this is a scheduled community meet? [ilugd] internet-radio with amarok, over 4, 000 channels 24x7. all could go dead on 15.7.07
dear all, [cross-posting to linux-delhi and linux-india mailing lists] confession: i have got addicted to internet-radio. i use ubuntu feisty, and installed amarok. clicked on playlists, then on 'radio streams'. my lower jaw scraped the floor as i discovered mostly 24x7 radio channels, probably more than 4,000 of them, neatly organized in every conceivable category. most stations stream at near-CD quality here. i prefer those with NO advertising, and NO chatty radio DJ yack. just the music. have expanded my tastes to several genres over these two to three months. it's an experience to expand your consciousness. and to discover how we tend to get so rigid about our tastes in music. anyways, on 15 july 2007, net radio could go dead. check out why here http://www.savenetradio.org/ you could read a backgrounder here http://www.pitchforkmedia.com/article/news/43064-rip-internet-radio-71507 and here i was, so excited about this new stream of radio juice! been enthusiastically sharing and inviting people to discover internet radio. i personally listen to atleast 10 to 16 hours of internet radio a day. and was even thinking of starting a thread or a forum or a mailing list so we could all share the multi-dimensional re-discovery of internet radio on broadbands at home. sigh! :-| niyam bhushan ___ ilugd mailinglist -- ilugd@lists.linux-delhi.org http://frodo.hserus.net/mailman/listinfo/ilugd Archives at: http://news.gmane.org/gmane.user-groups.linux.delhi http://www.mail-archive.com/ilugd@lists.linux-delhi.org/

[ilugd] Clarification on weekend meet
Hi! all, I dont know what has given birth to this confusion over weekend meet. A bunch of guys will be meeting (non-ilugd) on Thursday 6pm at WImpy's Cp to discuss the logistics about conducting Osscamp delhi. This meet is not an ilugd meet and is seperate from ilugd affairs. Just because I am attending the meet doesnt means that ilugd is involved in osscamp delhi. I am meeting these guys as an individual and *not* as a representative of ilugd. Whether there will be a meet on weekend or not is purely upto ilugd office bearers and has nothing to do with osscamp delhi. (Though discussion about osscamp delhi is on the agenda list). Also, I think that it is a bad idea, marking cc to a mailing list, while answering to some list. Either forward the whole thread or please do not mark the whole list in cc. It leaves people on both ends in a state of confusion. Please do not mix discussions on two separate mailing lists. For such discussions, please start a new thread in both the mailing lists and post the synopsis before marking CC to any list. Finally, those who are interested in volunteering or coordinating some camp during oos camp delhi can turn up at Wimpy's (opp palika bazar) CP on 12th july 2007 at 6pm. Hi, There seems to have been some confusion over OSSCamp vis-a-vis ILUG-Delhi, and between private planning meetings and a public meeting. I guess that the bottom line is that OSSCamp, and ILUG-Delhi share common interests in promoting FOSS, and it would be good to get together. There is an ILUG-Delhi meeting planned for this Sunday, so if the OSSCamp people would like to show up, they are more than welcome. Regards, Gora P.S. I hope that I have the right email address for Kinshuk. If not, would someone please forward it? ___ ilugd mailinglist -- ilugd@lists.linux-delhi.org http://frodo.hserus.net/mailman/listinfo/ilugd Archives at: http://news.gmane.org/gmane.user-groups.linux.delhi http://www.mail-archive.com/ilugd@lists.linux-delhi.org/
Re: [ilugd] Clarification on weekend meet
Hi, I am not sure what brought this particular diatribe on, and in a follow-up on the other thread, I have explained what the motivation behind asking OSS Camp people to attend the ILUG-Delhi meeting was. To repeat it, it seems like we share common interests, and as there is an ILUG-Delhi meeting this Sun., the OSS Camp people are cordially invited to attend. We would like to hear about your plans, and brainstorm about how we can work together. Vivek, I am not quite sure why you see this as an attempt to somehow hijack your private meeting, or why you seem to see this as a threat.
