That would be fine, and you are certainly
welcome to stop by Sarai on the 6th. However,
don't you think that some kind of a plan,
and a few volunteers, are needed before
jumping into this?

We had some discussions on this topic
a year earlier, so look through the archives.
Niyam has the outlines of some topics in
the multimedia section under
http://wiki.linux-delhi.org/cgi-bin/twiki/Main/CollegeExpo
We also made a start at a Wiki page on this,
which is at
http://indlinux.org/wiki/index.php/CM_Multimedia

It would certainly make sense to talk to
Niyam, and others, first. Could I suggest
starting a discussion page on the Linux
Delhi Wiki, maybe starting by simply copying
the page from the IndLinux Wiki, where it
doesn't really belong. Also, please get
together a list of volunteers.

Cool idea. To be honest the only thing I miss on GNU/Linux is those games and a
bit of professional level multimedia video editing. Well then I used Mac for
that reason. In GNU/Linux several tools are there for video editing, I have
tried almost all but still in nascent stage. Well, then its just the beginning
of the journey and we have to go miles with GNU/Linux before we sleep.

Ya I have played several games under Wine, but there are always some glitches.
so these kind of orgy will be of great help to gamers.

Best wishes!

Great idea Emmanuel! :)

Folks, Emmanuel is coming over to Sarai to set up some computers with
games this Sunday afternoon. So we thought of extending this 'setup'
event and holding a full fledged LAN gaming orgy complete with Snakes
and Chai.

We would like everyone interested to come and have a ball. Also, if
you folks have any more ideas in gaming on linux (like games on wine
and it's derived projects dedicated to gaming emulation) then please
bring them forth and contribute. Bringing your own system is highly
encouraged. We have a wireless network setup.

This can be considered as a teaser to the Software Freedom Day for
sharing ideas in this arena which keeps a big share of people (gamers)
away from FLOSS.

Event: LAN Party
Venue: Sarai
Time: 2:00 PM, Sunday, 7th September

Er, you can plug a Linux drive into any other Winduhs or Linux machine
and read it too. Linux reads its data natively (wow!) and Winduhs has
enough tools for reading Linux filesystems.

Where's the problem?

Everyone Likes Linux Loves Linux - Open Source& Low Licensing Fee...

But as in windows if OS fails...it is very easy to use that drive as
secondary in other PC and access the datashow this type of utilities in

B'coz a lot of organizations wants to come on Linux but have little fear for
Data.

There should be some expert who can give some knowledge on this issue. If we

How about meeting up at CCD in CP? Or some other central place like that
where we can actually meet in person and also 'celebrate' the Software

Its great that you have managed funds. To organise an event in Delhi we need
to register as a team on the SFD site:
[1] http://cgi.softwarefreedomday.org/register.html
[2] http://www.softwarefreedomday.org/StartGuide

But, I think you have already done that! I just saw your flag in
http://cgi.softwarefreedomday.org/map.shtml
Although we have already missed the deadline to get those SFD supplies, but
no worries, we'll celebrate. :-)

Nandeep (IRC Nick: n9986) and Pratul (IRC Nick: lut4rp) and Me(IRC Nick:
Prakhar) have been in some discussions. We have been planning some stuff. Do
drop in at #hackers-india channel on Freenode. And maybe we all can meet in
person in coming days.

Cheers!

Dear Prakhar,

Thanks for encouragement. Since I was also trying to get funds for the same,
which I have almost managed so that problem is solved. Now, I need your help in
understanding is there any formal process of registering with SFD if we wanna
organise event in Delhi? If yes what is the process?

I also request members to please let me know who all are willing to join th e
celebration so that I can have an idea of the gathering. Also what all we
should plan for the day?

Another help I need from friends:
1. Venue?
2. Activities
3. An intimation of your participation so that I can compile the list.

You can approach me off the list or on 09910956518

Swapnil

Hey, thanks for bringing this up. I also checked up SFD website[1] that
there was nothing planned in Delhi. We should organize some event. Let's see
what other members feel about it. Feel free to ask for any help/support.
