Re: Privilege Class Override
Yes. There are MODIFY commands in the SYSTEM CONFIG file. I added the privilege class modification to the SYSTEM CONFIG file. Thank you. I have an override UCR file set up to add an additional privilege class. The system was running as a level 2 system. This override file worked fine. The level 2 system was IPLed as a level 1 system, the UCR override file is not functioning. I can resave it (OVERRIDE CLASS OVERRIDE (IMMEDIATE ) and it works. The system is then IPLed as a level 2 system and it works. This morning I IPLed this system as the level 1 system. It was necessary to resave the UCR override file... This is a spool file. All my volumes have unique names... There are no duplicate spool volumes. These volumes are all cylinder 0-end... Any ideas as to why the UCR file would not work when the system became a level 1 system? Thank you. Cecelia Dusha

We are looking into what we can do to improve VM:Secure so the allocation map information on the object directory volume can be preserved when changed while VM:Secure is running. Corrupted IPL Record
Over the weekend, we upgraded our final system to 5.2. As a part of the migration, we changed old PARM extents to PERM and allocated new PARM extents. When we tried to ipl the system, there were errors that led me to the conclusion that the IPL program had been corrupted. Using DDR on another system, I observed that record 0 0 2 had been completely wiped out. There were a few scattered bits that were not 0 in the first 100-200 bytes, nothing that was any kind of pattern, and the rest of the record was all 0. Records 1, and 3-6 were all as they should have been. I had to run SALIPL to fix the IPL program. I am not blaming CPFMTXA ALLOCATE because I think it highly unlikely that it was the cause. I suspect that something else happened between the previous IPL and yesterday's failed attempt. Has anyone else seen this kind of corruption or are we, once again, unique? Regards, Richard Schuh
Suppressing PER messages
Is there a way to suppress the message 'Command Complete' issued by a PER CMD? Example Issue 'PER DIAG 58 PRINTER CMD DUMP 0.20;BASE3' sends 'Command Complete' to the console for each DIAG 58 requiring a clear key between each full screen display. This message in not affected by SET EMSG or SET IMSG Is there any way to suppress the message ? If not why not? -- Chris Langford, Cestrian Software: Consulting services for: VM, VSE, MVS, z/VM, z/OS, OS/2, P/3x0 etc. z/FM - A toolbox for VM MVS at http://zfm.cestrian.com Deva Woodcrafting: Furniture creation, House remodeling, Wagon restoration etc.
Tape Manager
I'm having a problem running Tape Manager. When starting the compiled REXX program TAPMAN. DMSEXI240E Alternate exec processor EAGRTPRC not found I found I have a DMSRTPRC module but not EAGRTPRC. This z/VM 5.2, any suggestions on fixing this? Section 5.2 of the Tape Manager program directory indicates that you must have either the REXX compiler RTL or the IBM Alternate Library, downloadable from http://www.ibm.com/software/awdtools/rexx/rexxzseries/index.html. Re: Suppressing PER messages
I think you will need to do a cp command modification. I'll have a look tonight at where.
