Where can I find the error code descriptions from PIPEDDR?

Basic FTP question

2009-10-02 Thread Bob Henry
I'm trying to set up an ftp session from my PC to z/VM V5.1. I've tried a

couple FTP products (FileZilla WinSCP) which produces errors Faile
d to
retrieve directory listing. I finally found an ftp product that works

(CoreFTP) but the CMS 191 disk is accessed as read only so I can't transf
er
any data to it. Is there a setting in the z/VM FTP server that causes thi
s?
Can I issue a SITE command (or something else) that will put the mdisk in

write mode?

Re: FTP - how can I preserve date time?

Does VMARC come as part of VM or does it have to be ordered/downloaded fr
om IBM?

Re: FTP - how can I preserve date time?

2008-02-07 Thread Bob Henry
Follow-up question:

I have VMARC working well, but is there any way to decompress the archive

file at the foreign (VM) site using an FTP subcommand? I use the CMS
subcommand to issue local CMS commands, but without getting into a separa
te
REXEC procedure, is there any FTP subcommand equivalent to CMS for the
remote site?

Is there any way to preserve file date time when I ftp from one z/V

another z/VM?

Re: RSCS LPR won't autostart

2008-01-25 Thread Bob Henry
Looks like that's the problem. AST is not enabled. I have to look into it

closer because that config source that's supposedly in place has AST
defined. Unfortunately it's on a remote VM which I don't administer and I

don't have access to the RSCS config disk.

RSCS LPR won't autostart

2008-01-24 Thread Bob Henry
I have 2 different RSCS links defined to the same physical LPR (HP 8150).

One link is for landscape, one is for portrait (see definitions below). W
hen
I send a printout to the portrait queue, the link autostarts fine and the

document is printed successfully. When I send the same printout to the
landscape queue, I get DMTAXM101I File 7431 (7431) enqueued on link
ROC815WL and the link never starts. I can stop/restart the link and the
document will then print. I have other LPR's defined exactly the same way

and they all autostart correctly on both landscape and portrait queues.

The links are defined as follows:

LINKDEF ROC815W TYPE LPR MANUAL FORM *AST
LINKDEF ROC815WL TYPE LPR MANUAL FORM *AST
...
PARM  ROC815W  EXIT=LPRXPSE ITO=0 SEC=NO #

   HOST=149.24.51.28 #/* HP 8150 Devl WW  *
/
   PRINTER=raw #

   USER=YES # /* allow overrides  *
/
   EPARM='FORM=POCP1109'  /* Portrait 60 lpp
 */

PARM  ROC815WL EXIT=LPRXPSE ITO=0 SEC=NO #

   HOST=149.24.51.28 #/* HP 8150 Devl WW  *
/
   PRINTER=raw #

   USER=YES # /* allow overrides  *
/
   EPARM='FORM=LACP1012'  /* landscape
 */

Any thoughts on what might be causing this?

Here's the info:

ROC815W is the portrait queue, ROC815WL is the landscape queue.

Can't set printer to 66 lines

2007-03-21 Thread Bob Henry
I have an HP 8150 printer defined in RSCS using EXIT=LPRXPSE and
SYSTEM=YES to invoke LPRXFORM. The default line count for portrait
orientation on this printer is 60. I want to change it to 66 for this job
which is only text characters. I've tried several different ways but with
no success. I have a form set up with these PJL commands in PREFIX
statements (the hex code is not shown here):

esc%-12345X
@PJL SET FORMLINES=66lf
@PJL ENTER LANGUAGE=POSTSCRIPTlf
esc%-12345X

I've tried this before the sep page (before the x'FF04' string) and after.
All I get is a perfectly good seperator page and then the text characters
come out HUGE at about 10 lines per page. Does anyone have any suggestions
on how to simply change the number of lines per page?

Re: Postscript printing in RSCS

2006-03-20 Thread Bob Henry

Yes, I'm sending output to RSCS via
SNANJE so I don't need the LPD. I can separate the files (JES output components)
and assign form names to each. I direct the PS output to a specific RSCS
link name via the JES DEST name but it doesn't pick it up as a PS file.
>From what I can tell, there's no %!PS command in the file. Does that need
to be supplied by the PREFIX parm in the LPRXPSE parm?

Re: Postscript printing in RSCS

I've studied the Exit Customization book, the
TCP/IP Solutions for VM/ESA
Redbook (Enterprise Printing) and I'm still confused how
to tie the LPR
link LPRXFORM CONFIG file together. The Redbook describes setting
up an
LPRXFORM CONFIG and shows several examples of FORM, FORMSUB PREFIX
values to be used with PS printers. However it says there should be
an
entry for each form in the LPDXMANY CONFIG file. I don't have any LPD's
defined, just LPR's. Do I just set up a config file for LPRXFORM and
point
to it in the EPARM of the LPR link (C=LPRXFORM)?

I am assuming you are sending the z/OS files via an NJE link; so
you
would not want or need to setup an LPD link. The LPRXFORM exits
are used to setup form blocks during RSCS initialization, which are
selected via the spool file FORMS. They are not used by the LPRXPSE
exit, so you would not want to code them in a C=LPRXFORM EPARM
statement.

Then, in the files I send to RSCS from z/OS, they have plain text and
Postscript programs included in one file, (i.e. JESMSG, JESJCL, JESLOG,
(all text) followed by a postscript program to print a special invoice
form). Does LPRXPSE send a program that will handle the text
as well as
the imbeded postscript program?

Do each of these files have separate NJE or dataset headers? Can
you
change the form on each file? LPRXPSE doesn't handle an imbeded
postscript file in the middle of a plain text file.
