Re: TCP2PROD Failure

2010-09-21 Thread Bill Munson
In this TCP/IP service you have to have the SFS up and running

Even in a bare bone zvm 5.4.0 system you need to xautolog VMSERVS,
VMSERVU, and VMSERVR

then restart PUT2PROD

good luck

Marty,

We run z/VM5.4 to run LINUX - like you
We do not have RACF, Dirmaint, LDAP or anything - like you
I applied RSU1002 to z/VM 5.4.0 about a month ago and got the same error
you did
IBM told me to bring up my SHS servers because TCP/IP service was trying
to update something in the BFS
so I xautologged VMSERVR, VMSERVS, VMSRVU and restarted PUT2PROD and it
ran succesfully - sorta.

this is a good warning error

now bringing up the SFS is part of my service procedure

And, yes, I do have SFS and BFS as well as VMSERVS, R, and U running. I
installed
z/VM 5.4 2 years ago and this is the only problem I've had with it. I am
running RACF
but don't know enough about what to ask to find out what OPENVM thing is
missing.
That's where IBM seems to think the problem is.

Thanks, again, Bill. I'll be trying your suggestion today after 5 p.m. (
CDT)
I'll let you know how it turns out, but, if your experience is any guide,
 it
should resolve our issue. Thanks.
