Dude, I am SO sorry for flaming you so badly as I must have there. My
cutting words intended to insult and tear down were horribly wrong,
since I'm the one that typed them, or so I'm told. That entire message

feel match the above criteria. Please send it to my personal inbox

Heh, btw, does nobody else think it's bad form to reply to a public
listserv with complaints and flames about another member that would
normally be directed to Eric S or Leon H directly? It's funny, I've
known plenty of people crucified for doing just that sort of thing, and

being an active member of the list. Great... To the Inbox, please,

up hlds_l with metamod and admin mod and HLGuard and halfd and hlstats with screen

"mp_logdetail"
Bitwise cvar to set the level of detail for logging attacks.
Bit 0 - Log Enemy Attacks
Bit 1 - Log Teammate Attacks
default: 0
Usage:
"mp_logdetail 0" - Log no attacks
"mp_logdetail 1" - Log enemy attacks
"mp_logdetail 2" - Log teammate attacks
"mp_logdetail 3" - Log enemy AND teammate attacks

mp_logmessages is to log chat messages .. so scripts feeded by
an log stream can react to /say and stuff :)
I found those infos on counterstrike sites.. so could be
cs-related :)

I am fully aware of how to moderate my email thank you.

I just do not see the necessity. This list is *supposed* to be about hlds_linux. If
it's an Eric Deacon fan/humour list you
want, then, why don't you go and create one!

As someone who subscribes to this list to read and discuss issues relating to the
hlds_linux server I'd prefer if at least the
bulk of the messages here were about the topic or at least tangentially related to it.

>Please leave our mailing-list-answering-bot have the humour that makes those 100 and
>so message not being boring ;-))

I was unaware that this was a 'humour' list ala 0xdeadbeef. I have no problems with
injecting a little humour into
the discussions and agree wholeheartedly that it's necessary to relieve the boredom.
I, however, do not find any humour
in one list member verbally (figuratively speaking) abusing other members.

I'm not interested in a 'We love Eric/We Hate Eric' discussion. I simply find that the
SNR on this list is ridiculously high and is
contributed to in a large part by people, like Eric, just using the list as some sort
of "self agrandisement through belittling other
people". I have yet to see any displays of 'wit' or even 'sarcasm' as you (and he
mention), instead what I see are insulting,
unrelated and, ultimately, *boring* comments about other posters.

I pointed to him (Eric) as one of the main offenders in this.

I'll say no more on this topic as *it*, in and of itself, is a pointless OT
discussion. I leave the matter in the hands of the listadmins.

No kidding. My last name (as far as pipermail knows) begins with a
parentheses. As far as accusations of pure flamage, why don't you start
clicking and reading? I think you'll find that there's a very few
emails in there that can be counted as flames, especially if you exclude
  responses to others' OT threads.

Sit back and keep your six-shooter in your holster for a second. First
of all, I don't have time to be replying to each message as it comes
along. As part of my job, I'm jumping between different client sites
all day, solving their computer problems (basically). I don't get/check
my mail throughout the work day. You may find this hard to believe, but
I also don't devote the entirety of my free time to these lists. I
really don't *have* much time to give as it is. I am, though, *making*
time right this second to deal with this stupidity right here and now
even though my time would probably be much better spent with my ass in
bed after too little sleep and too many work hours. Now, I go over a
day without any interaction with the list. I come home after working
late (again), having not left my last call till a little after 8pm. I
have over 100 emails waiting for me in the "HLDS Linux" folder. I start
churning my way through them, deleting most before they've been open 5
seconds (you blame ME for that?). However, out of those hundred or so
emails, there are still some I reply to, and this happens all in a row.
So you get the entirety of my contribution to the list in the space of,
what, 45 minutes or so? Some guy in Europe checks his mail during his
lunch break and finds almost half the 30 new messages are from me (duh).
And now the flamage begins alongside the demands that Valve "do
something". Pull your head out and give me a fucking break. I take
enough shit from clients and computers all day without having to get it
from some dumb prick(s)--some of whom have contributed little or nothing
at all themselves--being shitheads just because they can. Not taking
the time to figure it out? Complaining that all my replies are back to
back to back? Complaining that my messages may not contain any more
substantive content than the massive wave of others' messages? Why
would you single ME out, other than I make myself a visible target by
not ignoring emails like this one to which I'm replying? Please, leave
your personal issues at the door.

While random selection of a few ppl on the same list have a daily averge
between 2 to 6.

If you look at the list by thread you'll see you replied in almost all
the threads that were posted yesterday (I counted 4 smaller threads you
didn't post in).

Now complaining about 100 messages in you inbox is not a valid argument,
you subsribed youself.

If you look at most of the flames you'll see that most of the times you
trigger those flames yourself (or probably won't see as you don't seem
to be contious about it).

I for one signed up to this list because I wanted to talk about hlds_l
