewell okBut I do know I've
been playing since '99 and running multiple servers on different boxes and
O/S's since 2002.Been a member of this list for that long as well. And
currently I'm running a dual xeon 3.2 with 2 gigs of ram and SCSI hardrives
hooked into the backbone with a 100mbps uplink speed. And as said in multiple
previous post on this same mailing list I have NEVER seen ANY of my servers
lag on that box due to 300+ pingers. It is a matter of one of two cases. You
have overloaded boxes or not enough bandwidth to supply your players.

But,like many admins that I trust their opinion on this list that I have
seen reply to this list for quite awhile now, have said they don't have the
same effects.

And as far as the other parts of your posts I'm ignoring. On thing that did
get me is you replying to people as "noobs","newbies" or whatever. This list
is here for help not useless debates.I'm all up for a debate on this list
about a situation or bug/problem until someone comes along insulting people
and I bite my tongue and try to do the mature thing and not reply. This one
instance wasn't the case.I never said you called me a name.Nor do I care if
you do.I simply broke yours down by paragraph because there was so much
there to respond to and it made more sense to do it that way.

As far as a coping mechanism.Negative on that sir,you where acting like a
child as you still are so I replied to you like one.And no I don't think I'm
important. The only people I feel important too are my wife and child.I could
care less what you think about me.And DT every reply you have put to this
mailing list has been uninformed, arrogant and misjudged.Obviously you don't
have the articulation to carry on a conversation without being "sarcastic"
to someone.

Oh!...MY servers still don't lag regardless of what you say.300 pingers
welcome!(/sarcasim lol)

Re: [hlds] OT: Maps for HL1DM:SOURCE

It is listen server only. The dedicated server exists, but is not in
hldsupdatetool yet per Alfred. (I dunno about the steam source
dedicated server supporting it as it requires just as much effort as the
-listen server.)

Works for me ok I think, make sure you _don't_ have set sv_wwwDlDisconnected

they are still connected as such. I haven't tested this properly though, but
we certainly have some servers downloading from both.

I would be very happy to be able to use my demos in better ways, not only
for making great movies but for easier detecting cheaters. The step back and
rewind button would be great too :).
