Re: [hugin-ptx] Re: Hugin-2011.0_beta2 released

2011-03-07 Thread Harry van der Wolf
Hi Carl,

2011/3/6 Carl von Einem c...@einem.net

 Hi Harry,

there seem to be some issues (at least on OS X) with the current hugin
 2011.0 beta2 (OS X 10.4 and 10.6, haven't tested 10.5 yet):

10.4 + 10.6: The splash screen shows some sort of red mask in the
illustrations pano frame but I guess this is due to the not yet real
panorama that will be shown in this area. Version number in splash screen is
 2011.0.0

I assumed this as well and did not even check to be honest. What's wrong
with the version number?

Opening the about window crashes hugin. Do you need the crash report?
This happens on 10.4 and 10.6

Confirmed. Perhaps it has something to do with the dedication part. I will
check.

After optimisation or even resetting positon values the Fast Preview window
is only updated if I e.g. toggle the show/hide button. This also happens
 already in 2010.5.0.4854

 Confirmed.

Identify in the Preview tab of the Fast Preview window is always on, no
matter if the button is activated or not. This seems to affect the
visibility of the Overview which is plain black and only flickers while I
hover over the image numbers. Oh, with Photometrics disabled the Overview is
 suddenly visible.
OK, thinking about it this might well be a problem of my graphic card's
 OpenGL capabilities
The same .pto behaves similar on 10.6: Fast Preview is blind. I just set
up a completely new project with different type of images (scans from my 12
mm Heliar instead digital frames from the 8 mm Nikkor) and also no joy: the
preview only shows a grey area.

Well, this looks like my earlier reported issues, but I didn't have it (or
not yet that is) with this build. Not being a programmer I have no idea how
to solve this.

Getting a crash when I select About
Multiple crashes in the fast preview window. These are all reproducible but
essentially touch anything and it goes down.
Stitching, normal preview etc all seem stable.

Hi Dane,

just click the button 'Show/Hide' to display the docked Overview window.
Unclick the 'Grid' checkbox to hide the grid.

A well hidden UI element...

Also note that clicking the small pin icon in the header of the docked
Overview area will show a floating window instead (or just click and
drag the Overview title bar). To put that floating window back in a
docked position just drag it in either the top, bottom, left or right
boundary of the preview's actual image area.

Note to developers: the floating window behaviour of the Overview is
buggy on OS X, see https://bugs.launchpad.net/hugin/+bug/726997.

  CHANGES SINCE 2010.4.0

Only two months have passed since our last release and yet there have been
major changes.  Hugin's own control point generator cpfind has been
significantly improved; the last project from the 2010 Google Summer of Code
has been integrated; many general improvements have been made.

  _Improved Built-in Control Points Generator_

Cpfind's detection ability has been significantly improved, especially for
wide angle ( FOV 65°) images, fisheye images, and rotated images.
  Annecdotal
evidence shows it to be more accurate than any other CP detector ever used
with Hugin.  A thorough, scientifical comparision against other CP detectors
is welcome.  If you have well formed comparison results, please publish a
  link
on the Hugin mailing list athttp://groups.google.com/group/hugin-ptx/

  _Improved Fast Preview_

An Overview pane has been added to the Fast Preview window.  Users can now
interact with the panosphere like in a virtual reality viewer in real time
and visualize all areas of the panorama with little distortion, including
the zenith and nadir that are typically excessively distorted in the flat
  preview.

It is now possible to drag individual images or arbitrary groups of images
on the panosphere in the fast preview.

A new gray point picker has been added for visual white balance correction.

  _Registration of Stereo Images_

align_image_stack is commonly used for the alignment of slightly misaligned
images, e.g. for creating a High Dynamic Range image  from multiple
  exposures
when the camera was hand held.

It has been extended with additional functionality for the registration of
  stereo

What are the chances of getting bug #709561

fixed by 2011.0 release? I know it's not a major bug (no crashes) but
it's annoying and slows down the workflow.
