Loading via gameinfo.txt should still work, but you'll have to copy or
symlink addons/metamod/bin/server.so to addons/metamod/bin/server_srv.so

Freezes on plugin loading is caused by SELinux being enabled and

everything, but it will always lock up whenever it tries to load any
  plugin
(and all I want atm is the ones that come with it). I've tried recompiling
the plugins from the scripting folder, tried the windows plugins, but it

Re: [hlds_linux] Sourcemod?

2012-10-26 Thread doc
My PvP server was running with latest 1.5 SM and 1.10 MM snapshots, but
then mysteriously crashed sometime on the next map change, so I can say
that it was loaded and running, but definitely not stable or working right.

Then again my MvM server is crashing, completely vanilla on a non event map
- so there might be something just wrong with the update.

If you have issues with plugins loaded, it's from a third-party plugin

If you have issues with plugins loaded, it's from a third-party plugin or
 extension.

Same here. Some sourcemod plugins crashes. In my case, I traced the issue
down to TF2 Weapon Blocker plugin (wpnblock.smx). After disable, server runs
fine.

I expect some major gamedata changes. Many plugins will need recompilation.

That said, I'm not running any l4d2 servers at the moment so I can't help

Re: [hlds_linux] sourcemod l4d2

2010-04-26 Thread Craz
Pior,

Running sourcemod and metamod are actually easier than a lot think. If you
read into it TOO much, you will actually confuse yourself.

Look... download the source files (sourmod and metamod tar balls)...

In the metamod archive, there is I believe, 3 files in there... one folder
and 2 files. Copy each of these to your 2nd LEFT4DEAD2 folder.
In the sourcemod archive, there is only one folder called ADDONS... copy
this in the 2nd LEFT4DEAD2 folder as well.

Now obviously your using Linux, and everyone has their flavor on how you
copy and paste stuff basically. Im not going into all that. If your using
Linux and do not know how to move files, then you need to shut your server
down now, and go buy a 286.

You will also need to get the metamod.vdf file. You can google this and
find a source for it. Once you find it, place it also in your ADDONS
folder.

Restart your server. Once it comes up, go into your server and in chat,
type !sm_admin. You should get something saying, you don't have permissions
to use this feature.. something of the sort anyways... this means everything
is working.

To get your access to your admin console in game, you need to modify/create
a ADMINS.cfg file. This is located in the
Left4Dead2/Addons/Sourcemod/CONFIGS folder. There are examples in there to
help ya. Overall, its looking to call up a file called ADMINS.CFG. Add your
Admins to that file as Bailopan has instructed.

Enjoy !!

Re: [hlds_linux] sourcemod l4d2

2010-04-25 Thread Jonah Hirsch
Well, I'll go ahead and help him then.

1) Gameinfo.txt is deprecated. It is no longer needed (see
http://wiki.alliedmods.net/Gameinfo_Deprecation). All you need now is
metamod and your metamod.vdf file in your left4dead2/addons/ folder.
2) This update broke compatability with SourceMod and MetaMod anyway. You
need a NEW metamod.vdf file (Generate it from http://sourcemm.net/vdf), and
snapshots of SourceMM and Sourcemod.
I'm assuming you're on Linux, so these snapshots will work:
http://sourcemm.net/mmsdrop/1.8/mmsource-1.8.1-hg699.tar.gz
http://www.sourcemod.net/smdrop/1.3/sourcemod-1.3.2-hg2947.tar.gz

Then you should be good to go.

Re: [hlds_linux] sourcemod l4d2

2010-04-25 Thread Steven Crothers
ICS,

No I'm not new, I've been actively reading this list daily for about 2-3
years now.

Yes, this list is for server operators, no this list is not about trunk
versions of plugins that are released by third parties on a different site
with a completely different form of support (irc, forums, and wiki).

Since SourceMod does NOT work with its stable version on L4D2, it is
beneficial to ask the SourceMod team, since the data they will get from the
questions or users will be helpful.

This is hlds_linux, not hlds_linux + mod support for third party mods and
svn code.

If you generalize all the topics, then nothing will ever be on topic. It
might as well be the steampowered forums.

2010-04-25 Thread Claudio Beretta
You were rude, and unnecessary. Maybe you were just too busy finding another
way to spam again your small hosting company website and didn't read my
message, but I just made the OP notice that the best place to find help for
that topic is the alliedmodders forum and even gave him the direct link to
the documentation page where it explains how to install metamod without
modifying the gameinfo.txt file.
I didn't answer RTFM, which would have been a perfect response in this case,
but I helped him and suggested a practice that reduces useless messages like
that in this mailing list.

 Radu,

There is no reason to be such a dickhead...

Sourcemod questions should be asked at sourcemod's website, this list is
 not
support for Sourcemod or any other mod for that matter. This list is for
 the
 hlds_linux only.

Hopefully Valve see's this and disables your account.

Bullshit asshole, this list is for server admins. Metamod and sourcemod
questions are fair game - who the fuck decided that you're in charge of
 the
content that goes on this list?

That said, I'm not running any l4d2 servers at the moment so I can't help
you with that. You should still try the sourcemod forums as well as
#sourcemod on IRC but there's no reason why you wouldn't share this with
 people on this list.

  Hi all

I am trying to run metamod with sourcemod on my left 4 dead 2 server,
after typing in gameinfo.txt ( GameBin
  |gameinfo_path|addons/metamod/bin ) the sourcemod wont start. Before
the last update all works fine, but after each update I have to type
 it
again because there is new gameinfo.txt written instead. Is there a
 way
to run metamod with sourcemod in other way?

  any help would be appreciate

  thx in advance
