Done thats and Whoopy it works , tested it by going offline and sure
enough it works.

Ubuntu 5.10 (DVD ) had in its repositories some of the dictionaries and
a Thesaurus as pointed out in the link sent by Abhijit

Uh, just run dictd locally and set your preferred server to 127.0.0.1,
then you'll be able to use the local dictionaries.

You might need to configure dictd a bit (tell it what dictionaries are
available, etc) -- it's been a long time since I ran it locally.

Don't know about how you would go about setting up a copy of a
gnome-dictionary server locally (you might be able to get the
developers to tell you that), but presuming that you have done
that correctly, you can always use /etc/hosts to fool the
lookup into thinking that your local host is indeed dict.org,
e.g., enable local loopback networking and add
  127.0.0.1 dict.org dict.org
to /etc/hosts.

Gora

Dear Ramnarayan,

I haven't used dict.org dictionary but I am using stardict offline which
is an excellent dictionary to use.
You can find more about this here..
http://stardict.sourceforge.net/

stardict requires glib 2.6 or above.

it works wonderfully.

hi,
In addition to pankaj's suggestion, my 2 cs
i would suggest that you dump windoze 2k and install either
 a) RedHat ES 4.0 (if you have the money)
 b) Debian Sarge (if you like to be adventurous)
c) Run ClamAv as the antivirus engine, put in the plugin for Qmail, Postfix,
Exim like mailscanner or Amavis.
 d) Welcome to the *Linux* mailing list
