Research methods one of them is to reboot. Another is to delete some files in person steam client. But here more info about the error from steam: http://supportwiki.steampowered.com/wiki/Error_verifying_STEAM_UserID_ticket (The reboot is usually the best) Rom1 [FFF-Dod] skrev: Bonjour Christophe, Yep ! This error verifying steam userid ticket-issue is still around sometimes. But it doesn't seem to be a client-side only problem. Switching an affected gameserver to another machine did fix the problem for me (copied files, copied ip, new server has same distro, same kernel, just other - but quite similar hardware). Re: [hlds_linux] Error verifying STEAM UserID Ticket
-- [ Picked text/plain from multipart/alternative ] Well there are two things I would suggest looking at. First is trying to update your server with the ./steam -command update ...etc to see if you've got files that need to be updated or something. Next only applies if you're running Mani on the server. In the mani_server.cfg there is something that kicks people after X amount of seconds if their Steam ID hasn't been verified yet. I guess it's to keep people with a slower/more latent connection off the server, or if they connect and disconnect and the server thinks they're still trying to get in and holds a player slot for them. If it's not Mani I wouldn't be sure what it is. Check and double check firewalls again. Check the network connection on the server and see if it's dropping packets, could possibly be a bad NIC or line (though this is doubtful). Re: [hlds_linux] Error verifying STEAM UserID Ticket
We have had this exact problem since late 2005 on our servers. I have tried to find a solution through this list and through Alfred. The only thing that came up on that issue was that we should have connectivity issues, whish was checked and determined to not be true. I have seen this threads about this issue popping up once in a while, but none ever came up with a solution and there has been none acceptable response from Valve, except that the client should delete ClientRegistry.blob file, whish as you say works sometimes and others not. This is a major problem for us as our servers are frequently full and players who stand in line for half an hour finally can connect to the server only to be disconnected by that nice little message. That message comes in conjunction with a message in the server console stating something like The server was unable to contact the authentication servers. We have tried with firewall of, checked with our ISP if they block something and so forth but we do have a good connection. So what you can do is just accept that it is happening, or try to get Valves attention and not just accept the standard answer delete ClientRegistry.blob because it isn't the whole solution. I have given up on it since I came nowhere for three months trying ... Checking the firewall log shows that no packages are being dropped at all. Does anyone have any ideas on what might be causing this? I only have the problem on this one server, so I'm sure it is something I did as opposed to a bug. No, please email the list (hlds_linux@list.valvesoftware.com); we're having the same problem, and I can't find the culprit. I have had those myself in the past and normally a restart of steam solves this. For this server however, the problem persists even if they restart their pc completely. So.. For some people (including myself) the server works perfectly fine. For others it just throws them out with Error verifying steam ticket. Re: [hlds_linux] Error verifying STEAM UserID Ticket
Thanks for the replies all.. I think I may have found the solution to my problem: There was a port being blocked after all. The server tried to connect to steam2.steampowered.com over TCP port 27033. Missed this earlier (oops). Do any of you having these problems firewall outgoing connections? This is not a confirmed solution for me yet by the way, as I can't test it myself. For me it has always worked fine. We have a war on the server in question tonight, so I'm sure I will find out (and report back to the list) if this has solved it. Re: [hlds_linux] error verifying steam userid ticket
find your clientregistry.blob file on your servers and delete them. Restart the servers. they will reverify the files and generate a new blob file that should solve your issue.
