[info-tech] Lightspeed 8.0

2010-03-25 Thread Mitch Mueller
Have any of your guys using Lightspeed upgraded to 8.0. Just wondering how
well it went and if you have any complications?

Thanks

RE: [info-tech] Lightspeed 8.0

2010-03-25 Thread Pearson, Jeremy
Upgrade went well, and we don't seem to have any issues. Take good
notes on everything under Properties - Content Filter - Authentication
Settings and Properties - Content Filter - Properties. Those settings
seem to be set back to default.

As always, make sure you perform their backup procedures, as I have had
to go back and use that a couple of times. Had I not done that, life
would have been bad!!!

had been problems with it.

To my understanding, the HP stuff is in limbo, since they just purchased
a new company for their wireless stuff. They have discontinued the
ProCurve wireless blades, at least for the 53xx and 54xx switches. Not
sure where there solution is heading.

Just my very limited knowledge, though.

To my understanding, the HP stuff is in limbo, since they just purchased a
new company for their wireless stuff. They have discontinued the ProCurve
wireless blades, at least for the 53xx and 54xx switches. Not sure where
there solution is heading.

Just my very limited knowledge, though.

Anyone have any experience with Ruckus Wireless products? I am looking for
a district wireless solution that just works and does not require a lot of
administrative time to administer. Don't really want to attend school on
regular bases to set it up and maintain it.

Have looked at Xirrus and Aruba and unless you have plenty of time on your
hands and just love complexity steer clear of Aruba. Xirrus is cool but
their prices indicate that they know that. Any other ideas?

a problem installing, configuring, or using the Xirrus arrays.

We have had Xirrus for about 2 years now and couldn't be more thrilled.
The only possible problem we have had is we ignored their initial
recommendations for a third array, so there are places that have spotty
coverage right where we were told they would be.
