Re: [hlds_linux] Client timed out

2011-04-17 Thread Tony Paloma
There are two separate messages. The one that says " timed out"
is because they are no longer responding to game traffic (ex: they crashed).
The one that says "Client timed out" (literally that) is due to a Steam
connection problem usually on the client end but can occur en masse
occasionally when Steam goes down.

The clients do not time out due to connection loss, they actually crashed
their game and thus timed out for that reason.

I suspect that the culprit relies in the 1st update, specifically in dynamic
model loading that isn't just quite complete because this looks more of the
same thing as the multicore system back in the days when it wasn't running
just quite stable.

Re: [hlds_linux] Client timed out problems on tf2 server

2010-07-17 Thread ics
Yeah. I have seen some odd timeouts and players are also thinking why did they
suddenly disconnect but did not drop from irc or from thr internet but only
from the tf2 server. It might be related to kigen ac as i have that too.perhaps
not but it is a possibility.

Just like to say at the end that this does not occur on connect but suddenly
during the game. It's like no steam logon error.

2010-07-17 Thread Adrian Forze
Anyone else getting "Client timed out" problems lately on their tf2 servers?
Im not sure if its client related or server related, but a every map which
lasts about 30 minutes about 15-20 players randomly gets "timed out". In
server logs i see only "player has disconnected. reason: timed out". Im
pretty sure it started since engineer update or after few engine updates
just after engineer update. Btw server is 30 maxplayers, running latest
metamod source and sourcemod, kigenac etc.. I am sure that its not one of
plugins (tried running server also without plugins), but some bug in engine
(or might me some steam authentification servers problems).. Thats also not
some server's connection problem, connection is stable and everything was
fine before..

[hlds_linux] Client timed out while answering challenge

2006-03-24 Thread Marcel
Hi there,

A customer gets the message "Client timed out while answering challenge"
in CS 1.6. As I can see it on a screenshot it's after a sv_restartround.

I cannot explain what this is, because it's the first time I hear about
such a problem. Does someone has information about this?

Server Infos:
hlds_i686
version : 47/1.1.2.5/Stdio 3421 secure
tcp/ip : 82.96.113.3:27040

Intel(R) Pentium(R) 4 CPU 3.00GHz
HT enabled
Fedora Core 4
Kernel 2.6.15.4 (vanilla)
Multihomed (3 IPs)

Please let me know if you need further information.

Cheers,

Marcel

Re: [hlds_linux] Client timed out

2006-02-06 Thread Craig Moore
I can't tell you a definite reason that it's happening, but I can give
you an idea. Seeing as I'm on a satellite connection, when I SSH to my
server and reattach to my screen session, my satellite sometimes will
stop receiving data for about 30 seconds or so from my server. What
this does to the process inside the screen session is basically cause
it to wait to send more of what it prints out to the console to my SSH
session. In essence, the srcds process is waiting on my client to
catch up and has nowhere to send the data. I'm not the best at
explaining things in simple terms, so forgive any part of that which
may be an inaccurate representation. Anyways, usually if my satellite
lags for too long, it will drop most of the clients on the server not
long after my terminal catches up. Perhaps there is something
constantly attached to the screen on the server that is causing it to
hang and wait to output more data. If you're constantly leaving a SSH
session attached to the screen, perhaps you should consider only doing
so when you need to view the console. A program like HLDS would also
be a great alternative to monitoring from the actual server console.
If this is not related to what's happening on your servers, just
disregard this message.
Now that I read it back over, it barely makes sense to me, but I hope
it's of some help to you. I'm too tired to edit this.

Hi all,

Apologises if this has been discussed before, but hey.

Recently I've noticed a lot of clients randomly disconnecting from the
server with the reason "Client timed out", even though they were running
along, guns blazing before getting dropped.

Counter-Strike: Source, 40 players, UK server on a 100mbit port - it
hasn't actually happened to me, but it seems to happen to a few people.

The drop reason seems a bit vague - is it related to the Steam client or
VAC, rather than the game or the server itself?

Cheers,
