10.4.11 PPC - does not work. Assistant results in an unexpected
error. In manual mode the quick viewer results in an unexpected
error. The stitch tab shows the stitch button. The stitching status
pane is verbosely normal and reports failed Enblend and failed
Enfuse tests. So the stitch process gracefully terminates itself. I
do not recall if 10.4 users are supposed to use special versions of
 Enblend and Enfuse.

10.4 users are supposed to use the non openmp versions of enblend and
enfuse as normally added to the dmg. This dmg did indeed not come with
these special 10.4 versions. I had not thought of that.
I assume it will just work with the 10.4 enblend/enfuse versions as it
did so for Carl.

Harry is right, I just looked up my settings and my hugin prefs on 10.4
are set up according to the instructions in the readme (which comes with
the official download):

Note: this version of Hugin contains an openMP enabled
enblend and enfuse. These versions don't run on Tiger.
Please use the Tiger compatible enblend and enfuse from
the Tiger folder in this dmg.
You can specify alternative external enblend and enfuse
from the stitching pane in the preferences.

BTW the enblend version specified in my prefs is the one that came with
the hugin 2010.5.0 (4886) version but I suppose that part hasn't changed
in a while.
Just search for a folder named 'enblend-enfuse-4.0' and link to it from
the 'Stitching' tab in the Preferences window. Don't forget to also set
your favourite 'Default Arguments' while you're there.

FWIW, it works fine on FreeBSD. Is this problem limited to Microsoft
platforms?

Works fine here on Linux, too. Just made my first 360-degree pano (along
with 7 other panos) using it today! :-)

I was going to recommend KImageFuser as an *interactive* tool to explore
the enfuse arguments. Fortunately, I checked before doing so.

KImageFuser works fine as far as it goes, but hasn't been updated since
14 August 2009, which means some of Enfuse's more recent facilities aren't
controlled.

Anyone know more about this (helpful) project?

Harry is right in this way.

I understand.  It would be great if only the portion of the
PTBatcher application that actually produces the stitched panorama
were to be invoked upon the saving of the .pto file.

To implement this there were some more changes necessary.
Also in the development branch and therefore the calling of
PTBatcherGUI is heavily extended and allows what you want.
But this need some more testing, and I don't want it therefore copy
back to the already released version.
So please wait a little time, then I think, Harry will provide a new
development version which includes the new features.

[hugin-ptx] Opening Hugin .pto File Causes Problems with CP Error Estimates

2011-06-06 Thread MicheleTobias
I've been working with Hugin on a difficult set of photos. It's a
multi-line set where the second row is at a completely different angle
than the first. I've realized that some of the issues are not with
the photos, but with a curious occurrence with the program that I'm
hoping someone can help me with.

I loaded the photos into a new instance of Hugin, then saved the .pto
file and closed the program. When I opened the program and the file
again, there were estimates for the error between the control points
that never existed before. Now if I try to use the optimizer, I get
very high error estimates, which I believe to be incorrect. Is this
something anyone else has experienced? Does anyone have a work-
around?

Thanks a bunch!

[hugin-ptx] [OSX] New 2011.0.1 bundle for tryout (Was: Try to get a workaround for OSX 10.5 stitch for 2011.0)

2011-06-06 Thread Harry van der Wolf
Hi all,

Thanks to Thomas we now have a stitching Hugin on Leopard 10.5, be it via
PTBatcherGui.

I built a complete release bundle which is exactly the same as the last test
build apart from the version stamp which now mentions 2011.0.1

Please do a final test to check whether it still works correctly.
Also: I added a README FIRST LEOPARD USERS.txt file in the dmg. Please let
me know if it is clear enough and also feel free to correct for errors.

You can download the bundle here:
http://hugin.panotools.org/testing/hugin/hugin-ptbatchergui-mac-2011.0.1.dmg

If it is confirmed to work correctly I will upload it to hugin.sf.net to
replace the current one.

Note: I'm not sure whether we need a patch in the official tar.bz. I think
this will only happen in the bundle on 10.5. When build via cmake
huginstitchproject is a separate mini bundle and therefore works differentl.
At the moment I am the only bundle builder although Skip can do it as well.

Great!

Note: I'm not sure whether we need a patch in the official tar.bz.

Please commit the code changes to the 2011.0 branch in the repository and then
tag it 2011.0.1.

If an official tarball is needed, it can be produced form that 2011.0.1 tag.

[hugin-ptx] Error interpreting JPEG file

2011-06-06 Thread Tduell
Hullo All,
I have just migrated from Fedora 14 to fedora 15, and having set up my
rpmbuild and all the libs, built the latest default branch hugin.
It all appears to work OK, however the Fedora image viewer (eye-of-
gnome) gives an error when I attempt to display a jpeg pano stitched
by my fc15 version of hugin.
It gives the following error message error interpreting JPEG file
(Suspension not allowed here).
Gimp can display the file, and if I save it out of gimp as new jpeg,
eye-of-gnome displays it OK.
Eye-of-gnome doesn't have any problems displaying panos stitched by my
previous versions of hugin.
An internet search didn't turn up any info related to the error
message.
I am wondering if I have built hugin with the wrong jpeg libs. The
only libjpeg that appeared in the Fedora repo was libjpeg-turbo, which
I used, but it doesn't sound familiar.
Does anyone have any ideas as to what might be wrong?

Cheers,
Terry

 Hi Harry,

 - Read Me First (Mac).pdf
I see a minor glitch with LibreOffice spacing... but that's a
typography thing. The Helvetica Postscript font is IMHO uglier than
any Arial can ever be. Look at the spacing of 'f' with its neighbours.
BTW I accept your choice to use American English although I personally
prefer BE for text (behavior without a 'u' somehow hurts my eyes).

I check with arial or another font.

It's the Libre Office PDF generator that's doing this. Also with other
fonts. If I simply use the OSX builtin PDF generator the font is fine.
