Expected cost per person is between Rs 5000-Rs 1. Duration will be 2 months. Training will be lab based. The program will be lead by Dr Lalita Prasad (formerly with TCS and ISRO). Hello , I think those who planned this program doesn't even know whats happening around the globe. ICFOSS an organization started to promote Free Software has been failing to do its duty for long time. On this workshop also, by including Sailfish its again proved its proprietary face. I think those who planned this program never did any background study. Maemo and Meego has stopped its development long back then why is it included? Is ICFOSS planning to take up this projects and start development if so it also sounds funny. In FSUG TVM's mailing list Anoop mentioned about Replicant and Cyanogen I didn't see them in list. Hello , Thanks for the reply.In your mail it clearly says ICFOSS, IEEE, CSI and SMC bring you two days of Open mobile platforms so its a collective responsibility, you can't run away from that. If SMC is not part of the program you should be saying that we are planning to put a stall on the program venue to demonstrate our tools. The real issue is about the perspective. Here I don't see Libre or Swathanthra perspective which SMC always endorse's in this situation they must not be using SMC's name for promoting the event. This is similar to the situation what happened at CUSAT when Novell was part of the program. Its silly to say its a web designers work, someone from ICFOSS or those whom you say is responsible may have given the designer the content and images, it's sure that the designer won't do a research on the subject. And I don't think it will take more than five minutes to edit the HTML if you have raised concern about it. Please check the page, the logos and the description with them is explaining the term Open Mobile Platform and by the term Open itself it's eliminating Freedom. If you raised concern about this then why you shared this, you should have shared this only after clearing the concerns. Laptops normally comes with HDMI out only if you have a HDMI input option in your laptop you can connect it to that else the easiest way would be just power up the pi connect it to a wired internet connection and connect the laptop to the same network then find the ip of the pi using ipscanner login using remote desktop client or ssh. Am trying to create a symbolic link for my pci sound card .I created a file
/etc/udev/rules.d/60.alsa.rules with the following content:

Then I restarted udev using init.d but the symbolic link /dev/jumanji was

[fsug-tvm] Hardware Freedom Day 2013 Celebration Report
SPACE,FSUG-TVM,Beginow, and Hello Infinity jointly organised Hardware Freedom Day celebrations at the Bandstand, Napier Museum, Thiruvananthapuram on 20 April 2013 from 3pm to 7pm. Hardware Freedom Day is a yearly celebration of Open Hardware. Open Hardware initiatives replicate the philosophy of free software movement in hardware technology development. Though a relatively young movement, it has already led to the development of some highly significant technologies. At the event, various open hardware projects were demonstrated. These included international initiatives like Arduino for robotics, Raspberry Pi for low cost computing, RepRap 3D printing technology and the Indian project expEYES for scientific experimentation. Art, nature and technology converged when plantains served as a musical key board for arduino based hardware project which piqued the interest of children and the grown ups alike. A major attraction at the venue was various robots developed using open hardware technologies. They included sniper robot (which can be deployed for warfare), amphibian robot (which can traverse in both land and water) and many others. The event created some amusing interactions between man and machine. Another crowd puller was the 3D printer demonstrated at the venue. The printer takes a 3D model from the computer and prints the three dimensional object. The 3 D printer is expected to change industrial production model in the world. The event attracted students and professionals from various engineering institutions like VSSC. They have expressed interest to build further on the technologies exhibited. Kerala has set a model for India by going for free software in a significant way. It has now extended this spirit of freedom into other key areas of computing by assuming leadership in open hardware initiatives. Thiruvananthapuram is among the four places where Hardware Freedom Day was celebrated in India.
