s390 Debian 5.0.5 install
I've downloaded the Debian for s390. I got a kernel panic at boot from ipl 00c. It seems to be a very well kno wn problem on the net. I found some linux commands on the web to bypass the problem but it still doesn't work... If someone has a bootable initrd that works, I would be curious to know t he solution... Thanks Alain Benveniste

Re: s390 Debian 5.0.5 install
Hi, Alain. Some things to check for when installing Debian: 1) do the MD5SUM values of the downloaded file match those of specified in the download directory? 2) did you download the binary files using F 80? 3) sometimes kernel panics during install can mean that there is not enough virtual storage available to unzip the initrd file; Try increasing the virtual storage size of your virtual machine. Hope this is of some help. Unnecessary /cpdvd folder Was: Electronic Delivery - DDR or DVD?
Alan, About a year ago I have one problem installing zVM 5.4 (native LPAR), into a Customer site. The problem was with the HMC keyboard: impossible to use the Slash key. Yes, no / available. No spare keyboard, no corrections found, no keyboard setup available, etc. The installation process needs to specify /cpdvd to start the installation. The circumvention was copy the DVD to another, directly into the root, without the folder cpdvd. After it, the installation was done normally, without specify any directory. My question: why to put the data on a unnecessary folder, inserting one point-of-fault? Can you ask the development guys? Thanks a lot. Hi Ed, That looks pretty much like what we have. The Library Manager as a device is, I think, a database and processor that runs the tape library. In practice, I think of it as the web interface that lets me control the tape library. we have a vswitch set up on VM 4.4 I have a VSE that uses VM as a gateway - it's IP address is specified in the GATEWAY section of my PROFILE TCPIP I have IPLed this VSE on 3.1 with TCPIP support for the vswitch, but the NIC doesn't come up. IPL605E error RC 122 I think it is because VM's TCPIP still has it specified. Is there some command to delete it dynamically? I don't want to restart VM's TCPIP.
