They are in DUL lists. Unless I am mistaken, not too many mail servers block DUL IPs. They most probably subject it to more stricter checks. I, for example, give a higher spam value in Spam Assassin to these emails, simply because the number of spam coming from DUL far outmatches legitimate emails. Also, remember, that either Tata Indicom/VSNL has voluntarily submitted its dialup pool, or somebody has taken the trouble to find out and submit them. Either way, people out there (mailadmins) have an interest in tracking dynamic IPs around the world. As far as i see it, the only way to take IPs off DUL lists is by proving that they are not dynamic. :) That is the whole purpose of that list isnt it? What is worthy of a protest is asking Tata Indicom/VSNL to take off that brain dead policy of alllowing only mails sent from Tata Indicom/VSNL email ids to be sent through their mail servers. Another thing, always use the Tata Indicom name wheneevr you are talking about VSNL. It seems that Tata Indicom is choosy about how to use their brand name. They let obnoxious policies like these be publicised using the brand name of VSNL, while they promote their own brand name whenever a marketing pitchis to be made. Every body should know that Tata Indicom and VSNL are the same. Only when the Tata Indicom brand name/image gets a hit, will they take their stupid policy off. So repeat after me: Bad Tata Indicom! Bad Tata Indicom! Bad Tata Indicom! Bad Tata Indicom! Bad Tata Indicom! Bad Tata Indicom! Bad Tata Indicom! Bad Tata Indicom! Bad Tata Indicom! :) > if the ISP understands that many users are affected, they make take some > corrective action. like giving us authenticated SMTP fr example. > > i am sure that this email is going to bounce back from most of the > recepients. raju, request you to post on ilugd. folks (esp sandip) while we are on this topic, can you also guide us vsn-as-dialup-ISP users, on how to get our dynamic IP off RBLs? i think organised action helps, and if the ISP understands that many users are affected, they make take some corrective action. like giving us authenticated SMTP fr example. i am sure that this email is going to bounce back from most of the recepients. raju, request you to post on ilugd. thanks for any help/guidance. ajit. ___ ilugd mailinglist -- [EMAIL PROTECTED] http://frodo.hserus.net/mailman/listinfo/ilugd Archives at: http://news.gmane.org/gmane.user-groups.linux.delhi http://www.mail-archive.com/[EMAIL PROTECTED]/

Re: [ilugd] pls tell best modem
Hi, An external modem would be best for linux, but if you cannot get it, make sure you get an internal modem with special drivers for linux. Most internal modems are "softmodems" which rely on the CPU for some of their functions. AFAIK, D-Link provides linux drivers. I have used them, they are ok, but the speed is limited unles you pay. Re: [ilugd] installing fedora from hard disk
Hi all, I have a similiar problem, I have a single cd of fedora, which I got through LFY. The cd is scratched a little, hence it stalls while installing the boot image. I have copied the "Fedora" folder containing the base and RPMS to my hard drive. I just want a basic setup of fedora, without applications or graphical interface, as anyway my system is not powerful enough to handle that. Anyway I can do it? Could you enlighten me about this scratch method of installing linux? Rediff is one of the few people who have been blacklisting by domain (for their internal RBL databases). If your IP is blocked it is likely that you are listed elsewhere. Check openrbl.org for testing whether your IP is listed elsewhere.
