I don't think it's off-topic for IBM-MAIN, Frank, but I think you'll
have better results on the internal conferencing system within IBM,
asking in the Notes client forum. Other IBMers have dealt with this
kind of question, but they do not necessarily watch IBM-MAIN and so
won't see your question here.

Walt,

This is an old thread and I already got results here. I'm not sure why
Shane is responding now (I guess he must read posts and respond to them
without reading the rest of a thread). I settled on Lotus Note's feature
of

That's working ok for me.

2007-06-18 Thread Rajesh Dharia
I don't know if you can have the color setup for mails you receive from
IBM -main. However, you can set up a rule in your Lotus Notes to move
every email you receive from IBM-Main into a different folder.

here 's the procedure to do it :

1. Go to 'TOOLS' on your left hand side . Select 'Rules' .
2. Select 'New Rule' tab .
3. When sender contains 'IBM Mainframe Discussion List' then move to '
your desired folder-name' .
4. Click on add action.
5. Ok.

and done.. :-)

I assume you are talking about the colors tab under tools preferences.

I never tried it with outside addresses before, but I just did and it worked.
It will even update existing emails as long as you exit your mail box and
re-enter (perhaps that is your problem).

You might also want to open one of the emails and use
filedocument properties and look at the tab that shows the
details for all the different fields (2nd tab in my case) and verify
what is in the From field.

BTW, I'm using a notes 6.5.1 client.

Frank,

I set myself to mail and I see the problem. The sender field that
notes uses for the coloring is taken from some other field, not from.
I think it may be a field called PRINCIPAL and that is what shows
up under who in the preview pain.

Unless 7.0 has an additional coloring option for fields other then
sender, then I guess you can't do it. Unless you want to make a rule to
forward ibm-main emails to yourself and then color those perhaps.

It's not what you really want to do with colors, but how about adding a
rule
that is something like this:

Condition
   When:
  Body contains IBM-MAIN
 AND Body contains sort

Action
   Change importance to High

Thanks, but that really won't do what I want.

What I want to do is identify notes to ibm-main and racf-l so I know
they're not notes directly to me. Sometimes I get a note and don't realize
it's from the list and respond to it as if it were just to me. I'd like to
avoid that. I've set it up so I see a blue circle on notes directly to me.
A different color for the notes from lists would catch my attention better,
but I'll just have to train myself to pay attention to the blue circle.

Thanks.
