With Ghane's contribution of 5 I'd think we have enough PCs for the
time being, but since you're so close to IHC your offer will be kept
as urgent backup if required. Hope that's OK.

I have downloaded the Knowims CD image (http://wims.unice.fr/knowims/),
and will burn it for the occasion.

I wonder why cant we offer a one-time only(coz many CD burning
volunteers dislike this option normally) CD-by-post feature at the
stall? We find out the courier and packaging charges. And we only need
to have the demo CDs for people to check out at the stall? We can ask
for an advance at the stall and send it as we burn! The booking list
would be a good PR too!

there are very few working 386s out there, but quite a lot of 486s and

Does anyone have a couple of killer educational apps that they can

oops! for-those-who-came-in-late,

linuxasia2004 is happening at india habitat centre on 11 12 13 feb 2k4.
this is the first time this event is being organized, it is the largest
asia expo around gnulinux, and is organized by the linuxforyou people.
the event is quite huge, they have booked almost the entire IHC's public
spaces.

more information about the event, the hub, the speakers, the demos, the
workshops, the buzz, can be found at www.linuxasia2004.com

most of the stuff here is free. so see you there.

linux-delhi has been invited to participate as a community, to act as
the local host to other linux-user-groups in india, and they have even
been allowed to hold their february meet at a site in the venue. kishore
and others have managed to rope in some of the speakers to come and
address ilug-delhi at the meet.

meanwhile, raj's emails are galvanizing linux-delhi members to volunteer
and take part in ilug-d's presence and participation at the event. the
response from the community for ilug-d's participation is electric. so
join in with whatever you can bring in: cd-burning, posters, pcs,
peripherals, tee-shirts, talks, demos, manning and womanning the booths,
ideas, spreading the news, inviting others, getting your boss, CTO, MIS,
school, college, NGO, organization to attend, preponing your valentine

nope, not a great idea. pre-burn and sell cds at the stall to a captive
audience. clinch a sale when the buyer is most agreeable. book cds that
you run out of, or need time. should you promise to ship a booked cd
that someone has paid for, you have a liability until the person
receives the courier with goods intact. so avoid procastination.

[ilugd] Re: help on ssh

2004-02-05 Thread Jasmeet
Hi,
It goes like this.
You want alice (user 1) to login automatically from neptune (machine 1)
to pluto (machine 2) under the security of jenny (user 2).
1. login into neptune as alice.
2. type 'ssh-keygen -t dsa'
3. answer all the questions sensibly, remember the location where you store
the keys.
4. after ssh-keygen as finished, goto the folder where you stored the
generated keys.
5. there are two parts to the key, (if you chose default in step 3 ) id_dsa
and id_dsa.pub (id_dsa is your private key, id_dsa.pub is the public key)
6. copy id_dsa.pub to pluto and copy it folder .ssh (notice the dot) under
jenny's home folder as authorized_keys2, if authorized_keys2 already exists,
append the contents of id_dsa.pub to that file. i.e. cat id_dsa.pub
/home/jenny/.ssh/authorized_keys2
7. now try logging into pluto as jenny from alice's account on neptune (
[EMAIL PROTECTED] ssh [EMAIL PROTECTED] )
this should throw you in without asking for password.

what basically happened was that we generated a key for alice and added
alice's public key to jenny's authorized_keys2 file.

I hope this helps. You can experiment more by using different kinds of keys
of different strengths, etc. ..

2004-02-05 Thread vivek khurana
HI!

I had installed a RH9.0. The problem is when i try to
use mysql from php, i get an error. I resceive a fatal
error saying fatal error undefined function. I am
receiving this error even with mysql_connect().

I had installed every package on rh9 cd which starts
with php or mysql.
Incidently, i am not receiving this error on another
machine with same configuration (of packages).
 Any pointers whats going wrong.

2004-02-05 Thread Gurpreet Singh Sachdeva

Are you configuring ur own sendmail???
If yes -- Check the entry in /etc/mail/local-host-names (give the
domain name in that).
Also check the MX records in DNS. They should point properly with the
reverse lookup zone configured.
Can be a bandwidth issues also but it's a rare case.
The *Mailer-Deamon* send back will tell u the whole story :)

Not able to receive mails?

1. Is DNS working for the domain?
2. Does user exist on same server or a different
server.
3. Is sendmail configured correctly to deliver mail
locally or remotely.
4. Do you have multiple domains configured?
5. Does sendmail know about the domain it is supposed
to deliver mail to?

Hi,

I understand that you have to register at LinuxAsia if you want to
attend the free tracks, so please do that if you're planning on
joining the festivities.

The registration is at: http://linuxasia2004.com/general_registration/

I'd have been happier if there'd been a privacy notice there, but
*shrug* one can't have it all :)

You DO NOT have to register if you're only planning to man the ILUGD
