All,

I am looking to implement some kind of work order system this summer,
and I am curious what others are using. Initially this will be for our
maintenance staff, but if we can find something that would fit, I would
like tech to be in there as well.

What is everyone using (if anything), and does it meet your needs?
Thanks!!

2009-03-23 Thread Jim Kerns
All,

Thanks for the great information, it will definitely save me some time!

Jake, I am curious why you did not use School dude for the IT side as well?
Was GLPI already in place when you purchased School Dude, or did it just not
fit well? Just curious. Thanks!

RE: [info-tech] Help Desk/ Work Order

2009-03-23 Thread Sheets, Jake
We had been using GLPI since before it was GLPI... It was IRM.

GLPI has worked very well for us. It provides the main functions that we
were looking for and use. It tries to do some of the more advanced
functions like Project Management, but seems to fall short. We also use
OCS Inventory.

The biggest advantage it has over a move to SchoolDude was cost...Free!

We did not see where we would gain an advantage.

[info-tech] Microsoft Settlement for Mac License Purchases

2009-03-23 Thread A.Bloomquist
I received a phone call this afternoon from a DeElla with the
Microsoft Settlement to say that I would be receiving a report on our
License purchases.

She informed me that the Mac software licenses we purchased are not
eligible.

I wrote an email to John O'Connell and his reply said that he is not
involved in this part of the settlement but he said I known a number
of people who have received vouchers for Mac purchases.

Have any of your heard from Microsoft and do you know anything about
the Apple - Mac licenses not being eligible?

Wanted to check with any of you about this.

I do plan to call the Rust group handling this first thing tomorrow,
Tuesday, and hope to get a better answer.

Thanks,

Ann

Re: [info-tech] Microsoft Settlement for Mac License Purchases

2009-03-23 Thread Lance Lennon
Ann et all,

From the documentation on the original settlement agreement, Office for
Macintosh was not one of the software titles eligible for licensure count.

Monies that you get from the settlement (Vouchers) can be used to purchase
that title and Apple Hardware (Not iPods thoug).

So no new news there.

Lance

Microsoft Update - Fresh Start Program

The Microsoft ³Fresh Start Program² program is being discontinued effective
March 27, 2009.

If your district is receiving donated PC¹s and would like to apply for the
Fresh Start Program to obtain media, books and licenses for Win2k please do
so immediately. The applications will be accepted through March 27, 2009.

Information is provided at:
https://www.microsoft.com/Education/Freshstart/FSSplash.aspx

Thank you for your inquiry about the Fresh Start For Donated Computers
Program (Fresh Start). From its inception the Fresh Start Program was
expected to meet its objectives by 2009. Having provided the means for
ensuring legal Windows operating systems on donated computers at no cost for
K-12 accredited academic institutions around the world, we have decided to
shift our emphasis to other areas beginning in July 2009. With the
retirement of Fresh Start, here is some information you need to be aware of:
* Applications to the Fresh Start Program and orders will no longer be
accepted as of March 27, 2009.
* Orders taken prior to March 27, 2009 will still be honored and processed.
All such orders will be fulfilled no later than May 15, 2009.
* All customer support will remain intact until May 29, 2009. After that
date, we ask you to contact the Community Microsoft Authorized Refurbishers
