Re: [hlds_linux] New browser engine support for steam?

2009-06-04 Thread Joachim Sehlstedt
Even after you uninstall IE in Windows 7 the dlls that handle the
rendering is still there because so many 3rd party applications uses
them to render help files and such. So yes they can still expect it to
work even if you uninstall it, it's just the gui you uninstall.

[hlds_linux] Can't query server if -nomaster is used

2009-05-04 Thread Joachim Sehlstedt
Hi,

Dunno if anyone else posted this, but since last update of vanilla hlds
if I use -nomaster I can't query the server for status, but connecting
and playing on it works fine if I connect from the console. Removing the
-nomaster and the server shows up just fine in the favorite list and I
can query it for status again.

Anyone else noticed this and is there any fix, beside not using -nomaster?

2009-04-21 Thread Joachim Sehlstedt
Hi,

Here is what I have for fully updated servers:

hlds_i686
Protocol version 48
Exe version 1.1.2.6/Stdio (cstrike)
Exe build: 18:05:14 Oct 24 2008 (4383)

hlds_amd
Protocol version 48
Exe version 1.1.2.6/Stdio (cstrike)
Exe build: 11:19:19 Sep 23 2008 (4352)

Doesn't seem like the version got updated for this release as these are
the same version numbers I posted like a week ago to the list, and we
were not running the beta. I'm guessing they forgot to update the
version string or they didn't actually touch those files for these changes.

I just updated my server to the latest beta, and there is a really
strange bug(?). When you're crouching or standing still while
 jumping,
it's making this jump sound - as you're running. You can't hear the
 sound yourself when you're jumping.

Is this a bug or a new wanted feature?

Re: [hlds_linux] Half-Life 1 Engine Update Released

2008-10-24 Thread Joachim Sehlstedt
Alfred posted info about it to the list:

We have released an update for the Half-Life 1 engine, run the
hldsupdatetool to get the update.

This update fixes crashes on startup if you had a banned.cfg and the
sv_password state not being displayed properly in the serverbrowser.

There is a known bug with servers not listing if you use the setmaster
command, so remove any setmaster calls until we can release a fix for
the issue.

- Alfred

We have released an update to the Half-Life 1 engine, run the
hldsupdatetool to get the update.

This update fixes the "Assert( IsIdxValid(i) )" and then crash error
when running a server and fixes a crash on startup under linux if you
had virtual interfaces.

Known bugs that are still being worked on are the setmaster call
stopping server listing and sv_visiblemaxplayers no longer being used.

Re: [hlds_linux] Why Valve want to break HL1 engine aftereachupdates...

2008-10-23 Thread Joachim Sehlstedt
Sure you are doing the connection right then? Using udp to the port the
server is running on works just fine here.

Beside parsing and error handling this is all I do in the php class I've
written.

fsockopen("udp://" . $hostname, $port, $this->errno, $this->error, 5)
$data =
"\xFF\xFF\xFF\xFF\x54\x53\x6F\x75\x72\x63\x65\x20\x45\x6E\x67\x69\x6E\x65\x20\x51\x75\x65\x72\x79\x00";
fwrite($this->socket, $data, strlen($data))

below. This update will require all game servers to restart.

 Bug Fixes:

Hi,

On one of our machines the steam binary just does a Segmentation fault
when trying to use "./steam -command update -game cstrike -dir .",

[hlds_linux] Change font in the scoretab (CS 1.6)

2007-03-13 Thread Joachim Sehlstedt

Hi,

Dunno if anyone else brought this up, sure a lot of other knows about
it. But if you connect to a server with & in front and after your nick,
eg &mynick&, you get a smaller font on the scoretab. After you have
joined just change your nick to whatever you want and the font will
remain until a mapchage/reconnect.

Hi

I am running a CSS server on a FreeBSD box, lastest version. The server has
been running fine for a year or so. Maybe a crash every week. But now it crash
atleast once a day and then it refuse to start again. I have to reboot the
server to make it get up again, or else it will just update the server, which
takes 8-10 minutes(!), the bots join the server and then it crash immedieately
with this crash report:

--
CRASH: Tue Dec 26 01:09:44 CET 2006
Start Line: ./srcds_amd -game cstrike -debug -ip 213.112.175.244 -port 27015
-rcon_port 27015 +maxplayers 29 +map de_dust2 -autoupdate -tickrate 100
+max_fps300
End of Source crash report
--

I am running mattie eventscripts, ptbx, statsmeminimum on the server (all
latest versions). I am also running Mani 1.1.0zk.

What could possibly be wrong? I haven't even done any changes to the server. I
also tried to redownload the server and then copied the addons and cfg-files,
but no difference.

Thanx in advance!

Hello,

I discovered a bug with the linux version of the new CS:Source beta
release. The server freezes after about 10-20 minutes of play for
about 2-3 minutes. During this time you cannot type into console and
the server drops all clients. After the freeze is over - everything
goes back to normal. This was / is not a problem with the "normal"
release of CS:Source.

First i thought this was a problem with my plugins (mani_admin_plugin
and etb), but after a lot of testing - disabling the plugins only
postponed the freeze for 5-10 minutes.

I am running the srcds server with AMD Athlon XP running @ 2.0Ghz
(1GB)and Debian linux.

I updated kernel to 2.6.18-cks1. This did not solve the problem. And I
tested the beta-release with clean install without any addons nor bots
- it just freezes.

Any ideas what could be done about this`?

So it's more or less a proxy? I believe VAC checks for those

Re: [hlds_linux] selecting Content Server for Steam updates

2006-09-25 Thread Joachim Sehlstedt

Hi,

Found this old information on the list:

"We released the new HldsUpdateTool today, which has the capability to let
people suggest preferred content servers.

To use it, you need to create a file in the same directory as the tool
called Steam.cfg (the S has to be uppercase on Linux), and put the
following
line in it:

PreferredContentServerIDs = "x y z etc"

(again case is important)

Where x y and z are the IDs of the CSes they'd like to go to first. EG
computergames.ro would put "1 31". You can list as many as you want."

[hlds_linux] SourceTV bug with -tvdisable / -nohltv (linux server)

2006-01-27 Thread Joachim Sehlstedt

Hi,

Maybe this has been brought up before, but I didn't find it in my mail
archive.

Anyway, I've started the server with -tvdisable and -nohltv, when the
first map is loaded everything works fine a tv_status will give you
"SourceTV not active.". However if you do a changelevel the bot will
enter the game, tv_status will still say that the "SoruceTV not active"
and the server won't bind to port 27020. Why does the "client" join?

tv_enable "1" (in cfg)

tv_status
SourceTV not active.

changelevel de_dust2

L 01/27/2006 - 19:33:54: "SourceTV<2><>" connected, address "none"
L 01/27/2006 - 19:33:54: "SourceTV<2><>" entered the game

status

# userid name uniqueid connected ping loss state adr
# 2 "SourceTV" BOT active

tv_status
SourceTV not active.

Server is running version 1.0.0.26/7 2596 and with binary for i686

That's normal in all source servers. Probably a unicode name. When
parsing names in my log analyzer I had to use a regexp filter to kill
all control chars to stop similar problems when writing to DBs etc.

Re: [hlds_linux] Half-Life 1: Engine update released

2005-08-14 Thread Joachim Sehlstedt

Hi,

What I did find out is that the server will only crash when running
glibc 2.3.2 on Linux kernel 2.6.12.1, running kernel 2.6.8 works without
no problem. I have not tested the kernels between those two. Upgrading
to glibc 2.3.5 on kernel 2.6.12.1 made the problem go away. I've also
talked a bit with Alfred off-list and he confirmed the problem on my
server and ran some debugging on it. I've also gave him access to
another server we have here so he could debug it better, but I guess he
left work before reading my last reply. He also told me that he might
have a solution for it.

If you are running Linux and have this problem just upgrade the glibc to
2.3.5 and you should be all right.

greetings
Joachim Sehlstedt

Here's what I've found for BSD users (linux users might want to

from 2001 era)..

VERY old glibc's, linux_base is redhat-6 :)

[EMAIL PROTECTED] egrep -r glibc-2.2 linux_*
linux_base/Makefile: glibc-2.2.5-44.legacy.3.i386.rpm:legacy \
linux_base-src-rh-7.3/Makefile: glibc-2.2.5-44.legacy.3.src.rpm:legacy \

Somewhat newer glibc's:

[EMAIL PROTECTED] egrep -r glibc-2.3 linux_*
linux_base-8/Makefile: glibc-2.3.2-4.80.8.${ARCH}.rpm:new \
linux_base-rh-9/Makefile:DISTFILES= glibc-2.3.2-27.9.7.i386.rpm:new \
linux_base-src-rh-8/Makefile: glibc-2.3.2-4.80.8.src.rpm:new \
linux_base-suse-9.1/Makefile: glibc-2.3.3-98.i586.rpm \
linux_base-suse-9.2/Makefile: glibc-2.3.3-118.i586.rpm \
linux_base-suse-9.3/files/rpmlist.conf:glibc|glibc-2.3.4-23.2.i586.rpm||on

I removed linux_base-8 (glibc 2.3.2) and used the suse 9.3 base
(glibc 2.3.4) and I don't have any problems. If you chose to upgrade
glibc (older linux versions like redhat 8 do not have updated glibc
packages so you might be out of luck), so in effect, glibc versions <
2.3.4 aren't recommended for newer hl1.6 binaries.

This update enables VAC2 by default for all Half-Life 1: Engine

protection for your server add "-insecure" to the command line when you
run it.

The update also disables old style queries by default. To enable old
queries set "sv_enableoldqueries" to "1" (this is NOT recommended, if
you set this you will expose your server to a potential DDoS attack).
