 Yes, it does.

For completeness, here's the response to my PMR:

-IBM -5751CS900 - 11/07/22-11:04-
Hi John,
Mount point for file systems can not be changed through install dialogs.
Serverpac ships a pax archive of the file system that contains the
directory structure ie. /usr/lpp/cicsts/cicsts42/
During the RESTORE job we substitute the first / in that structure
with the install directory you specify. RESTORE needs to match those
inbetween directories usr lpp cicsts cicsts42 to put them into the
restored file system.
Once RESTORE is done you can unmount the file system and mount it
at different path.
You will also need to change your DDDEF entries to point to new
mount point accordingly.

SO, obviously I mis-remembered having done so two years ago, when I
last installed a ServerPac that included zFSes.

But now I know why. :-)

2008-12-04 Thread Schwarz, Barry A
You said (or defaulted to) leave 15% of each volume unused. Your target
libraries require 1.75 volumes. They won't fit on one. If they were
placed on two, each volume would have less than 12% unused.

Your DLIBs require 1.08 volumes. They won't fit on one.

Neither set will fit on a single volume but you could get the target
libraries on only two instead of three by changing the percentage to
10%.

custompac adds 2 more target volumes and 1 more dlib volume. Can someone

2008-12-04 Thread Gibney, Dave
I use a separate pool for HFS/zFS and do SMS manage them. Moving HFS
files off the SYSRES target lets the rest easily fit on 1 mod-9.
Unfortunately from my point of view, it takes more than 2 (about 2.2)
mod-3s to hold the z/OS 1.9 target HFS' :(

2008-03-14 Thread Matt Dazzo
Jack, yes this is serverpac. This is an order that is already installed and
completed. I'd like to go back in and look at what jobs were run. It appears
that serverpac thinks that some of the volumes are over allocated and will not
allow you to select 'Installation' option. When I go into 'M' for 'Modify
System Layout' then run SUMP cmd several of the volumes have error conditions
'OVRS because serverpac thinks it needs more space for the install, but the
install is already complete.

Anyone know how to fool serverpac when this condition comes up?

thanks

If it's anything like Service Pac, you have to complete, at least do, the
preceding item before it'll let you start the next one. If that's what
you're talking about.

Custompac

When using custompac to view an existing installed order I find that some
of the options like 'Installation' have an asterisk next to them and are
not able to be selected for viewing. Any body know why this might be?
Thanks Matt

If you just want to look at the jobs that were run, you can browse the
SCPPOENU dataset directly.

Jack, yes this is serverpac. This is an order that is already installed
and completed. I'd like to go back in and look at what jobs were run. It
appears that serverpac thinks that some of the volumes are over
allocated and will not allow you to select 'Installation' option. When I
go into 'M' for 'Modify System Layout' then run SUMP cmd several of the
volumes have error conditions 'OVRS because serverpac thinks it needs
more space for the install, but the install is already complete.

Only if you take overt action to get them in there (using the O / output
command).

Thanks Steve, I don't understand why but it worked.

Hi, Jack.
I ran into the same thing. Just blank out everything except the volser
on the Physical Allocations page, and ServerPac will go take a look at the
volume. You'll be fine.

True, but if that wasn't done you won't see much besides the job number
when you do get the dialogue to let you look. You won't know if the job
succeeded or even if it ran.

You could also review the JCL but you won't know if what you are looking
at is what was actually submitted.

Guilty as charged! I see a few jobs that I only looked at in SDSF and
not from the dialogs. IVPs only though. I agree the intent (and best
practice) is to use the ServerPac dialog output command.
