Re: [hlds_linux] Left 4 Dead Update Available

2009-03-11 Thread Coldorak
Same here: 8 L4D servers, no one respond any more to A2S_INFO queries. I
don't have sv_password on my server.cfg / serverXX.cfg
The servers show up in HLSW, but HLSW doesn't report they're running
metamod/sourcemod.
And my PHP scripts querying the servers from my website homepage does not
show the L4D server any more.

Yeah, that could be what happened. Weird that none of us had seen it

[hlds_linux] Left4Dead: Workaround for a few problems after the patch

2009-03-11 Thread Adam Nowacki
If you have problems with either:
1) no players joining the server,
2) sv_search_key not working,
3) sv_steamgroup_exclusive 1 not working,
then add this at the end of your server.cfg in exact order as here (skip
the comments obviously ;):
sv_steamgroup "number" // remove if not using sv_steamgroup
  sv_steamgroup_exclusive 1 // remove if not using
sv_search_key "key" // remove if not using sv_search_key
sv_gametypes "coop, versus" // do not remove and must be set last
  setmaster add 68.142.72.250:27011
  setmaster add 69.28.140.246:27011
  setmaster add 69.28.140.247:27011
  setmaster add 72.165.61.189:27011

Repeat: do not remove sv_gametypes or set it before either sv_search_key
or sv_steamgroup_exclusive

This bug has been in the game since release? It doesn't happen all
the time but when I see it happen, it's usually because of a hunter
pouncing the survivors as the lift is going up, some survivors are
pushed away on the side of the ladder and get stuck in it.

We had 1 person report their server is not showing up on Windows. Most
of our other servers are showing up. Haven't sorted out why. Just
going to reinstall and hope that fixes whatever was broke in his config.

Re: [hlds_linux] Left 4 Dead Update Available

2009-03-11 Thread Ben
We're getting exactly the same thing on our servers. Running in forked
mode or just spawning a single server has the same result, it all starts
up fine, reports that it connects to the Steam servers fine, goes into
secure mode and hibernates.

None of the servers show up in the Steam Group they are assigned to or
in the server browser you can open from console. Trying to play a game
from our test PC can't connect to any of the servers that do show in the
server browser and using the lobby system doesn't find a server to play
on either, so I'd assume its a widespread problem.

Re: [hlds_linux] Left 4 Dead Update Available

2009-03-11 Thread David Parker
Turns out it's not the new cvar that broke A2S_INFO.  For some reason, my two
password-protected servers are not responding to this query following the
update.  Having sv_password set seems to be the problem.  Can anyone else
confirm this?

Also, note that the new cvar is NOT sv_gametype as stated in Jason's e-mail.
It's actually sv_gametypes (with an 's' on the end).  Try "find gametype" in
the console.

I'm seeing this as well, but only on servers which have the sv_gametype cvar

Servers without the new cvar set respond to all of my queries just fine.  Can

A required update for Left 4 Dead has been released. Please run
hldsupdatetool to receive it. The specific changes include:

Versus Mode Changes
- Tank melee attack can now hit multiple Survivors in one swing
- Fixed Tank punch being able to hit targets behind walls
- Fixes to 'Tank parking'. The Tank will now run back and attack the
Survivors if he becomes AI due to two players expiring the frustration meter
- Fixed a case where a Tank frustration meter could run out right as he was
in his death animation and he would come back to life
- Fixed a case where the Tank was moving too slowly while crouching and
being shot
- Tanks now have the possibility of spawning in a slightly different
position for the first and second teams
- The order that the teams play as Survivors is now determined by which team
has the higher overall score. The winning team will play as Survivors first
- The Smoker tongue can now target and grab victims through common infected
- Increased the cone in which a Smoker can grab a target
- The Witch no longer cuts Smoker tongues in a radius around her
- Boomers that explode in mid-air will now hit Survivors directly below them
with Bile
- Reduced the damage that burning Hunters do to pounced victims
- Adjusted the time at which players take over from bots to avoid 5 seconds
of the bot standing idle while the player finishes connecting.
- Fixed some cases where versus score was not being recalculated properly.
It is no longer beneficial to pass pills between players at the end of the
round or heal other players and then shoot them
- Fixed a case where it was possible to spectate an AI infected and hit +use
to take them over

Server Changes
- Added convar sv_gametype that allows server operators to limit the types
of games that will start on their server. Default value is 'coop, versus'.
Can be changed to just 'coop' or just 'versus' to limit to those game types

General changes
- Fixed a case where players would join as a dead Survivor when a living
Survivor was still available
- Fixed a case where restarting a level due to the team dying would give
more than the max primary ammo on restart
- Fixed the speaking icon showing up on the local player during level
transition if voice_vox was set to 1
- The scoreboard now shows the numeric value of a player's ping

GameUI
- Quick match will now try to match to any campaign. Removed the preference
to match to games according to the player progressing through all campaigns
- Games in a finale are now joinable via the Friends and Steam Group games
list

I honestly think nerfing tank parking is a bad decision. You shouldn't
make a tank suicide by having to attack players that are waiting to mow
him down.AI tanks are *not* hard to take out as a survivor, since it
  sticks to one person.

- Tanks now have the possibility of spawning in a slightly different position
for the first and second teams
- The order that the teams play as Survivors is now determined by which team
has the higher overall score. The winning team will play as Survivors first
- The Smoker tongue can now target and grab victims through common infected
- Increased the cone in which a Smoker can grab a target
- The Witch no longer cuts Smoker tongues in a radius around her
- Boomers that explode in mid-air will now hit Survivors directly below them
with Bile
- Reduced the damage that burning Hunters do to pounced victims
- Adjusted the time at which players take over from bots to avoid 5 seconds of
the bot standing idle while the player finishes connecting.
- Fixed some cases where versus score was not being recalculated properly. It
is no longer beneficial to pass pills between players at the end of the round
or heal other players and then shoot them
- Fixed a case where it was possible to spectate an AI infected and hit +use to
take them over

Server Changes
- Added convar sv_gametype that allows server operators to limit the types of
games that will start on their server. Default value is 'coop, versus'. Can be
changed to just 'coop' or just 'versus' to limit to those game types

General changes
- Fixed a case where players would join as a dead Survivor when a living
Survivor was still available
- Fixed a case where restarting a level due to the team dying would give more
than the max primary ammo on restart
- Fixed the speaking icon showing up on the local player during level
transition if voice_vox was set to 1
- The scoreboard now shows the numeric value of a player's ping

GameUI
- Quick match will now try to match to any campaign. Removed the preference to
match to games according to the player progressing through all campaigns
- Games in a finale are now joinable via the Friends and Steam Group games list

Re: [hlds_linux] [CS 1.6] Significant increase in complaints about "Error verifying STEAM UserID Ticket"

2009-03-11 Thread Andrew Armstrong
Hi,

I don't think this would be a configuration related problem (other than you
possibly removing master servers via the config file), so I think we can
disregard that.

* Do you have a firewall in place? If so, perhaps disable it for a few days
to rule it out as a problem.

* Try running hldsupdatetool to ensure you have the latest version.

* Can the user who starts the game server write to the srcds folder?

* Does your firewall silently drop idle connections (eg, during the night
when you have no activity)? If so, perhaps Steam does not know about this
and fails to reconnect its auth socket (but when trying to auth players,
cannot seem to connect anymore - because the connection was lost).
