Research methods one of them is to reboot.
Another is to delete some files in person steam client.
But here more info about the error from steam:

(The reboot is usually the best)

this error after 5 minutes playing.
Deleting clientregistry.blob does nothing.

Re: [hlds_linux] Error verifying steam UserID ticket

2008-07-20 Thread Marcel
This "error verifying steam userid ticket"-issue is still around sometimes.
But it doesn't seem to be a client-side only problem. Switching an
affected gameserver to another machine did "fix" the problem for me
(copied files, "copied" ip, new server has same distro, same kernel,
just "other" - but quite similar hardware).
But that's not really a solution.

I'm guessing there is a requirement to 'kill steam' before deleting the
ClientRegistry.blob. I don't think I was doing that. But it is still curious
that the only servers affected were the two on the machine I rebooted. All
others worked and other internet servers worked.

I personally think this is unacceptable behavior by Steam.

Solutions like "Did you try to unplug it and then plug it in again?"

Although this is a CSS prob, I had this danny just after i talked to you on
msn about updating my tf2 server.

For a few moments i had got the User ID Ticket error, i then reconnected and
had a steam certificate error 0/2048.

When i reconnected again it was fine.

Just sharing this.

2008-07-04 Thread Danny Smith
We are getting a lot of complaints from our CSS clients about this, is
anyone else getting this? Or is there a fix I missed?

I've tried updating and it does not fix the problem. L

I've also tried re-installing from scratch the only solution I have been
able to make was to move them to a new machine.

I have problems connecting to my own beta TF2 linux server. The server runs
fine (apart from the missing "particles/error.pcf" file but I get rejected
when connecting to the server with an "Error verifying STEAM UserID Ticket"
message.

The console also shows "Dropped from server (Error verifying STEAM

Anybody else experiencing this?

Are you trying to run a mod? Mods that haven't been converted to the SDK
will boot people like that (such as the Dystopia Demo) if you don't have an
older version of the server files.

If not, just ignore this.

Hi all,
Recently on one of our servers, we have been getting a lot of complaints
from people who are not able to get in on the server, because they
receive an error: "Error verifying steam ticket". I have had those
myself in the past and normally a restart of steam solves this. For this
server however, the problem persists even if they restart their pc
completely.
So.. For some people (including myself) the server works perfectly fine.
For others it just throws them out with "Error verifying steam ticket".
The log displays this:
L 08/21/2006 - 23:18:26: "NameOf Person<126><>"
connected, address "123.123.123.123:27005"
L 08/21/2006 - 23:18:36: "NameOf Person<126><>"
entered the game
L 08/21/2006 - 23:18:38: "NameOf
Person<126>" disconnected (reason "Error
verifying STEAM UserID Ticket")

Seems the server is unable to get their steam ID. Checking the firewall
log shows that no packages are being dropped at all.
Does anyone have any ideas on what might be causing this? I only have
the problem on this one server, so I'm sure it is something I did as
opposed to a bug.

We have had this exact problem since late 2005 on our servers. I have tried

there has been none acceptable response from Valve, except that the client

Well there are two things I would suggest looking at. First is trying to
update your server with the ./steam -command update ...etc to see if you've
got files that need to be updated or something. Next only applies if you're
running Mani on the server. In the mani_server.cfg there is something that
kicks people after X amount of seconds if their Steam ID hasn't been
verified yet. I guess it's to keep people with a slower/more latent
connection off the server, or if they connect and disconnect and the server
thinks they're still trying to get in and holds a player slot for them.

If it's not Mani I wouldn't be sure what it is. Check and double check
firewalls again. Check the network connection on the server and see if it's
dropping packets, could possibly be a bad NIC or line (though this is
doubtful).

[hlds_linux] Error verifying STEAM UserID Ticket

2006-08-22 Thread Regime
Hi all,
Recently on one of our servers, we have been getting a lot of complaints
from people who are not able to get in on the server, because they
receive an error: "Error verifying steam ticket". I have had those
myself in the past and normally a restart of steam solves this. For this
server however, the problem persists even if they restart their pc
completely.
So.. For some people (including myself) the server works perfectly fine.
For others it just throws them out with "Error verifying steam ticket".
The log displays this:
L 08/21/2006 - 23:18:26: "NameOf Person<126><>"
connected, address "123.123.123.123:27005"
L 08/21/2006 - 23:18:36: "NameOf Person<126><>"
entered the game
L 08/21/2006 - 23:18:38: "NameOf
Person<126>" disconnected (reason "Error
verifying STEAM UserID Ticket")

Seems the server is unable to get their steam ID. Checking the firewall
log shows that no packages are being dropped at all.
Does anyone have any ideas on what might be causing this? I only have
the problem on this one server, so I'm sure it is something I did as
opposed to a bug.
Server specs:
P4 2.8 with 512 MB Ram
FC4 with Kernel 2.6.17.9

Thanks,

find your clientregistry.blob file on your servers and delete them.
Restart the servers. they will reverify the files and generate a new
blob file that should solve your issue.

No I am not on LAN with the server. Its up at the local UC. I can't figure it out it
looks like only people on the LAN there can connect to it but ip is external and shows
up in hlsw still get the error though.

Of course. On one of the servers there aren´t even a firewall so the problem
must be with HLDS or Valve.

Make sure your servers are able make outbound TCP connections on sockets
27030-27045 to the whole world, since Valve are using different
authentication servers.

Ive had this error alot lately myself and some players are having this trouble too.
The first thing I always try is logging out of steam and then back in. Which doesn't
seem to actually work. But, if I stop hlds and restart it. I am then able to connect
without that error. Several players via forums and IRC have this error. Any ideas?
