There definitely was a bot related crash, might still be. I stopped running
bots on some of my CSS servers because of it.

I talked with a guy from HPE sometime around the CSS beta (limited one) in
regards to bots crashing, and he said that they were aware of it. Fairly
certain Valve's breakpad thingie was spamming them with minidumps
referencing bot crashes.

Talking of which, those of you with freezing issues. Try starting your
server with -nobreakpad. This way it won't send the minidumps to valve after
crashing (unfortunate for crash stats gathering though) but it might just
restart without hanging.

That solved my hang issues on Linux anyway. Haven't had a server hang since.

Hm, I'm not running any bots on my CS:S server. But maybe bots cause the
issue to appear more frequently...

Re: [hlds] Dumps of Crashes/Hangs on CS:S and TF2 servers, Windows 2003

Hi,

I have same issues on my Win2008 64bit system.
Had two hangs in TF2 and two hangs in CSS today.

Today I've gotten three crashes of my CS:S and TF2 servers already, both
without quitting. The servers just hang, very annoying because they will not
quit and restart automatically via batch file, they simply stay offline
until I notice the issue...

CS:S (non-beta):
Found the console in a hung state, saying something about forcible thread
termination/assertion failed, happened twice today without any apparent
reason (no player disconnecting or anything)
Dump: http://forlix.org/_res/host/css_hang.dmp

TF2:
Found the console simply in a hung state for no apparent reason - it just
hung in the middle of normal gameplay.
I attached a debugger and saw that it was running through a pretty small
piece of code that probably had to do with waiting for another thread, over
and over again. I did a manual crash dump using DrWatson, but its 64bit so I
cant open it on my home PC.

Thanks for the cvar, although the sarcasm was un-needed. This may not be a
big issue for others, but I personally don't like people touching my stuff
and changing the product that I am providing to my customers. And, I am not
opposed to balloons or presents, however, listening to the clapping,
cheering, and poppers for any extended amount of time is annoying to say
the

Re: [hlds] status command highly rate limited even for local console?

2010-08-21 Thread Dominik Friedrichs
I only noticed that when I do this on my Win servers console, the first
attempt works, but successive ones will not yield a response until about 15
seconds have passed - I suspect some kind of spam protection...

If I do a remote status from in-game without rcon, it often will not
reply anything. If I do it using rcon, same thing. If I screen -Urx tf2
(attaching to the local TF2 screen), and do it there, the same thing
happens. I must spam it, usually at least 10 times, to get any reply.

This happens on both srcds_win, srcds_linux, and a local Source game (in
my testing, anyways). It happens on both modded servers, and vanilla
ones. This also happens to me in on CS:S, and other Source games.

Does this happen to anyone else? If so, can this please be patched
please? It is hard to get SteamIDs now when you need to send the command
20 times just to get it to reply. Thanks.

I would have hoped you'd add in a cvar to disable the mode even when
it's on the "forced" day. NO-FUN-ALLOWED.jpg! Thanks for the fix though.

Ok, it's set at 0, the default. I have no party-mode plugins installed.
So why are all the gibs on my server being turned into balloons and
unicycles?! No one is wearing a birthday-hat like the wiki page says
they should be.

Client-side, I have:
] tf_birthday
"tf_birthday" = "0"
 game notify replicated

So why is everyone turning into balloons and it's playing stupid party
noises? It's happening to me on every server, even servers without any
mods installed.

I am cross-posting this to both hlds and hlds_linux lists (even though I
know you dislike this), as it happens on both Linux and Windows servers.

If anyone else has this problem or knows a fix, please reply. Thanks.
